Double Pillar Floral Display Birthday /Anniversary Card for Creative Folds #76

 This double pillar display card (6 by 6")was made specifically to celebrate the 3rd anniversary for the Creative Folds blog /challenge.  I had made a card earlier for challenge #76 but it was not made with the anniversary in mind.  So I wanted to make a card specifically for the occasion. However, I made it a birthday card.

To make the card I used a tutorial by Mixed Up Craft 

Note:  the flowers in the card are left over from previous projects.  I wanted to make my own flowers but I am having trigger finger and other issues in both hands that prevent me from doing fine work.

To protect the fIowers a piece of window sheet (thus the glare in the picture) was adhered over the card front. I also added the display to a 6 by 6" card base at the back. This allows the card to stand up as well although it will stand out without the extra card base.

On the front of the pillars I added some Pansy DSP (retired) matted with gold foil.

The  card does not fold flat for mailing so I made a box for the card.  It could be mailed, but it would be better to hand deliver this one.

Thankful for You- a fall fun fold card

 Today is the last day of summer. Tomorrow is the start of fall, a time when trees change color and everyone frantically put their gardens to bed.

That’s what I was doing but my back got sore so I went. Inside to make a fall card, using the autumn Leaf bundle. Below is the card I made:

I don’t know the name of the fold so I called it a front accordion fold

Supplies

Stamp:  Autumn Leaves

Inks: Copper Clay, Versa Mark, Stampin Blends: Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive, Mossy Meadow

Papers:  Pebbled Path, Basic White, Copper Clay, All About Autumn DSP, Vellum, Scrap Daffodil Delight, Oxidized Copper

Accessories: Autumn Leaves Dies, Cheerful Daisies die, Copper embossing powder,  Adhesive backed Speckled Dots, Copper Metallic Enamel Effects, Dimensionals

1.  Score 4 1/4 by 11" piece of Pebbled Path cardstock at 1 3/4, 3 1/2, 5 1/4, 7.  Fold mountain, valley, mountain, valley.  Burnish folds well

2.  Score 3 by 6" piece of Pebbled Path cardstock at 3".  Fold in half.

3.  Copper Clay 2 1/2 by 2 1/2"  mat for art piece

4.  Very Vanilla 2 1/4 by 2 1/4"   art piece

5.  Very Vanilla 3 3/4 by 5 1/4 for inside

6.  DSP: 1 1/2 by 5 1/4 (4 pieces)

Die Cuts:

3 Maple Leaves from DSP and/or Oxidized Copper paper

Fussy cut pumpkin from DSP

Die cut 3 Vellum Daisies and 1 leaf pair.  Color vellum daisies with Daffodil Delight/pumpkin pie Stampin Blends; leaves with Old Olive/Mossy Meadow. Spritz with water, shape petals, and adhere together alternating petals to form a sunflower.  Apply copper metallic effects i

n center of flower.

Putting card together:

1. Adhere DSP between card folds

2.  Sponge edges of Very Vanilla for inside of card with Copper Clay ink and add to inside.  Add strip of DSP to left edge."

3.  Create art piece.  Sponge edges of Very Vanilla with Copper Clay ink, Curl edges of die cut leaves up and add to 2 1/4" square Very Vanilla piece using dimensionals.  Add Crushed Curry stems.

4.  Add fussy cut pumpkin with dimensionals.

5.  Add Vellum flowers

6.  Adhere Very Vanilla to Copper clay layer, and this to the left side of the 3 by 6" Pebbled Path piece.

7.  Adhere this art piece to the card as shown, with the left side to the first fold, and the right side to the the fourth fold.  See below

8.  Add a couple of die cut leaves to the inside of the card.

9.  Add 3 of the speckled dot embellishments.

Partial Die Cutting Circle Flip Birthday Card - a Case

 I saw this card on Pinterest here and knew that I wanted to make it. The author , in her blog, provides written instructions as well as video directions on how to make this fold.

This is the card I made following her directions. I did add a second bird, using the reflection technique,

Happy Easter Friends Portrait Pop Up Card

 Easter is about a month away so today is Easter card making day.  I have been busy creating items for a craft fair coming up soon - if it happens.  One never knows what will happen with the pandemic now that all restrictions have been lifted.  Already the number of cases have risen, so all my work may be moot.

