Just for You - a Shaker card for #601 Try Stampin on Tuesday

For this challenge I decided to make a shaker card.  That circle in the sketch was calling out to me "shake it up" - so of course - I did.

The theme was to use pastel colours, so the cardstock used in this card featured Crumb Cake with Seaside Spray.

The theme for this card was to use pastel colours.  Keeping that in mind, I used Crumb Cake for the card base, and layered that with Basic White.  On top of that was adhered a 3 1/2 by 5 1/4" piece of Seaside Spray card stock embossed with the Timeworn Type Embossing folder.

In the left end, I used a Circle Stylish Die to create a 2" aperture for the shaker. A piece of clear window sheet was adhered to the wrong side of the die cut circle. Strips of foam tape were added to the edges of the Seaside Spray piece, pastel sequins were added and the shaker was born.

A frame was added around the outer circle.  This was made by die cutting a piece of Basic White card stock with 2 sizes of the circle die at the same time.

Around the bottom of the circle, I added flowers and greenery from the Framed Florets stamp set.  The flowers were coloured with Light Calypso Coral stampin blend.  The Daffodil Delight in the center was covered up with gold Prills giving the flowers a bit of texture.  I also die cut 2 daisy flowers using the Dainty Delight dies.  I coloured only the center of these .  The leaves and greenery were lightly coloured with Soft Succulent blends,

After lightly shaping the flowers and leaves, I added them around the bottom of the circle using dimensionals. After they were set in place I added some Crystal Effects around the edges of the petals.

The sentiment was stamped on a 1/2 by 3" piece of Basic White .  One edge was notched and then it was added across the middle of the circle using dimensionals.

To finish the card, I added some adhesive backed sequins and a dragonfly trinket.

Supplies Used:

Stamps:  Framed Florets, Celebrating You

Inks:  Black Memento, Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight, Soft Succulent blends

Papers:  Basic White, Seaside Spray, Crumb Cake

Accessories:  Window sheet, Pastel shaker elements, Crystal Effects, Dragonfly Effects, Stylish Shape dies (circle), Dainty Delight Die , Adhesive backed sequins, Timeworn Type Embossing Folder, Gold prills (flower center), Dimensionals

Lilypad Lake Shaker Sympathy card

I often walk beside the canal near my home and occasionally I will surprise a blue heron feeding in the shallows.  Their size always amazes me.  I stand and watch them until something startles them and they take off.

The shaker window is die cut using the Stitched Nesting Label die on a 4 by 5 1/4" piece of Whisper White.  The sunset scene in the window was created on an identical size piece of Whisper White card stock.

A slightly larger piece of window sheet was adhered to the wrong side of the front, and after adding strips of adhesive foam around this as well as the card stock edges, the shaker was created.  The shaker elements are Tranquil Textures sprinkles.  This unit is adhered to a Balmy Blue card base.

A blue heron is stamped, coloured, die cut and adhered to the lower left of the shaker element using dimensionals.  A lily pad and lilies were also coloured, die cut and adhered to the lower right.

The sentiment is also from the stamp set, and is die cut using one of the coordinating dies of this set.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Lilypad Lake, Sailing Home (birds)
Inks:  Scene:  Sky: Daffodil delight, Calypso Coral, Pumpkin Pie, Water:  Pool Party, Balmy Blue and Pacific Point.  LIlypad:  Rococco Rose, Granny Apple Green.  Heron:  Smoky Slate, Basic Black, Balmy Blue

A Shaker Birthday Cake

What is there about approaching Spring that causes one to start cleaning and sorting??

Today I was sorting through my stamps selecting ones to place in a stamp sale.  I came across a stamp set and coordinating framelit I had not even opened!  So I stopped all my cleaning and sorting and 'played' with my new found treasure...….

…...and made this shaker birthday (or it could be an anniversay or wedding ) cake.

Using the coordinating framelits, the various cake layers were die cut in Blushing Bride card stock; using the stamp set, the various layers were stamped on a Whisper White piece that would be placed behind the die cut, with the shaker elements between. The stamping can be seen in the picture below.

