Challenge 210 - Sale-a-brating

Challenge 210 is to feature a Sale-a-Bration product, which you get free when you spend $60.00 worth of SU products.
Early on I got the Patterned Occasions stamp set, so thought I would feature that by making 2 cards.

This features the stamp "Congratulations Smartie Pants".  The base of the card is Island Indigo, layered with Whisper White embossed with the Chevron folder.  The Sycamore Street Designer paper coordinated beautifully with the Island Indigo card stock.  The DSP also coordinated with the Summer Starfruit scalloped edge and the tiny flowers
The ribbon I used was the 1/4" Pool Party satin ribbon (SAB),

The next card looks very different from the first card even though I used the same stamp set and the same DSP.

This time I used Rich Razzelberry as the base, layered with Whisper White and then with Sycamore Street Designer paper.  The ribbon this time is Tangerine Tango (SAB)

I don't know which card I like better.  They are both so different looking.

Aviary Baby - Technostamper #249 & Challenge 209 LNS

I chose to do the card for the Technostamper sketch challenge here all in shades of blue as I needed a baby card for a little boy.  Plus this card could be for challenge 209 with the LNS group

I stamped the image of the owl from the Aviary stamp set on Whisper White, matted it with a scallop circle of Marina Mist, then another circle of Bashful blue and finally a Scallop circle of Marina Mist.
This owl unit was attached to Tea for Two DSP which was matted with Marina Mist.

The base card is Marina Mist, layered with Whisper White embossed with the Honeycomb folder
which is my favourite folder for the moment anyway.

I used the Labels Framelit to cut a frame around the sentiment, which was sponged around the edges and attached sideways to the Marina Mist mat around the DSP.

Blue Swallowtail - Challenge 209 LNS Feeling Blue

Actually, I have been feeling blue lately.  A lot of negative energy has been directly my way, and without going into details I have been feeling "down".  I feel a bit like the Swallowtail card that I made for the LNS challenge this week  - only half a wing works.
Here is the card:

The swallowtail was stamped with Versa mark and embossed with black embossing powder.  It was then colored with various shades of blue markers- Baja Breeze, Marina Mist, Tempting Turquoise, Bashful Blue and Pacific Point.  After it was colored, I cut the Swallowtail out, and mounted only half of it onto the Bashful Blue cardstock embossed with the Honeycomb folder - so only the left wing one is free.

Embossed Sea Horses - Chellenge 208 LNS

This week the challenge is to use heat embossing on a card or project.  Heat embossing is one of the techniques I like to do best as it always has that wow factor.  I don't think I ever get tired of watching the embossing powder change to a metallic sheen, in waves, right in front of my eyes.

In this another masculine card, I used heat embossing in various ways: on the image itself, for the scalloped border, in the center of a brad, as edging around the sentiment, and the sentiment itself. The image is from the By the Tide stamp set.  I now have 4 different masculine cards made using this set.

1. Image:  It was embossed with pewter embossing powder onto Whisper White card stock, punched out with the 1 3/4 by 7/8" oval punch and matted with a chocolate chip scallop oval punchie. This was attached to the Marina Mist panel with dimensionals.
2.  Scallop border: The Versa mark pad was used to put Versa mark on a large area of Whisper White card stock.  Pewter embossing powder was applied and heated with the embossing tool.  When cooled the edge was punched with the scallop border punch.
3.  Build your own brad: There was enough embossed paper left over after #2 that I punched a 1/2" circle and placed it inside the build a brad.
4.  Sentiment: The sentiment was stamped with Versa Mark onto Whisper White and embossed with Pewter embossing powder.  The decorative label punch was used to punch the sentiment.  A versa mark pen was used to apply Versa mark to the edges of the punchie and embossed.

The background of the card was made by lightly stamping the image of the seaweed in Always Artichoke ink and the fish in basic gray ink. The Square lattice embossing folder was used to emboss the background layer. Then I   The I  lightly sponged the edges and entire surface with Marina Mist ink.

I Love the "U" in Us - Challenge 205 Snowmen LNS

This week's challenge with the LNS group is "Snowmen" - use a snowman or snowmen in a project.  Since it is so close to Valentine's Day, my snowmen were busy making Valentines rather than snowballs.

My Favourite Christmas Colors - Challenge 200 LNS

This week's challenge is to make a project using my favourite Christmas colors.  Now that was a challenge for me, because I love so many colour combinations for Christmas, it was really hard to narrow it down.  Of course I love the traditional colors: red and green, but then I like green and brown together, and then there's gold and blue----- You get the idea.  Anyway, I settled on a dramatic color scheme of cherry cobbler and black - after all those are the colours of Santa's suit aren't they? The card is based loosely on a card I saw on Pinterest.

I started by die cutting a large Whisper White snowflake using the Snow Flurries die.  After Sunday's Christmas card class I had no silver glitter paper left, so I had to make my own glitter snowflake using Heat and Stick powder and glitter.  Turned out okay didn't it?  I die cut a smaller snowflake in Red Glitter paper. It was attached to the larger snowflake with dimensionals. The middle of the snowflake is a stamped image from Ornament Keepsakes and that is matted with a 1" scallop in Basic Gray.  The 2 are held together with a red glimmer brad.
Next I made the black banner, with the cherry cobbler flocked window sheet slightly smaller but longer.
Now comes the tricky part - the tulle ribbon.  I cut 2 scallops for each of the 4 clusters, twisted each piece and hot glued it to the whisper White embossed layer.  The black banner was placed on top of it using dimensionals.  The snowflake unit was then attached to the window sheet with hot glue.