I used the really cute "Easter Friends" stamp set from the Jan to June Mini catalogue to make this fun fold pop up card.  I plan on making a number of cards, so I stamped a number of the images from the stamp set, scanned them, and cut them with my new "scan and cut" machine.  So I'm all ready to make a number of cards.  

For the first card I made a Portrait Pop Up card.

This fun fold consists of 2 pieces - a base piece and an art piece.  I used Basic White card stock for this, matting it with Hand Penned DSP or Pale Papaya card stock.

Base:  5 1/2 by 8 1/2" scored at 4 1/4, 5 1/4, and 7" on the 8 1/2" side

Portrait Pop Up piece: 3 3/4 by 4 1/4"  Scored at 2 3/4, and 3 3/4" on the 4 1/4 " side.

Before creating the fun fold, a 3 3/4 by 5" piece of Hand Penned DSP was added to the back of the card. 

Then, after burnishing all the folds, I created the base (it looks like a bench).  I also added a 3 3/4 by 1 " piece of DSP to the top and a piece of 3 3/4 by1 3/4" to the front of this base.

The bunny and the little chick were coloured with Stampin' Blends- the bunny using both light and dark Crumb Cake; the chick with Daffodil Delight.  I placed some flowers I die cut from the Pansy DSP in the bunny's hands and then added him to a 2 1/4 by 4 1/4 piece of Basic White card stock using dimensionals.  Below and to the left side I added the little chick again using dimensionals.

The completed art piece was matted with Pale Papaya card stock and then added to the Portrait Pop Up piece.  This was added to the base.  A side view of the card is below:

To complete the card, I added some DSP to the flap of the envelope.

Note:  this card lies flat for mailing.

Wildlife Wonder - great Masculine birthday cards

 I decided to take a bit of a break from Valentine's Day, (although I will be making a video later), and making a couple of cards using the Wildlife Wonder stamp set.  It's a distinctive stamp set, so a perfect stamp set for those who don't like to colour.

Both cards are birthday cards.

The first card is a fun fold card.  I don't recall what the name of it is.

As I mentioned, the card is a fun fold.  To make the card, score a 5 1/2 by 8 1/2" piece of Misty Moonlight cardstock, and score at 2, 3, 5 1/2, and 6 1/2".  Fold the two side pieces (2" and 6 1/2" score lines) as a valley fold ; the other two score lines a Mountain fold. The two side pieces can actually tuck behind the front piece so that it fits into an A2 card.

One of the main animals in the set is a bear, but there is a wolf and an owl as well. I stamped the bear on a 3 3/4 by 3" piece of Basic White card stock using the Stamparatus.  I had to stamp him twice with Basic Gray ink to get the depth of colour I wanted.  But before I stamped him, I stamped the ground twice using Cinnamon Cider ink. You could stamp the ground after stamping the bear but you would have to mask the bear legs.

The sentiment was stamped using Misty Moonlight Ink below the bear, and then this art piece was matted with a 3 7/8 by 3 1/8" piece of Cinnamon Cider card stock.

Eden Garden Fun Fold - card and a video tutorial

 I don't know what to call this fun fold, but in this video tutorial I explain how to make this card.

Putting the card together:

• Score a 5 1/2 by 8 1/2" Thick Basic white card base at 1 1/4, 3, 5 1/2, and 6 3/4"  Fold card as directed and burnish well.
• Adhere DSP to card stock and adhere to both end panels and the center piece
• On the 3 7/8 by 2 5/8" piece of Basic white, stamp the image of the flower and two stem leaves using Soft Succulent ink.  Use post it note to mask floral petals in order to stamp the stems behind the petals.
• Adhere the stamped piece to the scallop Evening Evergreen piece and adhere it centered to the middle fold (hint - count the number of scallops)
• Stamp the sentiment on the sentiment piece and adhere it centered on the center fold.
• Add Garden Gems

• Stamp images twice on the envelope flap

A Fun Fold Card for the SUO Challenge #283 & Paper Craft Crew Challenge #442

I made this card for the Fun Fold challenge at SUO Challenge #283 as well as the Sparkle & Shimmer theme challenge at the Paper Craft Crew Challenge #442  

I love making cards with special folds and when I saw a picture of this fun fold on Pinterest I just had to copy it.

I don't know what to call this fold (maybe pop up front panels) but I had fun making it.  I decided to decorate it with a fall theme using the Gorgeous Leaves stamp set and its coordinating Intricate Leaves Dies.  For the sentiment, I pull in another stamp set "Inspired Thoughts". 

