The Last Hurrah!!

For the final Hurrah, today's card features many SAB products:  a stamp "Rise and Shine", the "Pleased as Punch" DSP, with its coordinating "Small Blossom Punch", and the Metallic Bermuda Bay Baker's twine.

• Fold a piece of 11 by 5 1/2" Coastal Cabana card stock at 4 1/ 4" to form an A2 card. 
• Add a 3 3/4 by 5" piece of Whisper White to the card front at an angle.
• Add a 3 3/4 by 5" piece of the striped pattern of the Pleased as Punch DSP to the Whisper White layer also at an angle off setting the Whisper White layer.
• Die cut a piece of Whisper White card stock with the largest of the Sweetly Stitched Dies
• Emboss with the Subtle Texture Embossing Folder
• On a separate piece of Whisper White card stock, stamp a mug with the floral pattern on it using Bermuda Bay ink.  Either fussy cut or if you have the dies, die cut.
• Adhere to bottom of embossed die cut using dimensionals.
• Using the Sprig Punch , punch 2 sprigs with Old Olive card stock.  Add to each side of mug.
• Using the Small Blossom punch, punch 7 flowers of various colours from the "Pleased as Punch" DSP .  Using dimensionals, adhere them as an arrangement in the mug.  Put a small rhinestone in the center of each flower. Add the 7th flower at the bottom right of the embossed die cut.
• Make a bow with three layers of the Bermuda Bay metallic Baker's twine and add to the top of the mug handle with a glue dot.
• Stamp the sentiment "Rise and Shine" with Black Memento ink, punch with the 1" circle punch and add to the mug.
• Add the finished art piece to the card front with dimensionals.
• Add small rhinestones randomly to front of card.

Last a Lifetime

This card is a partial case of the card in the new Mini Occasions catalogue.  My intent to case the entire card went by the wayside when I started creating.  My version ended up being simpler (I can hardly believe I said that). However, I did colour 6 flower clusters.

The sentiment is embossed with gold embossing powder and matted with gol foil.  Two of the flower clusters were coloured with Stampin' Blend markers and die cut with an Elegant Lasting Die.  I decided to add one cluster on the top and one on the bottom of the sentiment panel. A bow made using a 1/4" gold metallic edged ribbon.

All are added to a piece of Whisper White which I  embossed twice with the Subtle Texture embossing folder.  After embossing it the first time, I rotated the piece and embossed it second time. This gave it that wonderful canvas look.

Three gold glitter gems were added along the right side near the bottom.

So, what happened to the other 4 clusters?
One was added to the inside of the card, and another was used to make a note card.  I still have one remaining one that will be used in a future project.

Timeless Tulips - Fast forward to Spring

Spring is still quite a way away.  It's snowing outside and the temperature is anything but warm - but I'm thinking Spring.

These thoughts were helped along with the new stamp set from the Mini Catalogue which just went live - Timeless Tulips.

Tulips have always been harbingers of spring, peeking their heads out of the ground even before all of the snow has departed. So, let's fast forward Spring.....

These tulips were stamped with Grapefruit Grove and Calypso Coral marrying the two.  These are Stampin' Up's Distinctive stamps, so all that wonderful detail is there upon stamping- nothing else is needed, although I did add some Early Espresso with my Aqua painter to emphasize some features.

The leaves were stamped with Pear Pizzazz and Mossy Meadow, again marrying the two colours.  Again, some stripes were added with Early Espresso ink.

Coordinating with this stamp set is the Tulip Builder punch, which was used to punch out the two larger flowers and the leaves. The smaller bloom and stems were fussy cut.

The card base is Soft Suede, a perfect colour to show off these wonderful soft colours.  On this is added a piece of Whisper White card stock  die cut with the Stitched Rectangle die. The center of this piece is die cut with a Stitched So Sweetly die that looks like a window.  This allows the dark colour of the base to peek through and provide a perfect foil for  the floral arrangement.  Before adding it to the card base, some texture was added using the Subtle Texture Embossing Folder.

After the flowers , stems and leaves were assembled they were arranged in a bouquet and tied together with some braided trim. Using dimensionals they were attached to the card front over the die cut window.

The sentiment "Happy Easter, Happy Spring.  Happy, Happy Everything", stamped with Soft Suede ink on Whisper White, was matted with Soft Suede and adhered below the leaves using dimensionals.

A few randomly placed Champagne rhinestones, as well as the application of Clear Wink of Stella  on the tulips, provided the finishing touches to the card.

By the Bay - a Master piece

When I saw this stamp set in the SAB catalogue I was not interested at all and I only got it after I ran out of options.

Boy, did I change my mind once I started working with it!

Here's what I call "My Master piece"

The scene on the Bay was coloured with watercolour pencils and an aqua painter.  I found it hard to see all the different elements to colour, so I used the sock matching approach.

When matching socks after doing laundry, I start with the socks I know match, tackling the rest last.  In this image, I coloured what I knew to be i.e water, building, wall, etc gradually identifying other images until I had coloured everything. Clear Wink of Stella was applied to the water.

A light colour washing of the sky and my  master piece was done.  After sponging the edges with Basic Gray ink, it was matted with Basic Gray and then Grapefruit Grove foil paper.  This was added to the card front using dimensionals.

The basic card is Basic Gray card stock, layered with Sahara Sand card stock (retired) which was embossed with the Subtle Texture Embossing Folder. On top of that on the edges was added a frame of Grapefruit Grove foil which was made using 2 sizes of Stitched Rectangle Framelits.

Better Together Using Springtime Impression Thinlets

These thinlets that coordinate with the Abstract Impressions stamp set create a lacy pocket on the front of a card, or can be embossed to create a unique card front.

These thinlets also include a butterfly - to compensate for the retirement of the Bold Butterfly thinlets when the new Annual catalogue went live.  You'll  see the butterfly in the next post.

Starting with a top fold Whisper White base, I added a Crumb Cake layer embossed with the Subtle Texture Embossing Folder.  Don't you just love this texture?

In the lower left corner I added a delicate white floral die cut made using  the Springtime Impressions Thinlet - and a single flower at the top.

Some 1/2" white satin ribbon was added near the lower card, and the sentiment, from "Better Together" added over that with dimensionals.  Some metallic pearls were added on each side of the sentiment and randomly in the centers of some flowers.

Healing Hugs - a Spring told Card

I created this Fun Fold card using a tutorial I found here.  It's a perfect fold to compliment the Healing Hugs stamped rose image.

The card base is Thick Whisper White card stock, scored and folded as in the tutorial identified.

On the Art Piece, I first layered some Tea Room DSP and then some Whisper White on top of that.  This Whisper White piece was embossed with the Subtle Texture Embossing Folder, which as it implies gives a very subtle texture - see picture below.

On a separate piece of Whisper White card stock I stamped the rose using Calypso Coral ink, and two leaves using Mossy Meadow ink.  All were fussy cut.  The rose was added with dimensionals, and the leaves with tombo. After the rose was adhered to the card, some Clear Wink of Stella was added to it.  For, what is a card without bling??!!

The sentiment, stamped in Mossy Meadow ink on Whisper White and matted with Mossy Meadow.

Along the side I attached some Calypso coral ribbon and bow. and some metallic enamel embellishments.
