Thank You Shaker - The Paper Players #439

Time is almost up for the Occasions Catalogue and the 2018-2019 Annual Catalogue as the new Annual Catalogue is waiting to emerge.

For the sketch challenge with The Paper Players I took the opportunity to use the "Humming Along" stamp set one more time - in the form of not only a shaker card, but a tulle shaker card.

Why a tulle shaker versus a regular shaker?  A tulle shaker is not only much lighter in weight, it is thinner as well, making it less costly to mail.

On a Melon Mambo card base was adhered a piece of Whisper White card stock embossed with the Curls & Swirls embossing folder.

A strip of Garden Impressions DSP was added vertically to the left side; another strip of similar size with a different pattern of the same DSP was added horizontally.

After all was firmly adhered, a circle, using the layering circle dies, was die cut in the card front. Around the circle was added a Melon Mambo frame which was made by die cutting two different sizes of the circle dies at the same time. Behind this circle a tulle 'pouch' with shaker elements was added creating the shaker card.

On a separate piece of Whisper White card stock, a single Hibiscus was stamped and coloured with Stampin Blends.  The flower was coloured with Melon Mambo (light) first with shading done with dark Melon Mambo, followed by Cherry Cobbler and light Night of Navy.  The closer to the center of the flower, the darker the colouring. The stamen was coloured Daffodil Delight with a touch of Melon Mambo. Old Olive was used to colour the stem and single leaf.

The completed flower was die cut and added to the right side of the circle.

Stamped in Melon Mambo ink, the sentiment was matted with Melon Mambo card stock and adhered to the card front using dimensionals

Supplies Used:
Stamp:  Humming Along
Inks:  Black Memento, Melon Mambo, Stampin' Blends (Melon Mambo, Cherry Cobbler, Night of Navy, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive)
Papers:  Melon Mambo, Whisper White, Garden Impression DSP
Accessories:  Layering Circle dies, Tulle, Shaker Elements, Swirls & Curls Embossing Folder, Humming Bird dies, Dimensionals.

If Flowers Were Hugs....

If only flowers were hugs I would be getting hugs all summer long.  But for now I have to be content with flowers on my cards.  And since flowers attract humming birds - bonus!!!

The Humming Along stamp set also features a Humming Bird, who is the star of this card.  I haven't made a shaker for a while and had the urge to do so for this card.

The card base is Coastal Cabana.

To create the shaker, some Tea Room DSP is first adhered to some Very Vanilla card stock.  The window for the shaker is created using a stitched rectangle framelit which die cut through both layers. Before adding the window sheet it was placed over a same size piece of Very Vanilla and  the boundaries of the window were drawn with a pencil mark.

Window sheet was then adhered on the wrong side of this window and foam adhesive tape applied all the way around it, as well as the card edges.

On the piece of Very Vanilla card stock with the pencil lines marked on it, images from Abstract Impressions were stamped randomly in Melon Mambo, Costal Cabana, and Granny Apple Green, stamping just beyond the pencil marked boundary.

Shaker Elements were comprised of Sprinkle Embellishments as well as tiny butterflies left over from an earlier project. A few tiny butterflies were saved to apply to the card front (see picture below).

The flowers and leaves decorating the outside of the shaker are from Abstract Impressions and were fussy cut.

The die cut  brightly, multicoloured hummingbird was adhered over the shaker close to the larger of the two flowers as if it were eating nectar from the flowers.

Clear Wink of Stella was applied to the entire tiny bird.

Self adhesive sequins, as well as tiny butterflies, were added to the card front as indicated by the various pictures.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Humming Along, Abstract Impressions
Inks:  Black Memento, Stampin Blends for the bird, Melon Mambo, Granny Apple Green, & Coastal Cabana for behind the shaker, Melon Mambo for the larger flowers & Pear Pizzazz for the leaves.
Papers:  Coastal Cabana, Whisper White, Tea Room DSP, Melon Mambo, Gorgeous Grape
Accessories:  Humming Along Framelits, Stitched Rectangle Framelit Dies, Butterfly Pretty Framelit Dies, Window Sheet, Foam adhesive strips, Sprinkle Embellishments, Clear Wink of Stella, Dimensionals, Self Adhesive Sequins

Hibiscus - I Yearn for My Garden

Another Colorado low , is heading our way - the second one in as many weeks, bringing with it lots of snow.  Soon we will be running out of places to put the  shovelled  snow.  This has been a brutal winter so far and its not over yet.

At times like this I yearn for my garden.  The "Humming Along" stamp set does that for me, especially the Hibiscus.  So I made a birthday card featuring this flower.

The front of a top fold Thick Whisper White card base was embossed with the Swirls and Curls Embossing Folder.

On top of this was added a Melon Mambo frame, made by die cutting two sizes of the Stitched Rectangle framelits.

The Hibiscus flower, as well as an extra leaf, was stamped and coloured on a separate piece of Whisper White card stock.  Both light and dark Melon Mambo blendabilites were used for the flower; Daffodil Delight on the large stamen; and Night of Navy in the center.  The stem and leaves were coloured with Granny Apple Green and light Daffodil Delight.

After die cutting the flower and extra leaf with the Humming Framelit dies (there is a die for the flower and leaf) it was added to the card front using dimensionals.  The extra leaf was attached to the stem adjacent to the other leaf.

No card is complete without bling, so Dazzling Diamonds was applied to the flower only.

The sentiment, die cut using this shaped framelit, had its edges sponged lightly with Melon Mambo ink before it was added to the card front above the flower also with dimensionals (see picture below)