For the glimmer and shimmer I used the Be Dazzling Specialty paper  from the SAB catalogue.  I altered the champagne colour of this paper  by spritzing each of 4 pieces with a spritzer containing reinker in 91% alcohol (Garden Green, Crushed Curry, Poppy Parade, Pumpkin Pie). 

Making the Fun Fold:

The card base is 5 1/2 by 8 1/2" piece of Merry Merlot cardstock.  On the long side scored at 1, 2, 3.  Turned the card stock and score at 1, 2, and 3" on the other side.

Turning the card stock 180 degrees. Place the edge at the 1" mark on the trimmer, make a cut between the the first to the third score line  and between the fourth to the sixth score line.

Turn and do the same on the other side.

Burnish folds

Decorating:

The two side and two top panels were decorated with Beauty of the Earth DSP matted with Crumb Cake card stock. The two top panels were decorated with a different pattern. The four smaller panels were also decorated the same way.

For the center, I added a 2 1/2" square of the Be Dazzling Specialty Paper spritzed with Poppy Parade at an angle.  On top of that was added a 2 1/4" square of Basic White embossed with the 3D Bark embossing folder.  Some Early Espresso ink was lightly applied to the edges and rubbed over the surface using a finger dauber.

Some die cut leaves left over from another project, as well as 2 leaves die cut from the Be Dazzling Specialty Paper spritzed with  Garden Green were collaged together and added to retired Gold Hoop Embellishment which was adhered to the embossed Basic White using glue dots.  A gold shimmer ribbon was added to the top of the leaf cluster.

The sentiment at the bottom is from "Inspired Thoughts".  The first line of the sentiment was highlighted with an Early Espresso marker and stamped.  The rest of the sentiment was stamped on the back of the card. 

The card folds up and fits into a regular A2 envelope.

Fun fold Stand Alone Christmas Wreath Card

 This Fun Fold card is so easy to make and because it allows the card to stand up by itself, it also has a WOW factor.  The art piece added to the front  also provides a perfect venue for  displaying  a Christmas Wreath.  

The card base is Thick Very Vanilla card stock measuring 5 1/2 by 8 1/2", scored at 2 1/4, 3 1/4, 5 1/2, and 6 1/2".  It is folded in such a way that the center fold pops out.

The two end panels and the center panel were matted with Early Espresso card stock upon which was added "In Good Taste" DSP.  Dimensions for the card stock and DSP for the 3 panels will be at the end of the post

The card folds up so that it fits into a regular A2 envelope

The middle Art Piece panel was created by die cutting some Early Espresso card stock  with the Stitched So Sweetly die and adding a piece of Very Vanilla card stock in the middle.. The center of this Art piece was adhered to the card base at the middle pop out panel.

Here's how I created the wreath. Before starting, I die cut and stamped/die cut the following:  1 wreath in Crumb Cake card stock (with the leaves); 1 wreath in Mossy Meadow card stock (pine leaves); 8 pine cones stampe..d with Early Espresso ink and die cut; 8 Holly leaves; 6 Real Red Berries; 4 Gold Holly Leaves embellishments.  I also made a bow with the sheer Real Red organza ribbon, and collected some tiny Real Red rhinestones.

To put the wreath together I pulled out my air tight container which has a sponge and tombo glue in it.  I started with the Crumb Cake wreath,  applying liquid glue with the sponge to the entire  wreath and  then adhering it to the art piece. Next came the Mossy Meadow wreath which was adhered on top of the Crumb Cake wreath.

Now the fun part, the decorating. To add the small embellishments I used glue dots and for that my pick it tool was invaluable. I started with the pine cones pairing two together with a Holly Leaf as well as a Gold Holly Leaf embellishments.  A Holly Berry was also added but I ended up adding a red rhinestone on top of them.  To finish a red bow was added off centre  from the bottom.

The sentiment is stamped on a separate piece of Very Vanilla card stock and matted with Early Espresso card stock before adding it to the center panel below the art piece.

Elegantly Said Stand Alone Card

 I love fun folds as they provide a wonderful way to show case DSP. For this stand alone card I showcase the Elegantly Said DSP.

