Happy 45th Anniversary

At the end of this month I have been invited to help celebrate the 45th wedding anniversary of a close cousin of a friend of mine.

I felt she and her husband deserved a very special card, so I pulled out my embossing folders, embossing powder, ribbon, stamps, and I made some very special flowers for this card.

To take this picture I placed the card and matching envelope in a clump of white geraniums.  I had difficulty getting the right lighting conditions inside.

The card base is Powder Pink embossed with the Spark embossing folder.  This folder was inked with Powder Pink ink prior to putting it through the Big Shor resulting in a pink background with white raised areas. A swipe with the ink pad across this embossed piece and the white raised areas were now pink.

The center of the card is comprised of two matted panels overlapping each other.  The panel at the back is Whisper White embossed with the new Striped Scallop Texture Embossing folder; the front panel is the lovely Petal Promenade DSP Bothe are matted with Powder Pink card stock

Both panels are adhered to the card front, overlapping each other and slightly off setting them.

Near the bottom I added a strip of Powder Pink which has a strip of card stock punched with the Decorative Ribbon punch.  I then added some Whisper White polka dot Organza ribbon and tied it in a bow on the right side.

The sentiment, from Better Together, was embossed in Silver and punched with the 2 1/2" circle punch.  The numbers "45" were stamped  from the retired "Metro Type Alphabet" set, embossed in Silver and fussy cut. The circle was adhered to the card front using dimensionals.

The flowers were stamped, colored with blendabilites, die cut using Beautiful Layers thinlets, shaped and then had Crystal Effects and Dazzling Diamonds added to each.  Three leaves were also stamped, colored and due cut.

Once dry the flowers were added to the upper right sentiment circle with the leaves added as shown on the card.

Oh, I also embossed the flap of the envelope.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Beautiful Promenade, Better Together, Metro Type Alphabet
Inks:  Powder Pink, Black Memento, Blendabilities (Petal Pink, Old Olive, light and dark), Versa Mark
Papers:  Powder Pink, Whisper White, Petal Promenade DSP
Accessories:  Sparkle Embossing Folder, Striped Scallop Texture Embossing Folder, 5/8" White Polka Dot Organza ribbon, 2 1/2" circle punch, Silver embossing powder, Crystal Effects, Dazzling Diamonds, Dimensionals, Beautiful Layering Thinlets

My First Christmas Card - Deck the Halls

Now that my July craft show is over, I am starting to make my Christmas cards.  Egad you say!!
Since I am booked up with Christmas shows I really have to start now.
This card, and the card on the next post, were made using the new Christmas stamp I was able to preorder, "Carols of Christmas"

I think I hummed the words to this Christmas carol the whole time I was making this card. "Deck the halls with  boughs of ivy ....."

I highlighted the words with Old Olive and Real Red markers, then die cut the resultant sentiment with Layering Circle framelits.  A mat of scallop Old Olive card stock was die cut at the same time, and the two were adhered together.

In between the words I stamped some Ivy leaves, and below a poinsettia and leaves.

The main card consists of Old Olive card stock, layered first with Whisper White embossed with the Sparkle embossing folder and Iridescent embossing powder and then a piece of Whisper White stamped with the Music Sheet background stamp.  The edges of this Music layer were distressed with scissors and then sponged with Basic Gray ink.  I adhered this layer to the embossed layer sideways.

A piece of Real Red stitched satin ribbon (retired) was added around the middle of the card, and the focal image was adhered to the right side using dimensionals.

Below the ribbon I adhered an Old Oval tree and 2 deer, all of which were die cut using the Card Builder framelits.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Carols of Christmas, Music Sheet Background Stamp
Inks:  Black Memento, Basic Gray, Soft Suede, Versa Mark, Markers (Old Olive, Real Red)
Papers:  Old Olive, Whisper White, Soft Suede
Accessories:  Sparkle embossing folder, Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder, 1/2" stitched satin Real Red ribbon, Card Front Builder Framelits, Dazzling Details (clear & red) both retired, dimensionals

Fresh Fruit Birthday - Stampin' Celebration Challenge

The Fresh Fruit stamp set and coordinating DSP remind me so much of childhood summer days, spending time in the orchard, in the fields with my mother and father, picking strawberries with my children, strawberry socials etc.
The Inspiration picture with Stampin' Celebration brought all that to the forefront.
This is the card I came up with - featuring strawberries.

  • Base cardstock is Watermelon Wonder, layered with Whisper White embossed with the Decorative Dots embossing folder.
  • On top of that is a 2" strip of Fresh Fruit DSP, and at an angle is a 3 5/8 by 2 3/8" piece of Watermelon Wonder cardstock embossed with the Sparkle embossing folder.
  • Image piece is 3 5/8 by 2 3/8" of Whisper White cardstock. It was stamped with Pear Pizzazz ink with the background stamp from "Here You Are" (stamp off once first in order to obtain a light wash like look)
  •  On a separate piece of  Whisper White cardstock 3 strawberries were stamped with Watermelon Wonder; their tops with Old Olive.  They were cut out by hand and adhered to the Image Piece - reassembling the strawberries there. Some clear Wink of Stella gave some sparkle to the berries.

  • The image piece was matted with 3 3/4 by 2 1/2" piece of Old Olive
  • The completed image piece was now adhered to the card front with dimensionals.
