You Are Awesome - SUO Challenges #192

This week's challenge with SUO Challenges is to create a project using only one colour.

For this challenge I made a triple layer card using the stamp from the Occasions Catalogue "Epic Celebrations" using the colour Night of Navy.

I used the tutorial with Splitcoaststampers as my guide to make this triple layer card. However, I  did make some adjustments to the measurements of the layers to fit an A2 card.

Layer dimensions:

Whisper White:  4 by 5 1/4"  card base layer
                           Layer 1:  4 1/2 by 3 1/4"
                           Layer 2: 3 1/2 by 2 1/4"
                           Layer 3: 2 1/2 by 1 3/8"
                           Sentiment: 1 5/8 by 5/8"

Night of Navy:  Card Base 4 1/4 by 5 1/2"
                          Mat for layer 1 4 5/8 by 3 5/8"
                          Mat for layer 2  3 3/4 by 2 3/8"
                          Mat for layer 3  2 5/8 by 1 1/4"
                          Mat for sentiment 1 7/8 by 7/8"

After the images were stamped and the layers put together using dimensionals,  the images were coloured with an aqua painter using a Night of Navy marker applied to a stamping block and then shaded using a blender pen.

Clear Wink of Stella was applied to most of the images.

To finish the card I added some retired Urban District Embellishments and a bow made using  Night of Navy Baker's twine.

Supplies Used:
Stamp:  Epic Celebrations
Ink:  Night of Navy ink pad and marker
Papers:  Whisper White, Night of Navy
Accessories:  Stampin' Dimensionals, Night of Navy Baker's Twine, Urban District embellishments, Clear Wink of Stella, Aqua Painter, Blender Pen

Happy Birthday Using the Lotus Blossom

This card is made as a special request from a staff member of the local hospital where I set up my table every 2 weeks.  She wanted a birthday card for her daughter, but could not give me too many specifics as to what she was looking for.  So, I put something together, and I hope she will like it.
I started by triple stamping the Lotus flower from the SAB Lotus blossom stamp using the following colours:  Melon Mambo, Calypso Coral and Blushing Bride.  The flowers were then cut out.

The Memories fun Frame was embossed and cut out, and using the Stamp-a-ma-jig stamped the sentiment in the middle of it, using Melon Mambo ink.  This frame was matted with gold foil paper.

The basic card is Coastal Cabana cardstock, layered with Whisper white and then Gold Soiree DSP.
Before adhering the Whisper white and DSP layer to the Coastal Cabana  cardstock a piece of  1/4 " Coastal Cabana ribbon (SAB)  from the Best Year Ever Accessory Pack was attached near the bottom.

The Memories Fun Frame was adhered near the top of the card, and the lotus blosom flowers added below the frame.  Dazzling details was added to the edges of each of the flowers.

Lotus Blossom Thank You

Around this time of year you can never have too many Thank You cards.  And ever since I saw the Lotus Blossom stamp in the Sale-a-bration catalogue, I've been eager to play with it.
However, to my chagrin, it wasn't the easiest stamp to work with.  I had to stamp it at least 4 times with different colour combinations until I was satisfied.

This is a 3 step stamping set, and SU has very nicely labelled in which order the flower should be stamped.
I started out with the darkest colour - Blackberry Bliss - followed by an Intermediate colour - Perfect Plum- and finally Wisteria Wonder.  But when I used the Wisteria Wonder, I stamped off once or else the colour was too intense.
The stem is also 2 step stamping, starting with Old Olive and finishing with Pear Pizzazz.

You can order any of the above products from my On-Line store, the link to which is in the side bar of this blog.

In addition to the above, I used the following:
Lotus Blossom stamp set (SAB)
Printed Blooms DSP (Occasions Catalogue)
Both of these will be available Jan. 6, 2015

The Open Sea Triple Stamping - The Friday Mashup #

What a situation we have in southern Alberta!  The flood there is of historic proportions, filling the streets of Calgary and 20 other communities with water.  It is estimated that the flood extends 500 km and over 100,000 people have been displaced.
The Calgary Stampede is scheduled to begin there in 8 days, but the Saddle Dome is also flooded and has water up to row 6 in the arena, so I don't see how this can be accomplished.  Plus the Trans Canada highway has been washed away so no car traffic can go in and out this area.
These flood waters are moving south and east towards Sasketchewan and Manitoba potentially causing flooding there as well.

The challenge with the Friday Mashup here this week is triple stamping using 3 of the following colours:  Crumb Cake, Summer Starfruit, Pacific Point or Daffodil Delight.  I chose Crumb Cake, Summer Starfruit and Pacific Point and used the stamp set "The Open Sea"

Check out this earlier post for directions and dimensions : http://craftymariasstampingworld.blogspot.ca/2012/09/thinking-of-you-triple-layer-stamping.html

Here's a list of the materials I used:
