Hello Cupcakes is one of the new SAB offerings. It is a photopolymer stamp that makes very yummy looking ice cream cones.

It is coordinated with the new Gingham Gala DSP.

The Easel is make by scoring a 4  by 11" Balmy Blue card stock at 5 1/2" and one of the half pieces at  2 3/4".

Make a mountain fold at both score lines to form the basic Easel card.

A piece of Balmy Blue card stock cut at 5 1/2 by 4" forms the basis of the art piece.  On that is adhered a layer of Whisper white card stock embossed with the Trellis Embossing Folder.  A 1 1/2" piece of Balmy Blue gingham Gala DSP is adhered to the left side of this embossed piece with a die cut strip (Tasteful Trim Die) added at the DSP edge.

The art piece is  a 2 1/2 by 3 1/2" piece of Whisper White card stock.  Both top corners are punched with two of the Trio Corner punches (the floral followed by the corner rounder); the bottom two corners are punched only with the corner rounder punch. This art piece is matted with a 2 3/4 by 3 3/4" piece of Balmy Blue card stock which has all four of its corners rounded.

Early Espresso ink is used to stamp the cupcake base; the two scoops of ice cream are stamped in Balmy Blue ink.  Some Lucky Limeade sprinkles were added to the top scoop.

To make the ice cream look "creamier" I added a little bit of texture paste to the top and between the layers of the scoops.  While the paste was still wet I sprinkled some Dazzling  Diamonds over it.

A red heart on a stick was stamped on the top scoop.

The sentiment is added on a single notched banner adhered to the bottom of the art piece.

The space on the left of the art piece needed something, so I added a bow made with 1/8" white organza ribbon.

To keep the card in the upright position, a "kick plate" is adhered near the bottom end with Dimensionals

 The card, however, does close for mailing and fits into a regular envelope which I lined with the same Gingham Gala DSP.   No extra postage should be needed.

Lovely Lattice Easel Anniversary

I thought this week I would make some cards with folds.  It's been awhile since I've done that.

Today I'm placing an art piece made with the SAB stamp set "Lovely Lattice" on an Easel Card.  I love the Lovely Lattice stamp set, because, not unlike the "Peaceful Place" stamp set, it can be used many different ways.

For this card I am satisfying my urge to colour with Stampin' Blends.

There are many tutorial available to make this type of card fold and to refresh my memory I used the one at Splitcoaststampers although you can check on Pinterest and you will find a plethora of tutorials

The card base is a 4 1/4 by 11" piece of Lovely Lipstick card stock scored at  5 1/2 and 8.  Another piece of 4 1/4 by 5 1/2" piece of Lovely Lipstick was used to build the art piece on.

Using the Stamparatus and a 4 by 3" piece of Whisper White card stock, I stamped the image using Black Memento ink.  I so loved that I did not have to worry about the stamp falling off the glass plate as this is one of the new cling stamps.

I love colouring.  It's probably my most favourite activity  - especially with the Stampin' Blends. The flowers were coloured with both Light and  Dark Lovely Lipstick.  Shading was done using the  Balmy  Blue Stampin' Blend.  Daffodil Delight and a fine tip Basic Black marker were used to color the center of the card.

The leaves were coloured with Old Olive (light) and shaded with Blue.  I removed some of the color on the leaves using the Color Lifter and added Daffodil Delight.

I also used the Color Lifter to remove some of the colour on the petals making the flowers looks much more realistic.

Using the fine tip glue pen I added a thin layer of clear glue around the petals and then added Dazzling Diamonds.  Wow, does this make the flowers  sparkle!

The Lattice was lightly coloured with Light Sea Foam Green and again I used the color lifter to remove some of the color.  Then I added some Clear Wink of Stella.

The art piece was matted with a   piece of Lovely Lipstick cardstock.  This was adhered to the embossed layer of the 4 1/4 by 5 1/2" Lovely Lipstick.  The Whisper White layer was embossed with the Lattice embossing folder and I placed small pink rhinestones in the cross areas of the tufts.

To keep the card open I added a "kick plate" near the front of the card.  On this elevation I added the sentiment and a button with some ribbon wound through the eyes.

Before adhering this art piece to the 4 1/4 by 3 1/4"" piece of Lovely Lipstick, I adhered a piece of retired 1/8" white organza ribbon near the bottom and tied it into a bow.

