Beautiful You Birthday Fab Friday #139

Some weeks are good; some not so good.

Last week was one of those weeks where I was in too much pain, and too tired to even think about going to the craft room.  It was enough just getting off the couch.

I was waiting for a doctor to phone me with test results and a diagnosis, but he failed to call.  This was the third call he missed.  I was so disappointed, angry, upset etc I felt like a deflated balloon.  Up until now I had put on a strong face and kept to my usual routine, but after the 3rd missed call I just could not do it anymore!

Today I made a concerted effort to create something, Perhaps not my best work, but its a start.

I made this card for the sketch challenge with Fab Friday here

The base card of Tranquil Tide card stock layered with embossed Whisper White cardstock forms the basis of this card.

The focal image is placed in the right side.  It's wonderful when one can use die cuts from other projects.  And that's exactly what I did.  The image was stamped on a left over Whisper White lots of labels die cut.  Raindrops (from the stamp set Weather Together) were stamped with Pool Party around he image, and the image colored with watercolor pencils and a blender pen.

This die cut was adhered to another left over Tranquil Tide Oval with dimensionals.

The sentient was stamped on Vellum with a strip of 'tranquil Tide punch with the ticket punch adhered  at the bottom edge. This was placed on the lower part of the focal image.

For added interest I added some gold foil thread inserted in the left side.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Beautiful You, Weather Together
Inks:  Black Memento, Watercolor Pencils, Pool Party
Papers:  Tranquil Tide, Whisper White, Vellum
Accessories:  Lots of Labels Framelits, Oval Framelits, Gold Thread, Blender Pen, Dimensionals, Ticket Edge punch, Scattered Sequins Embossing Folder

Happy Anniversary Cake Soiree using Eclipse Technique

I'm really happy with the way this anniversary card turned out.

I opted to use a silver and white color scheme for this elegant card with just a hint of color on the flowers on the cake. Using the eclipse technique contributed to the elegance of this card.

The basic card is a top fold Thick Whisper White, layered with Silver Foil and then Whisper White embossed with the Sequins embossing folder.

Before adhering the embossed Whisper White layer to the Silver Foil layer, it was die cut with 2 sizes of oval framelits.  I did the same thing using Silver Foil.  The cake was built on the die cut oval, which was adhered to the silver foil layer.  The silver foil frame was added to the card front using foam adhesive strips (eclipse technique).  The embellishment at the upper right was made by silver embossing and die cutting one of the flowers and two leaves and adhering them with dimensionals.

Here's a side view of the eclipsed oval frame.

Sentiment is from "Best Birds"

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Cake Soiree, Best Birds
Inks:  Versa Mark, Markers (Sea side foam, powder pink)
Papers:  Thick Whisper White, Silver Foil, Whisper White
Accessories:  Silver embossing powder, Sweet Cake Framelits, Layering Oval Framelits, Scattered Sequins embossing folder, Dimensionals

Shimmer Butterfly card - To Cheer You

I made this 5 by 7" card at the request of a student who has a fellow worker aged 26 diagnosed with cancer.
I did not want to make a card that looked like a sympathy card, nor did I want it to look too cheerful. This is what I settled on.

After making the butterfly in the previous post, I decided to experiment making another butterfly this time using the more detailed framelit and thinlet as my mask and Prussian Blue Brusho crystals along with the Shimmer Texture paste. I had to be careful I did not use too much of the Prussian Blue Crystals as this is a very intense colour.

After taping the butterfly framelit and thinlet onto watercolour paper, I sprinkled only a tiny amount of Prussian Blue Brusho Crystals onto them, followed by the application of a generous amount of Shimmer Texture Paste.

The result was a lovely pale blue.  After the paste dried, the butterfly was die cut using the corresponding framelit die.

Then using the Iridescent glimmer paper  from the Myths and Magic Glimmer Paper Pack, I die cut a butterfly thinlet and adhered it to the die cut butterfly which was now dry.

The excess coloured paste was applied to a piece of Whisper White card stock, and when dry, I punched out 4  scallop circles (1 1/4").  The butterfly were mounted on these.

The butterflies were mounted on some Whole Lot of Lovely DSP edged with a strip of Iridescent Glimmer Paper.