The cake became the shaker with a window sheet adhered behind the die cut layers, foam adhesive strips and shaker elements. Scallop strips in Blushing Bride glimmer paper were added below each layer; a glimmer bow at the cake top, and the cake is help up with a Blushing Bride cake base. White organza ribbon was attached to the left side of the die cut piece, with a triple ribbon added near the top. Rich Razzelberry flowers with tiny pearl centers adorn the right side of the cake.

The shaker unit was matted with Blushing Bride glimmer paper and this was added to the card front adhered with Romance Floral DSP, Powder Pink card stock and Thick Whisper White.

The sentiment, stamped using Rich Razzelberry ink, was added side ways to the left of the cake using dimensionals, because it did not fit anywhere else.  I rather like it there. (See second picture).

Supplies Used:
Stamp:  Shake & Celebrate
Inks:  Powder Pink, Rich Razzelberry
Papers:  Whisper White, Blushing Bride, Powder Pink, Floral Romance DSP, Thick Whisper White, Rich Razzelberry, Blushing Bride Glimmer Paper
Accessories:  Window sheet, Foam adhesive strips, Shaker Elements, Tiny pearls, Stitched Rectangle Framelits, dimensionals, 1/4" White Organza ribbon, Shaker Framelits

Will this stamp set and coordinating framelits be part of my stamp sale the end of March?  Highly unlikely.
I continue my sorting, hoping to sell enough to finance my trip to Vancouver where I will attend On Stage.

Coffee Time Shake it Up

How do you like your coffee??  Remember that commercial?

I love my coffee= in the morning, afternoon, evening - well, anytime - with milk and sweetener,  and now as shaker.  Sounded intriguing??

I did think of using real  coffee beans  to make this shaker card, but I refused to share my hoarde, so coffee colored sequins were substituted instead.

On a top fold Garden Green card base,  I adhere a Whisper White piece of card stock layered with Coffee Break DSP.  This layer has an oval die cut in the middle near the top.

Using 2 sizes of oval framelits a Whisper White frame is die cut and adhered around the front oval window .Window sheet slightly larger than the original oval is adhered to the wrong side.

Here's a tip I've learned making shaker cards this week - apply some embossing buddy to the inside window sheet and edges of the shaker unit to prevent static cling - allowing the shaker elements to shake freely.

The coffee cup, lid and sleeve were stamped,  die cut, and adhered to a piece of Crumb Cake card stock .  I used the same pattern on the cup sleeve as on the outside of the card.

The shaker was assembled in the usual manner with foam tape around the oval and the card stock edges.  As mentioned I used coffee colored shaker elements (non SU) .  The card front and the Crumb Cake layer were adhered together and was then  adhered to the card front.

The sentiment is from the Coffee Break stamp set.  It was stamped in Early Espresso, punched with a large oval punch and adhered to some Early Espresso card stock punched with the Pretty Label Punch.
Some die cut coffee beans decorate  the bottom of the shaker unit on the left side

Supplies Used:
Stamp:  Coffee Cafe
Inks:  Early Espresso, Black Memento
Papers:  Garden Green, Whisper White, Coffee Break DSP
Accessories:  Layering oval framelits, Large oval punch, Pretty Label Punch, Dimensionals, window sheet, embossing buddy, Shaker elements (non SU) Coffee Café framelits

A Shaker Balloon Card - another catalogue sneak peak

This shaker card is more of a traditional one in that it uses window sheets.

It is non traditional in that the entire image, from the hostess stamp set "Hand Delivered" is fussy cut and the shaker element is part of a bunch of balloons.

The image was stamped on a 2 1/2 by 5" piece of Whisper White card stock. Before coloring the balloons with watercolor pencils and an aqua painter, I punched a  1 1/4" circle in the lower middle balloon. This I covered on the inside with  some window sheet.

This stamp set has various options for different skirts, so I chose the stripes and used a Rich Razzelberry water color pencil to fill in just the stripes.

The entire image was fussy cut and adhered with foam tape to a 4 by 2 1/4" piece of Whisper White card stock matted with Rich Razzelberry card stock.  I used the retired "Sprinkle Embellishments" for the shaker elements.

