Thank You Shaker - The Paper Players #439

Time is almost up for the Occasions Catalogue and the 2018-2019 Annual Catalogue as the new Annual Catalogue is waiting to emerge.

For the sketch challenge with The Paper Players I took the opportunity to use the "Humming Along" stamp set one more time - in the form of not only a shaker card, but a tulle shaker card.

Why a tulle shaker versus a regular shaker?  A tulle shaker is not only much lighter in weight, it is thinner as well, making it less costly to mail.

On a Melon Mambo card base was adhered a piece of Whisper White card stock embossed with the Curls & Swirls embossing folder.

A strip of Garden Impressions DSP was added vertically to the left side; another strip of similar size with a different pattern of the same DSP was added horizontally.

After all was firmly adhered, a circle, using the layering circle dies, was die cut in the card front. Around the circle was added a Melon Mambo frame which was made by die cutting two different sizes of the circle dies at the same time. Behind this circle a tulle 'pouch' with shaker elements was added creating the shaker card.

On a separate piece of Whisper White card stock, a single Hibiscus was stamped and coloured with Stampin Blends.  The flower was coloured with Melon Mambo (light) first with shading done with dark Melon Mambo, followed by Cherry Cobbler and light Night of Navy.  The closer to the center of the flower, the darker the colouring. The stamen was coloured Daffodil Delight with a touch of Melon Mambo. Old Olive was used to colour the stem and single leaf.

The completed flower was die cut and added to the right side of the circle.

Stamped in Melon Mambo ink, the sentiment was matted with Melon Mambo card stock and adhered to the card front using dimensionals

Supplies Used:
Stamp:  Humming Along
Inks:  Black Memento, Melon Mambo, Stampin' Blends (Melon Mambo, Cherry Cobbler, Night of Navy, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive)
Papers:  Melon Mambo, Whisper White, Garden Impression DSP
Accessories:  Layering Circle dies, Tulle, Shaker Elements, Swirls & Curls Embossing Folder, Humming Bird dies, Dimensionals.

Bear Hug Valentine Spinner Card

I just love making spinner cards - and what a good way to use up those unused pennies lying around. I used the "Bear Hug" stamp set to make this card.  For guidance I used the tutorial by Dawn

The base card is Whisper White cardstock.  The bottom 3/4 is layered with Real Red cardstock into which the spinning slot is made.  Above that is "Love Blossoms" DSP

Between the two types of paper is a row of small red glimmer hearts.

The smaller of the two bears is stamped with Chocolate Chip ink and die cut using the coordinating framelits.  A hat and bow tie were stamped with Real Red ink and also die cut, and then adhered to the bear.  The edges of the bear were sponged with Chocolate Chip ink.

The slot was made into the Real Red cardstock with the Word Window punch, and the bear, attached to the sliding mechanism (two pennies stuck together with a dimensional) with a dimensional.  This was done before adhering the cardstock to the card front.

The heart was stamped with Black Memento ink and die cut using the same framelits.

Supplies Used:
Stamp:  Bear Hug
Inks: Chocolate chip, Real Red, Black Memento
Papers:Whisper White, Real Red, Love Blossoms DSP, Red Glimmer Paper
Accessories: Word Window Punch, Small Heart Punch, Bear Hug Framelits, Cherry Cobbler dazzling details

Bear Hugs Valentine - Can You Case It #102

December weather was very deceiving.  It was so mild, the ground did not freeze, and we got no snow.  Christmas Day was very warm.  But - when January arrived, so did winter!  With a wallop!! Yesterday we got dumped with snow, and today another major snowfall is burying us.  The snow is coming down so fast there's no use going out shovelling. See pictures below.

Today's card is a Valentine's Day card using the new stamp set "Bear Hugs" from the Occasions Catalogue.  I used the sketch challenge with Can You Case It

CYCI#102
  • The 2 bears were stamped with Soft Suede ink and die cut using the coordinating "Bear Hugs Framelits".  On a piece of Real Red ink, the heart was stamped using Black Memento and die cut using the same framelits.  Another small red heart was punched from Real Red cardstock using the small heart punch.

  • The base card is Real Red ink, layered with Color Me Irrestibly DSP with the wood grain pattern.  Crumb Cake ink was sponged over the surface, and adhered to the card base.
  • The larger heart was glued to the middle of the larger bear and brushed with Wink of Stella.  The smaller heart was added to the belly of the smaller bear and also glittered.
  • A 1 1/2 by 4" piece of Love Blossoms DSP was added near the middle, and a strip of Real Red cardstock embossed with the strip of hearts embossing folder (retired).
Before adhering this embossed strip, the small bear was attached with the legs under the strip, leaving the right hand unattached.
  • After attaching the Real Red embossed strip, the larger bear was adhered with dimensionals with its feet extending over the strip.
  • The sentiment is from "Good Greetings" and is stamped in Soft Suede on Whisper White.  The edges of this are sponged with Crumb Cake.
  • On the upper right some "It's My Party Enamel dots"