The 5 1/2 by 8 1/2" Basic Gray card stock base is scored at 2, 3 1/4" 5 1/4" &6 1/4". The scored lines are folded as a Valley, Mountain, Mountain, and Valley folds to form a stand alone card.

The 2 end pieces, and middle scored area are layered with  Very Vanilla card stock as well as two different patterns of the Elegantly Said DSP.

For the center piece, the Basic White measures 2 by 5 1/4"

DSP  (Pattern 2):   1 5/8  by 5" . A 1/4 by 5 1/4" strip of copper foil was added to the underside of the DSP before it was added to the Basic White.

 :

Two floral images were embossed with copper embossing powder on a 3 1/2 by 2 1/4" of Very Vanilla.  This was matted with 3 3/4 by 2 1/2" of copper foil and added to a Basic Gray  die cut using the largest of the Stitched So Sweetly Dies. This was added centered on the middle panel.

Below this is a smaller sentiment piece.  The sentiment on this 3 by 3/4" Very Vanilla piece is embossed with copper embossing powder, matted with 3 1/4 by 1" Copper Foil, and added to 3 1/2 by 1 1/4" Basic Gray card stock. It is adhered below the art piece on the center panel.

Gilded gems were added randomly over the art piece and sentiment panel.  As we 1/4" copper trim (retired) made into a double bow was added to the bottom of the art piece with a glue dot.

Sending My Thoughts - a fun fold

Sale-a-bration is drawing to a close.  There are only 2 days left to take advantage of those wonderful free products with a purchase of $60.

One of the items going is the Lily Pad DSP, this paper coordinating the Lily Pad stamp and dies.  A new fun fold, inspired by Patty Bennett, is used to feature this paper for the last time. This is a great fold to exhibit the two sides of any DSP.

A 5 1/4 by 11 3/4" piece of the Lily Pad DSP is scored at 1 3/4,  4 3/4 and 7 3/4" and accordion folded and then added to a 5 1/2 by 4 1/4" Flirty Flamingo card base. The DSP between the second and third score line are adhered together to make a more compact fun fold.

Whisper White sentiment pieces, die cut with the Stitched Rectangle dies, are added to the various inside fold areas, and decorations done using the Lily Pad dies. 

The sentiment on the front is from "Well Said", with the word "you" highlighted with a Bermuda Bay marker.  Because they are individual stamps, the stamparatus was used for stamping.

Two of the smaller Lily flowers are stamped with Flirty Flamingo ink and sponged with Blackberry Bliss, die cut, and then added as embellishments for the front sentiment piece. Also added was some Bermuda Bay enamel dots.

Along both edges, and along the edge of the next fold is added a Flirty Flamingo die cut.

 Below, the card is opened at the first fold to expose the first two sentiment pieces and the pattern on the other side of the DSP.

Open up the final fold and the last 2 sentiment pieces are revealed.

Tags in Bloom Fun Fold Shaker Card

The "Tags in Bloom" stamp set is one of the new SAB offerings as of March 3. It was used to make this fun fold shaker card. This card has a smaller card adhered to the center front of the card base.

Putting the Card Together:

• Emboss one piece of 4 by 5 1/4" piece of Whisper White with the Layered Leaf embossing folder.
• Adhere to card front
• Fold and score the 4 1/4 by 6" Roccoco Rose card stock to form a 3 by 4 1/4" card.
• Die cut two pieces of Whisper White cardstock using the Nature's Thought Die.
• On the 3 by 4" Whisper White card stock, stamp the tag image; stamp the flowers only on the bottom of the image.
• Colour the flowers with Stampin' Blends.  Fussy cut the image.
• Punch out the center using the "Label Me Lovely" punch.
• Add window sheet to the wrong side.  Trim the window sheet around the image.
• Add foam adhesive strips around the window sheet 
• On one of the die cut 4 by 5 3/4 pieces of Whisper White, stamp the sentiment in Crumb Cake ink
• Adhere to front of small card
• Add sequins to middle of front, remove covers of adhesive strips and adhere to card front making the shaker.

• add scallop roccocco ribbon below shaker and rhinestones to top right.
• Stamp and colour 3 flowers to inside piece and adhere to inside of small card.

• Adhere small card to card front using dimensionals.

• Finish inside of card.

Fun Fold Tropical Escape Birthday

This is a really a fun fold. It allows you to show off some off any of our beautiful DSP  For today's card I used the Tropical Escape DSP and even made an embellishment from images in the paper.