The base card is Rich Razzelberry card stock layered with Whisper White followed by a 2 by 5 1/4" striped piece of Perfect Picture Party DSP.  Over the seam I adhered some 3/8" mini chevron Bermuda Bay ribbon.

The focal image was added to the card front slightly off center.  On the right side some Bermuda Bay enamel dots were added.

I die cut the sentiment using the retired "Bitty Banners Framelits"  and added it just handing under the balloons.

As a final touch some 3D enamel lacquer was added to the balloons to give them that shiny appearance.

Supplies Used:
Stamp:  Hand Delivered
Inks:  Black Memento, Watercolor pencils
Papers:  Rich Razzelberry, Whisper White, Perfect Picture Party DSP
Accessories:  ! 1/4" circle punch, Window Sheet, Sprinkles embellishments, foam tape, Bitty Banners Framelits, 3D lacquer, Bermuda Bay enamel dots, 3/8" mini chevron Bermuda Bay ribbon, blender pen

Thanks -another shaker and Paper pumpkin alternative

There are 2 styles of cards in the December Paper Pumpkin kit, both styles of which I have converted to shaker cards. Yesterday I posted a picture of the larger Crumb Cake shaker card.  Check the post here

Today I am revealing the shaker card made from the second Calypso coral card with a round aperture in the center.
A window sheet was adhered behind the aperture, foam adhesive tape built up around the opening, and shaker elements in colours of calypso coral, silver and white were added before the opening was sealed with a square of Whisper White card stock.

The sentiment was stamped with Versa Mark and Calypso Coral ink and clear embossed  onto the banner provided in the kit,  This was  trimmed to fit on the card front. matted with dazzling diamond dazzling paper an adhered to the card front with dimensionals.  A butterfly stamped in Calypso Coral, was added to the top of the sentiment, and a Calypso coral bow added to the other side.

Another small strip of Dazzling Diamond card stock was added along the folded.

No card is complete without bling, so I added a rhinestone in the center of a flower in the middle of the flower in the circle. and in spaced intervals around the periphery of the circle.

Below I a picture of the suggested card outlay:

Big Birthday Tulle Shaker Card

I love to learn different ways to make shaker cards.  The main disadvantage of the traditional method of making shakers is the thickness of the resultant card, increasing the postage cost,

One outstanding advantage of making shakers using tulle instead of window sheets, and tear and tape adhesive instead of thick double sided tape, is that the resultant card is thin and is light in weight.

Again, Jennifer McGuire was the inspiration for using this technique.

,
A 4 by 5 1/4" piece of  Shimmer White cardstock was temporarily adhered to a Red Rose card front and then die cut with a non SU flower shaped die and two pieces of white tulle were cut slightly larger than the die cut area.

The two card stock pieces were separated and tear and tape adhesive was applied close to the die cut edges and along the top, bottom, and sides of each of the pieces. The Sparkles embellishments were suspended between the 2 tulle layers once the two pieces of card stock are adhered together.

The sentiment was gold embossed below the window.

I stamped and white embossed the images twice on Shimmer Whisper cardstock and colored by  sponging and then spritzed with  home made glitter water to allow the colors to blend. After they were dry, the flowers and leaves and fussy cut.- separating the flowers and leaves so I could place them where I wanted.

Dimensionals were used to adhere the larger blooms; tombo for the smaller ones as well as the  leaves.

A 1 3/8" Whisper White circle was  adhered to the back of the image on the inside of the card.  This gives it extra support and prevents any adhesive from adhering it to the inside of the card.

A white organza bow was placed below the larger bloom and some extra sequins were placed around the front.

One thing I would do differently next time is to place the inside sentiment below the tulle covered window.  As you can see from the picture below, I situated the sentiment at the same level as the window.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Birthday Bloom
Inks: Crushed Curry, Rose Red, Melon Mambo, Pear Pizzazz, Old Olive, Versa Mark
Papers: Rose Red, Shimmer White
Accessories: Floral die (non SU), Tulle (non SU), Sprinkles embellishments, White embossing powder, Hand made shimmer spray, 5/8" white organza ribbon, gold glimmer ribbon (retired)