This was adhered to a Whisper White layer embossed the Scattered Sequin Embossing Folder, which in turn was adhered to a Soft Sky cardstock base.

Supplies Used:
Stamp:  Friendly Phrases (non SU)
Ink:  Black Memento
Papers:  Watercolour, Whisper White, Soft Sky, Whole Lot of Lovely DSP, Iridescent Glimmer Paper
Accessories:  Bold Butterfly Framelits, Butterfly framelits, 1 1/4" scallop circle punch, 3/8" Pool Party shimmer ribbon, Scattered Sequin Embossing Folder, Dimensionals, 1/2" circle punch, Shimmer Texture Paste, Brusho Prussian Blue Crystals

Perfect Birthday Card #2

This is the second of the birthday cards I made yesterday featuring the Picture Perfect DSP

This time I cut the party hats out of the DSP, sponged the edges and applied glitter to the pom pom on the top and the frills around the bottom.
This time the card base is Berry Burst card stock layered with Whisper White embossed with the scattered sequins embossing folder.  On the left side is 2" piece of a different pattern paper from the same paper pack.
I added some Lucky Limeade ribbon along the edge of the DSP and placed a bow along the bottom.
The hats were adhered to the card front - the pink on directly onto the card front, and the other one with dimensionals.
The sentiment is from "Amazing You", a SAB stamp.

Along the upper right I placed 3 Lucky Limeade faceted gems.

You're My Valentine -Hand Stamped Sentiments #280

I made this card for the challenge with Hand Stamped Sentiments

I love the Painted Love DSP but all the metallic in it puts glare in my pictures.

I embossed the front of the Rich Razzelberry card base with the Scattered Sequins embossing folder.

In the center of the card is placed some Painted Love DSP and on top of that a strip of the reverse side of the DSP which I notched at both ends using the Triple Punch.

I used the stamparatus to stamp the heart with its sentiment inside.  Because there was no framelit for this size of heart, I fussy cut the heart and placed it on a gold foil scalloped square using dimensionals.

I added a couple of gold foil floral pieces on top of the right side of the heart.

Supplies Used:
Stamp:  Sure Do Love You
Inks:  Rich Razzelberry, Calypso Coral
Papers:  Rich Razzelberry, Painted Love DSP, Gold Foil, Whisper White
Accessories:  Triple Punch Dimensionals. Lots of Love Box franelits,  Layering Squares Framelits, Scattered Sequins Embossing Folder

Heartfelt Blooms (Sale-a-bration sneak peek) - thank you

I hope everyone had a wonderful (and warm) start to the New Year. If you're living in Canada, the thermometer is depicting extreme Artic conditions.  Last night the temperature in Peterborough, Ont. was minus 30 degrees (C).

Because it's been so cold any thought of outdoor New Year's activities was canceled, so it was a perfect time to stay in the craft room and play with some new catalogue products as well as the Stamparatus. Heartfelt Blooms was number one.

Only 2 more days and the products (with the exception of the Stamparatus which will be available for order in the new catalogue in June) will be available for order.

I'm really surprised how much detail showed when this relatively large flower from the "Heartfelt Blooms" stamp set was stamped.  I used the new Stamparatus, not because I needed to, but because I wanted to play with my new "toy".

Berry Burst was used to stamp the image onto Whisper White cardstock, which was then matted with Berry Burst card stock. Three metal rimmed pearls were placed on the upper right of this art piece.

The card base is Berry Burst,, layered with Whisper White embossed with the new Scattered Sequins embossing folder.  Towards the left, a strip of Perfect Party DSP was added, and some Berry Burst crinkled Seam Binding ribbon added over the seam.

The art piece was added to the card front using dimensionals.

The sentiment was stamped with Berry Burst on  a piece of Whisper White notched at both ends.

A bow made with the crumpled seam binding was added to the left side of the art piece.

Supplies Used:
Stamp:  Heartfelt Blooms
Ink:  Berry Burst
Papers:  Berry Burst, Whisper White, Perfect Party DSP
Accessories: Scattered Sequins Embossing Folder, 1/2" crumpled Berry Burst seam binding, dimensionals, metal rimmed pearls. Stamparatus