In the above picture the card is closed but you can see the beautiful embellishment.  Opening up the card reveals the different patterns in the DSP.

Here's how to make this fun fold:

• Start with a 5 1/2 by 10 1/2" piece of Thick Whisper White card stock
• Score at 5 1/2, 6 3/4, 8 and 9 1/4.  Starting at the left side, fold as follows:  mountain, valley, mountain and valley.  Burnish with a bone folder
• Add DSP matted with Basic Black  and the Whisper White using the following measurements:

Basic Black card stock:  

(1) 4 1/4 by 5 1/4"

(2) 2 1/8 by 5 1/4

(2) 1 1/8 by 5 1/4"

DSP (Tropical Escape)

(1) 4 by 5"

(2) 2 by 5

(2) 1 by 5

Whisper White

(1) 1 3/4 by 5 1/4

Make the embellishment:

Cut 3 palm leaves and 3 flowers (pink) from the DSP.

Punch a 1 1/4" scallop circle which will be the base for the leaves and flowers

Sponge leaves with Granny Apple Green ink ; the flowers with Petal Pink ink.

Using an Emerald Green marker, make markings on the inside of each flower.

Shape the leaves and the flowers.

Using a hot glue gun (you can use tombo if you wish) attach the leaves to the scallop circle base and cluster the flowers at the base of the leaves. Add a black rhinestone to the center of each flower.

Adhere to only half of the first mountain fold from the center.  The embellishment should extend over the edge. ( see first picture)

Die cut a  Delicate Lace Edgelit in Granny Apple green and adhere to first panel. 

• The sentiment, stamped with Black Memento, was die cut using the rectangular, notched framelit from "Farmhouse Christmas"
• Stamp birthday sentiment from "Bunch of Blossoms"

Close the card and wrap a 5/8" white polka do ribbon around the end fold the keep the card closed.  An alternative would be to make a belly band.

Seaside Shore - a double fold display card

The heat remains unrelenting, with no rain in sight, at least in our area.  However, my garden continues to remain a place of solice for  me and I water every night even though the price of watering has gone up.

Again I remained inside today and spent a considerable amount of time making this card.

I started out making the Large display card the Dawn showed in her video but something happened along the way and I ended up making my own different card fold.  The finished size is 6 by 4".  The stamp set "Seaside Shore" is used.

Wondrous Wreath - a Fun Fold - Pal Paper Arts #275

I received a Christmas card that had a fold on it that I had never seen before, and I thought I would recreate it using the color challenge with Pal Paper Arts
The colour challenge:  Blackberry Bliss, Hello Honey, And Tangelo Twist

After thinking about it for a while, I chose to use the stamp set "Wondrous Wreath"

• The finished card size is 4 1/2 by 4 3/4", with a 1/2" flap on the left side that folds over a piece of DSP.
• Here are the measurements:

Blackberry Bliss 5 1.2 b 4 1/2 scored 3/4" at one end
Hello Honey 5 1/2 by 4 1/4" Scored at 4 3/4"
Whisper White: 4 1/4 by 3 5/8" (for sentiment)
Blackberry Bliss 3 7/8 by 3 5/8"
Blackberry Bliss DSP 5/8 by 3 5/8"
Whisper White 3 1/2 by 3 1/2" for wreath and bow
Dazzling diamond glimmer paper 4 by 2" - coloured with a Tangelo Twist marker
Jute ribbon 5"

• The wreath was made first.  It was stamped first with Hello Honey, then with Tangelo Twist, and the berries with Blackberry Twist.  The wondrous wreath framelit was used to die cut the wreath.  The bow was die cut in Whisper White, and later coloured with a Tangelo Twist marker.
• The Jute ribbon was attached to the 35/8 by 3 7/8" Blackberry Bliss piece
• The strip of DSP was then adhered to the left side of the Hello Honey piece, and the Blackberry piece was adhered to the top of the Hello Honey.

• The wreath was adhered to the front of the card using dimensionals.  I made glitter using dazzling details and a tiny drop of Tangelo Twist reinker, and applied it with a blender pen.

• "Noel" was die cut with Dazzling diamond glimmer paper and coloured with a Tangelo Twist marker.  The Fine tip glue pen was used to adhere it to the front of the wreath.

• A rhinestone was added to the bow.
• The inside of the card was stamped with the sentiment from the stamp set.
