Bringing Tree Home to the Rustic Cabin

I didn't know crafting meant so much to me until, due to illness, I was unable to do any. However, I am slowly recovering and in the last few days I have been able to make a few cards.

This is one of those cards. This year I am really enjoying sponging and creating scenes using stamps.

It's getting close to Christmas and many people are bringing Christmas trees into their homes. Because many people are staying home because of travel restrictions dur to the pandemic the demand for Christmas trees is very high.  Some tree farms are even running out of trees to sell and a shortage is predicted.

This did not stop this Gnome. He took it upon himself to get his own Christmas tree to take to the Rustic cabin where he was staying.

To create this scene I first sponged the sky making it look cold and wintery. I used Pool Party and Night of Navy inks, adding some snow flakes using a white paint pen.

After sponging the sky, I added the Cabin and tree lines   All were coloured with Stampin' Blends.

To mimic a snow bank, a piece of die cut Dazzling Diamond (retired) glimmer paper was adhered to the bottom.

On a separate piece of Whisper White card stock, a Gnome was stamped, coloured, fussy cut and then added to the snow bank using dimensionals. Behind him was added a die cut tree.

Cabin in the Woods - Paper Craft Crew Challenge #357

I've always wanted a cabin in the woods, a place to escape, to regroup, or just to enjoy nature.  Thus the challenge at Paper Craft Crew Challenge this week peaked my interest.

The challenge at the Paper Craft Crew Challenge this week is a Tic Tac Toe Challenge, and after pondering the choices, I chose the column from the upper left to the lower right - found in the forest, rustic , sponging.

I chose the stamp set "Rustic Retreat"

The card itself is a rustic picture frame, showing elements of items found in the forest namely branches and logs.  The frame was made using two different sizes of stitched rectangle dies and Wood Texture DSP matted with Early Espresso card stock.  This was mounted on a piece of Crumb Cake card stock using foam adhesive strips.  This crumb cake card stock was embossed with the Woodlands embossing folder and sponged lightly to enhance the impressions.

In the center of the frame a picture of a rustic cabin in the woods with smoke coming from the chimney into a sponged blue sky,  trees around it and snow on the ground. A 3 dimensional branch, die cut from a Seasonal Layer die, adorns the frame top.

A sentiment, stamped on a background that looks like a board, is attached to the bottom of the frame.

This frame is adhered to an Early Espresso card base.

Supplies Used:
Stamp:  Rustic Retreat
Inks:  Black Memento, Early Espresso,  Balmy Blue, Blueberry Bushel, Shaded Spruce, Crumb
cake
Papers:  Early Espresso, Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, Wood Texture DSP,
Accessories:  Woodlands embossing folder, Stitched Rectangle Dies, Seasonal Layer Die, 3/16" Braided Linen Thread, Puff Paint, Foam Adhesive Strip

Rustic Retreat - Try Stampin on Tuesday #432

Today I was at a Craft show in Lindsay where a team mate had a booth and I was surrounded with Christmas crafts, some traditional, some more rustic.  Christmas is coming closer every day, a fact the weather this week reminded me of rather briskly.  Heavy rain, intermixed with freezing rain made for somewhat difficult driving conditions.  But the trip was worth it.

Some of the Christmas decor reminded me of the card I made for the sketch challenge with Try Stampin' on Tuesday #432  which also had an optional theme of mixing patterns.

The patterns I used were from the Wrapped in laid DSP

In a 2" punched circle, I stamped the image of a rustic cabin which was coloured with Stampin' Blends and watercolour pencils with snow and glitter added to make it look wintery. BRRR!

This was adhered to a background of 3 different patterns of  Wrapped in Plaid DSP.

Three different colours of Stampin' markers were used to stamp the sentiment, which was punched with the Everyday Label Punch.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Rustic Retreat, Merry Moose
Inks:  Black Memento, Stampin' Blends (Shaded Spruce, Crumb Cake, Cajun Craze, Smokey Slate, Whisper White, Seaside Spray) Stampin; Markers (Real Red, Shaded Spruce, Soft Suede)
Papers:  Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White,   Wrapped in Plaid DSP
Accessories:  2" Circle Punch, Every Day Label Punch, Puff Paint, SU Glitter
