View Through a Barn Window - Hand Stamped Sentiment #228

I'm rather glad the Holidays are over.  There's nothing like normalcy to make one feel "normal"  Yesterday the Christmas decorations went down and stored away for another year.  The house feels strangely colourless because I miss the reds, greens and golds associated with the Season.  This too will pass.
Today it was cleaning up day because taking down Christmas decorations is extremely messy.
I could hardly wait to get to the craft room.

This is the card I made for the Inspirational Challenge with Hand Stamped Sentiment 

 

• I used the stamp set "White Christmas" to create the scene behind the window.  The trees were stamped a number of times, and cardinals placed randomly.  Marina Mist and Night of Navy were washed onto the background between the trees.  Whisper White reinker and a small brush were used to paint the birch trees white while a black pen with a tiny nib was used to make the markings on the trees. Some dazzling diamonds were added to the trees create a really snowy scene.  Dazzling diamonds were also added to the ground at the base of the trees.

 

• On a separate piece of Whisper White, the image of the deer was stamped.  It was coloured using ink pads and a blender pen.  After cutting it out, it was added to the scene using dimensionals.

• The window was die cut using the "Windows framelit" and Crumb Cake cardstock.  The edges of the window and sill were sponged with chocolate chip ink. It was then adhered to the scene.
• The sentiment, from the same stamp set, was stamped on crumb cake and punched with the Word Window punch.  It was adhered to the window sill.
• Some icicles were made using crystal effects and dazzling diamonds.  When this was dry, the icicles was adhered to the window top and sill using crystal effects.

The base card is Early Espresso, layered with Crumb Cake.  The next layer is Color Me Irresitibly in a wood grain pattern.  Chocolate chip ink was used to color this DSP, and then it was cut into 3/4" pieces.  These were attached to the Crumb Cake layer vertically, and the last piece horizontally.

The window was adhered to the card front using dimensionals.

Hot Diggity Dog Thank You using the Woodllands Embossing Folder

I was playing with the Woodland Embossing Folder today as my class tomorrow night is using this folder to make a number of cards.
A couple of folders didn't quite turn out the way I was wanting, so instead of tossing them, I made one into a Thank You card. Don't know yet what I will do with the other one.

A couple of weeks ago I had a medical emergency and have not been able to drive until my doctor can assess me.  Unfortunately he is away until Nov. 9, so that's a long time to be without wheels.
Thank goodness for friends  A couple stepped right up to the plate and ensured that I got to my appointments, the grocery store and to my last craft show on the weekend.

This card is for the friend who loves animals, especially dogs.  Her dog, Fred, is the love of her life.  To her, he's not a dog but a friend and companion.  Now Fred does not resemble the dog on the card at all, but I think she will get the idea.

So, I combined this love of dogs with a Thank you card made using the Woodlands Embossing folder.

• I started by inking up the embossing folder with Night of Navy and Soft Suede, then running it through the Big Shot with  Whisper White cardstock.
• A piece 1/4" Real Red ribbon was adhered to the lower third of the card
• On top of that I placed a piece of Vellum.  The dog and the sentiment were built on the vellum piece.
• The dog, from "Hot Diggity Dog" was stamped in 2 pieces - the body and the head.  I later stamped the bone at his feet.  The dog's coat was coloured red and yellow using a blender pen and markers, the nose Smoky Slate.  The dog's body and head were cut out and  adhered with glue dots.  The bone was also cut out, the ribbon coloured red, and adhered to the vellum with tiny dimensionals.
• The sentiment is from "Another Thank You" and was stamped on a piece of Whisper White, with one end notched.
• Above the thank you, I stamped a red heart from "Another Thank You".  It was coloured in using a blender pen and Real Red ink.
• A bow made with the Real Red ribbon was attached using a glue dot.
• The dog looks like he's looking up into the trees, so I added 3 cardinals from "White Christmas".  I coloured them with Real Red ink and a blender pen.

I hope my friend will like this card.  I intend to give it to her in class tomorrow.

White Christmas and deer

 I'm still at a Craft Show today, but scheduled this post anyway.

I'm still making different Christmas cards using the White Christmas stamp set.  So far I have created quite a few which you have seen in past posts.
Here is the another one:

After colouring the trees and deer with blendabilities, I lightly sponged the sky with Soft Sky ink.  Then I added some dazzling diamonds to the ground.
The image panel edges were sponged with Soft Suede, and a piece of scalloped silver glimmer paper was adhered to the bottom.  This panel was adhered to an embossed crumb cake layer.  Some chevron ribbon and a bow was attached to the bottom of this layer.  The base card is Soft Sky.

Another White Winter card

I'm at a craft fair today, but I had this card prepared for posting.

I'm really fascinated by the White winter Stamp set.  I have been inspired to make many different Christmas cards, all of which I have posted on this blog.  This time the image is created in a circle and I use the polar bear which I stamped separately and cut out.  If I had been thinking clearly I could have used the masking technique, but alas did not think of that until the sky had been sponged.

The sky is sponged with Marina Mist and Pacific Point inks.  Then I used white acrylic paint and the end of a paint brush to dab on snow flakes.
Memento ink was used to stamp the trees and the cardinals, both of which were coloured with blendabilities.
To mimic snow on the ground, some dazzling diamonds was added.  The time of day must be dawn as the snow covered ground looks blue, something which is very typical in the winter time - here in Ontario anyway.
The image was die cut using the circles framelit, and matted with a Starburst framelit in Pacific Point cardstock.  The two were attached together using dimensionals.  Then some silver glass glitter was added around the perimeter of the circle.
The ribbon used was 1 1/4" striped Pacific Point, which I cut in half lengthwise and frayed.

White Christmas in 2 Panels

 Well, how did you enjoy the 12 days of Christmas?  You have seen 24 inspiration cards which has hopefully got you going on your own Christmas cards.
My timing for this was impeccable!
Today, officially, my craft season starts.  This weekend I am at Harvest Fest in Buckhorn, Ont. for a 3 day event.  I am really looking forward to it as traditionally there are a lot of people who come and the decorations are so beautiful.  There are a lot of vendors as well.  I was very fortunate to get an invitation to be part of this juried event.
I set up this afternoon.
My plan is to take some pictures and do a brief blog everyday of this event - so stay tuned.

The second card of White Christmas is a partial case from a card I saw on Pinterest.  I stamped and coloured the image as usual, than created 2 equal panels that were matted with Early Espresso card stock.

White Winter meets Holiday Home

I think I mentioned before that I like combining stamp sets.  This card combines Holiday Home and White Winter. The snow looks a bit pinkish, but that's not unusual at dawn in the winter.

I started by sponging the sky using Marina Mist and Pacific Point inks. The snowflake stamp wasn't working on this sky, so I took some white acrylic paint, and with the end of a paint brush I dabbed white paint all over the sky to simulate snow flalling.
Then the trees were stamped with Memento ink.
On a separate piece of Whisper White one of the houses of Holiday Home was stamped with Memento ink and coloured with blendabilities.  It was then die cut using the Holiday Home framelit after which it was attached to the card front between the trees.
Some dazzling diamonds was added to the ground.
