Sunflowers in a Globe- Beautiful Blossoms Challenge # 14

This is my second submission to the floral challenge at the Beautiful Blossoms Challenge - Anything goes with Optional Mood Board #14

Anyone who knows me knows that I love flowers - real flowers, paper flowers, and flowers on cards.  I am particularly fond of making 3D flowers.

When I saw the Anything goes floral challenge I knew I had to make some flowers and put them in a globe.  I got the globes for birthday last year and have not done anything with them because I couldn't think of anything to place in them.

Until now.

Last year, at Maker Mania 8 we all received a stamp set featuring Sunflowers, and came with a coordinating set of dies.  I used the dies to create the three sunflowers which I then added to one of the globes.

I cut a piece of the coordinating DSP to fit into the globe, trimming the top to fit into the curve.  Two of the Sunflowers with leaves were added to the front.  The butterfly was one of the embellishments we received with the event.

I used the three small leaf punches to punch leaves from some similar coloured DSP and I scattered them on the bottom of the globe. I also added some petals that appeared to fall off the sunflower.

On the other side, I gold embossed  a sentiment "Stand tall and keep your face to the Sunshine", matted it with gold foil and added it to the DSP  above the 3rd Sunflower. I had 3 gold foil hearts left over from another project .  They just seemed to fit well beside and above the sunflower.

Supplies Used:

Stamp:  Sunflower by Sizzix

Inks:  Versa Mark

Papers:  Daffodil Delight, Early Espresso, Mossy Meadow, Gold Foil, DSP (retired)

Accessories:  Dome, Small leaf punches, Coordinating Sunflower dies, Dimensionals., Butterfly (3D) embellishment, Gold embossing powder

Daffodil Daydream and Daffodil Afternoon - what a sneak peak combo and a video tutorial

Two days after Christmas and  I am focusing on products from the new Mini catalogue and SAB catalogue both of which go live on Jan. 4, 2022

One of the first stamp sets I got from the new Mini catalogue is the Daffodil Daydream stamp and die bundle. And from the SAB catalogue, coordinating with it I got the Daffodil Afternoon DSP - FREE

The number of dies were quite onerous, so I spent a little time familiarizing myself with them.   Check out the video below how I did that, and then went on to make a card using the daffodil die cuts.

You can view the video here or on You Tube here

Here is one of the cards I made for the video.  You can receive this card if you make a comment on the video.

The Thick Very Vanilla card base is layered first with some Daffodil Daybreak DSP and then a smaller piece of the reverse side of the same DSP.  The Daffodil DSP is a free SAB item.

The Scallop Contour die cut in Very Vanilla was used to build the flower on.  For the flower I die cut 4 leaves and 2 stems in Mossy Meadow, the flower petals and inner bud in Daffodil Delight and the accents of the petals, the outer bud and cut were die cut is Crushed Curry.  The cup itself was cut in Very Vanilla.

After layering the various parts of the Daffodil, they were added to the Scallop die cut, but not before adding some "dots" in Mossy Meadow for added interest.

This card has a sentiment on it, but on the video I did not put one on, instead tucking it on the inside.

Supplies Used:

Stamp:  Daffodil Daydream

Inks:  Mossy Meadow

Papers:  Thick Very Vanilla , Very Vanilla , Daffodil Afternoon DSP, Mossy Meadow, Daffodil Delight, Basic black

Accessories:  Daffodil Dies, Scallop Contour Dies, Dimensionals, Bumblebee trinket

Easter Treat Boxes

The treat boxes on Pg. 11 of the mini catalogue are a bit of a challenge to put together but are they every worth it.

These boxes are 4 1/16 by 2 11/16 by 1 1/2" and consist of a box and a sleeve. They are food safe and come 10 to a package.

So far I have decorated 4 of them but will post pictures of the two Easter ones I have done..