Easel cards lie flat so they fit into an envelope for mailing.

Birthday Greetings for a Girl - another catalogue preview

The little girl depicted on the front of this card has two 12 by12" of DSP devoted to her.  So, I made her a star of this easel card.

The image was die cut using the layering ovals framelit and then embossed with clear embossing powder.  This art piece was matted with a blushing bride scallop oval and added to the card front using dimensionals.

The little girl has a vintage appearance, so the card front was designed to look vintage as well - by stamping images randomly in Daffodil Delight and Pacific Point on the top(wallpaper) a 2" strip of the striped DSP to the bottom, with a 1/4" strip of Pacific Point for the base board.  A piece of 1/4" Pacific Point stitched edge ribbon was placed around the card over the seam of the wallpaper.

The sentiment was stamped in Pacific Point ink and die cut using the stitched oval framelits.  The remainder of the sentiments was stamped on two balloons.  These balloons were stamped, coloured and die cut and adhered beside and above the sentiment with dimensionals.  A third balloon was added below the sentiment.

Three presents were also stamped, colored, die cut and placed below the bow.

The Easel card is maintained in an open position by a sentiment popped up with dimensionals.

Painting with Alcohol Wink of Stella

Oh no!  My Clear Wink of Stella glimmer brush went dry!

Thinking there had to be more life in this brush, I took it apart with a pair of pliers lifting out the center core.  I could see that there was still quite a bit of glitter left inside the core.

On Pinterest I had read that these brushes could be revived by adding water in the barrel, but I decided to add rubbing alcohol instead and reassembling the brush gave it a try. 

Wow!  I think it's better than it was before!

Now the fun began.  Grabbing some ink pads and an embossed image using the Floral Affection embossing folder, I began painting parts of the image.  It was easy, and the colours were brilliant.
The resultant image was made into an easel Easter card

The colours for this card were selected from the Affectionately Yours DSP- from the Crumb Cake basic Easel card to the Flirty Flamingo mat of the embossed art piece.

Embellishments in the form of flowers and ribbon also coordinated with the color scheme.  The flowers were made using the Petite Petal punch.  I made the centers by snipping a piece of Daffodil Delight cardstock, and rolling it up and then fluffing it after the adhesive was set.
Of course, Wink of Stella (clear) was applied to all parts of the flowers.

Country Living Easel Card

It's been a while since I made an Easel card, so decided to make one today.  However, I don't know if I'll be able to show it to you as for some reason my camera is not sending pictures to my computer.  I was able to scan some components into the computer, so that's where I will start until I can figure out a way to show the easel card in all its glory.

This is the front of the card with the Easel closed. The card base is Crumb Cake cardstock. On top of the Crumb Cake layer is s layer of Very Vanilla cardstock.

The truck is coloured with inks and a blender pen.  The cut out truck was then  placed against some retired sky-like DSP.  Below that DSP was a piece of  striped Crumb Cake DSP. Covering the seam between these two pieces of DSP is 1/2 of a 1 1/4" Crumb Cake striped ribbon which has been frayed.

On a separate piece of Whisper White cardstock, the boots and guitar images are stamped and coloured with ink and blender pens  Both are cut out and adhered to the lower card front using dimensionals.

This is the card opened up to show the bottom of the front.  Since this is a birthday card, I used the Hello You Thinlet "happy" die cut in Crumb Cake cardstock.  This also helps to provide a stopper for the top of the Easel.  The second work for the birthday phrase, "birthday" is from "Crazy About You"

Card makes Homepage at ORSA

Every month ORSA (Ontario Rubber Stamping Artists) yahoo group has a challenge.  The card is to be made and then uploaded into a folder.
The challenge in January was to create a blue and white glittery card - and the card I submitted (even though it has a bit of red on it) made the home page here

Snowflake Easel Card- The Friday Mashup

The challenge this week with the Friday Mashup is to make an easel card with snowflakes on it.

 The above shows the easel card closed.

To make the background, I randomly stamped the various size snowflakes from the Snow Swirled stamp set using Whisper White ink onto Pacific Point card stock.  When the ink was dry, I covered the entire surface with Versa Mark, covered it with Iridescent ice embossing powder and set with the embossing tool.
A butterfly was added because as the challenge said:  " A Snowflake is Winter's Butterfly"
