By the Bay - a Master piece

When I saw this stamp set in the SAB catalogue I was not interested at all and I only got it after I ran out of options.

Boy, did I change my mind once I started working with it!

Here's what I call "My Master piece"

The scene on the Bay was coloured with watercolour pencils and an aqua painter.  I found it hard to see all the different elements to colour, so I used the sock matching approach.

When matching socks after doing laundry, I start with the socks I know match, tackling the rest last.  In this image, I coloured what I knew to be i.e water, building, wall, etc gradually identifying other images until I had coloured everything. Clear Wink of Stella was applied to the water.

A light colour washing of the sky and my  master piece was done.  After sponging the edges with Basic Gray ink, it was matted with Basic Gray and then Grapefruit Grove foil paper.  This was added to the card front using dimensionals.

The basic card is Basic Gray card stock, layered with Sahara Sand card stock (retired) which was embossed with the Subtle Texture Embossing Folder. On top of that on the edges was added a frame of Grapefruit Grove foil which was made using 2 sizes of Stitched Rectangle Framelits.

Supplies Used:
Stamp:  By The Bay (SAB)
Inks:  Black Memento, Watercolour Pencils, Basic Gray
Papers:  Whisper White, Basic Gray, Grapefruit Grove Foil, Sahara Sand (retired)
Accessories:  Stitched Rectangle Framelits, Subtler Texture Embossing folder, Dimensionals, Aqua painter,  Clear Wink of Stella

Water Color Wings Note Card and Envelope

This is my last card using the Water Color Wings stamp set and coordinating framelits.
In this card I wanted to show case the retirement of two more ink colours.  The note cards and envelopes are being carried forward.

The two colours that are retiring are:  Wisteria Wonder and Elegant Eggplant - and that includes the inks, card stock and DSP.

For the note card I stamped the smaller butterfly on a separate piece of Whisper White card stock using Wisteria Wonder and Elegant Eggplant as my colours.  The floral image from Wood Words, stamped in Wisteria Wonder provided the background for the butterfly.  This same image was stamped on the envelope flap. The butterfly was then die cut using the Bold Butterfly framelit.

Here's a close up and side view of the butterfly.

The flower in the center was fussy cut from the background image that I had stamped on a separate piece of paper and adhered to the butterfly with a small dimensional.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Water Color Wings, Wood Words
Inks:  Wisteria Wonder, Elegant Eggplant
Papers:  Whisper White Note card and envelope, Whisper White, Elegant Eggplant, Wisteria Wonder.
Accessories:  Bold Butterfly Framelits, small dimensional.Stamparatus

Water Color Wings with Fancy Fold

Okay, the spoiler alert has been lifted and I can tell you the name of the retired colours and stamp sets - in this post anyway.
One of the retired colours - Soft Sky, so that means the Ink, DSP and card stock.
In a previous post I informed you about the retirement of the Water Color Wings stamp, the Bold Butterfly framelits and the Butterfly Thinlets.
This card features these retired colors

The base card is Soft Sky; the butterfly is stamped with Soft Sky ink, and layered with a Butterfly thinlet die cut with retiring Iridescent glimmer paper.

Here's how to make the fancy fold.
The Soft Sky DSP (size 4 by 5 1/2") is cut 2" on the 5 1/2" side about 1/2 way down.  The two ends are then folded in on themselves and creased well with a bone folder.
This folded DSP is adhered to the card stock back with the edge flush with the spine.

The sentiment is stamped onto the card stock about midway down and the layered butterfly was adhered at an angle at the angle of the fold.

No card is complete without embellishments, so I added another retired item - Tutti Fruittie adhesive backed sequins.

Supplies Used:
Stamp:  Water Color Wings
Ink:  Soft Sky, Black Memento
Papers:  Soft Sky, Whisper White, Soft Sky DSP, Iridescent Glimmer Paper
Accessories:  Stamparatus, Bold Butterfly Framelits, Butterfly Thinlets, Adhesive backed sequins (Tutti Fruitti)

Watercolor Wings - Just for You

Yes the retirement list is out, and one of the stamps on the list is one on my favourites - "Water Color Wings" on Pg. 134 as well as the accompanying "Bold Butterfly Framelits" on Pg. 213.  I do so hate to see them go, so today I am making a card with this favourite of mine

The Stamparatus makes triple stamping so much easier, so of course I used this new tool to stamp the butterfly.  I stamped it in now time!

Colors for the butterfly, in the order stamped:  Powder Pink, Berry Burst, Tranquil Tide
Sentiment stamped in Tranquil Tide.

The butterfly was die cut with the retiring Bold Butterfly Framelit, and adhered by the body of the butterfly only, to a delicate doillie which  was placed on top of a Lots of Labels framelit which I embossed with the Striped Embossing Folder.

Some glitter enamel dots were added to the bottom and top butterfly wings.

The base card is Berry Burst, layered with Whisper White and then Fresh Florals Specialty DSP (Berry Burst).  Some 1/4" Metallic Edge Berry Burst was added to the left side of the card , wrapping it around the Whisper white and DSP layers.  A bow was added at the top.

Supplies Used:
Stamp:  Water Color Wings
Inks:  Powder Pink, Berry Burst, Tranquil Tide
Papers:  Berry Burst, Whisper White, Fresh Florals DSP
Accessories:  Bold Butterfly Framelits, Labels Framelit, Stripes Embossing Folder, Glitter Enamel Dots, Stamparatus, Doillie