To decorate this one I wrapped the outside sleeve with a 4 1/4 by 10" piece of Basic Black card stock and adhered a 4 by 9 3/4" piece of the True Love DSP on top of that.
Two wreaths were die cut using the dies from the Arrange a Wreath stamp set.  Four eggs were stamped in Magenta Madness, die cut and added around the wreath.  Four small flowers die cut in Basic White had tiny Daffodil Delight centers added before adhering them to the wreath between the eggs.
The sentiment, stamped in Magenta Madness is from Arrange a Wreath.
To finish the front, I added a bow made with the 1/4" Magenta Madness ribbon.

I decorated this box a little differently in that I first wrapped the entire sleeve in Daffodil Delight, and then added DSP to each area matted with Basic White. Then I wrapped a retired 1/2" Daffodil Delight Grosgrain ribbon around the sleeve and tied it into a bow.
Three flowers made with the Perennial Flower punch were added to a Basic White platform die cut using the Tasteful Dies.  Two eggs stamped with Gorgeous Grape ink and die cut using the Arrange a Wreath bundle were added clustered above the Easter sentiment.

Flowers on Shadow box card lid - SUO Challenges #216

Anyone who knows me know that I love flowers, and next to growing plants under lights, or  nurturing flowers in my garden, making paper flowers is the next thing.

I am submitting the flowers from this project to the "paper" challenge at SUO challenges

In class this week, participants made a shadow box card, complete with flower embellishments.  Check the post here

Because this is a 3D item I made a box to put the card in (the participants did not make this box).

The lid of the box, like the card itself have hand made flowers embellishments on the.

Below is a picture of the Shadow box card:

In the lower left corner are two flowers made using the Pop of Petals stamp set and the coordinating 4 Petal punch. The 3rd flower was made using the flower framelit from the

Each flower was made by stampin two flowers with Black Memento ink, then coloured with Highland Heather and Gorgeous Grape ink with Mango Melody in the center.  The leaves, also from the Pop of Petals stamp set,  were coloured with Old Olive and Mossy Meadow inks using daubers.

After spritzing, drying, and shaping each flower, the two were adhered together offsetting the petals. The leaves were fussy cut and, after receiving the same treatment, were added to the back of each flower.  3D lacquer was applied to each flower to help them retain their shape and protect from handling.  While the lacquer was wet some Dazzling Diamonds was sprinkled over them.

I made the rose by die cutting 5 of the flower die from the Seasonal Layers framelits.  Again, after colouring each flower, spritzing and drying, each was shaped, with each flower shaped progressively 'tighter', with the 5th curled up the tightest (actually rolled in between my fingers).  The flowers are then adhered together  from less to most shaped, offsetting the petals.

Below is a top view of the lid of the box

Supplies Used:
Stamp:  Pop of Petals
Inks:  Highland Heather, Gorgeous Grape, Old Olive, Mossy Meadow, Mango Melody
Papers:  Whisper White
Accessories:  4 Petal Punch, 3D Lacquer, Dazzling Diamonds, Seasonal Layers Framelits, Flower shaping tools (non SU), water spritzer

Decorated Gift Box with Paper Flowers - SUO Challenges #203

The challenge this week with SUO Challenges is to make "Anything but a Card", so ---- I made something to put cards in - a decorated gift box.  Not only that, but part of the decoration are 3D flowers made using the new Four Petal Punch.

This box will hold 6 A2 cards with their envelopes, or it can be used to store other precious items.

Below is a close up of the lid and below that the flowers I made:

The box measures 2 by 2 3/4" and is in two parts - a bottom and a lid and is made using 2 pieces of Grapefruit Grove card stock.

Bottom:
Cut one piece of card stock 8 1/2 by 9 3/4", scoring 2" on all 4 sides.  Burnish folds, then clip at both ends, add adhesive and form into a box.

Lid:
Cut one piece of card stock 6 5/8 by 7 7/8", scoring 1" on all four sides, and form into lid.

Decorating Lid:
Add a 4 1/2 by 5 1/2" piece of Very Vanilla card stock.
Add the oval frame from the Delightfully Detailed Laser Cut DSP which has some Garden Impression DSP the same size adhered underneath it to this Very Vanilla layer.  Before doing some add some 1/8" Grapefruit Grove Grosgrain ribbon around the bottom.

The Flowers:
They were made in a manner similar to other flowers I had made using punches.  Check out the pictoral tutorial here where I made flowers using the Pansy Punch.
For each flower I punched 3 petals in Whisper White card stock and one in Mossy Meadow.
Flower 1:  Edges and backs of 3 petals sponged with Grapefruit Grove ink
Flower 2:  Edges and backs of 3 petals sponged with Balmy Blue ink
Flower 3:  Daffodil Delight used.

Each petal was spritzed with water, dried, and then shaped using a shaping tool.  Two of the petals were adhered together alternating petals using tombo glue.  The third petal of one of the flowers was punched between my fingers to form almost a square and adhered into that shape with tombo.  When dry it was added to the flower center.  I added tiny beads to the center of the other two. The completed flower was adhered to the Mossy Meadow petal which was formed into leaves in a similar manner.

Some 3D lacquer (Crystal Effects) was added to each flower and while wet I added Dazzling Diamonds.

Each flower was then added to some floral wire with a hot glue gun.

Some White Tulle Polka dot ribbon was tied around the 3 wires near the flower leaves: some 1/8" Grapefruit Grove ribbon below it.

The bouquet formed was added to the lid using hot glue.

Below is a better close up of similar flowers.

Supplies Used:
Papers:  Grapefruit Grove, Very Vanilla, Delightfully Detailed Laser Cut DSP, Garden Impressions DSP, Whisper White, Mossy Meadow
Inks:  Grapefruit Grove, Daffodil Delight, Balmy Blue, Mossy Meadow
Accessories:  Four Petal Punch, Floral Wire, Hot Glue Gun, yellow beads, 3D Lacquer, Dazzling Diamonds, 5/8" Whisper White Polka Dot Tulle ribbon,  1/8" Grapefruit Grove Grosgrain ribbon

Flower Pot Easel Card

In my previous post I explained how I made 3D flowers using the new Four Petal Flower punch. Some of the flowers were made into a bouquet, and the rest were incorporated into an easel  card shaped like a flower pot, the template of which I purchased.

I used the gorgeous Petal Promenade DSP and the colors of the flowers were 'pulled' from the colors in the DSP.

Please excuse the lighting.  For some reason I just couldn't get the color right.

The basic card is Whisper White, with the lower part and the parts of the pot layered first with Mossy Meadow and then the Petal Promenade DSP.

Five flowers were added to the top of the pot.  Some empty spots were filled in by leaves punched with the Leaf Punch.  I found some mulberry colored beads similar to those in the DSP and added a few of them between the flowers.

Here is a close up of the flowers:

The two remaining flowers were added to the bottom of the card between the sentiment.

Lift up the card and another sentiment (from "A Big Thank You" is revealed

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  A Big Thank You, Birthday Blossoms
Inks:  Black Memento, Mossy Meadow, Flowers (Pineapple Punch, Grapefruit Grove)
Papers:  Whisper White, Mossy Meadow, Petal Promenade DSP,  Mango Melody
Accessories:  Four Petal Punch, Leaf Punch, dimensionals, 3D Crystal Lacquer, Dazzling Diamonds, Stylus

3D flowers made with Four Petals Flower Punch

Making paper flowers from punches is one of my most favourite activities, especially when it is 30 plus degrees outside (with a humidex of 40).

The paper flowers I made today were made using the new Four Petal Flower Punch.  The method of making t he flower is similar to other flowers (see tutorial here) I have made.

For each flower I punched 2 petals in Whisper White and 1 in Mossy Meadow.  Then, using a finger dauber, I applied color to the edges of the Whisper White ones, and Mossy Meadow to the 3rd one.

All 4 were spritzed with water, and when dry they were shaped using a flower forming tool or stylus.  The 3 layers were adhered together alternating petals, after which I applied a 3D Crystal Lacquer and glitter.

The center of each flower was die cut using a retired framelit set.

I had so much fun I made a whole bouquet of them.
