Dashing Deer on Gold Spritz background

For this card I made a spritz using alcohol and the gold shimmer paint and used this spritz to create a background for the Dashing Deer.

I don't have a recipe, just adding gold shimmer paint to alcohol in a spritzer until I was happen with the color when I spritzed it on a piece of Whisper white card stock.

This gold spritz was sprayed on a 3 3/4 by 5" piece of Watercolor paper.  I was impatient, so rather than waiting for the spritzed paper to dry I used my heat tool.  This was much faster.

The deer and corner pieces were die cut in gold foil and adhered to the watercolor background piece using the sizzix adhesive sheets.  Because the foil is so reflective it is hard to get a good picture.

The watercolor paper was matted with gold foil and this was added to a Whisper White base.

The sentiment was embossed with  gold embossing powder on Whisper White card stock, matted with gold foil and added to the lower card using dimensionals.

The sentiment on the inside was also gold embossed.

Supplies Used:
Stamp:  Dashing Deer
Inks:  Versa Mark
Papers:  Whisper White, Gold Foil, Watercolor Paper
Accessories:  Gold Shimmer Paint, Alcohol, Detailed Deer Thinlets, Gold embossing powder

Altered Legal Pad using Holiday Catalogue products - SUO Challenge #209

I think this Holiday catalogue is one of my favourite one so far.  Many of the stamp sets and/or other products work together so well.

Making 3D items or altering existing objects is one of my favourite activities, so it was natural that for the challenge with SUO Challenges  this week  I use products(s) from the current Holiday Catalogue, alter a legal pad.

  • Crumb Cake card stock 10 1/2 by 8 1/8".  Score 5 1/16 and 5 3/8"
  • Cajun Craze 4 3/4 by 7 7/8"
  • Whisper White 4 1/2" by 7 5/8"
Inside:
  • Top of Legal Pad Cajun Craze 5 by 3"  Score at  1 1/2 and 1 3/4
  • Adhere a piece of 5/8" Striped  Burlap ribbon to the lower edge.
  • Adhere to top of legal pad with longer piece on back.Adhere entire legal pad to inside of Crumb Cake cover

Whisper White Art Piece:
  • I designed the front of his Altered Legal Pad in 2 sections - an upper and lower - using mainly The Winter Wood stamp set.
  • Upper  On a lightly brayered Balmy /blue sky I stamped the 5 tree image in Early Espresso. just slightly off center.  The shadows at the base were stamped with Mossy Meadow ink.

Lower:
  • On the right side the strand of birch tree branches were stamped with Soft Suede ink against a lightly brayered Balmy Blue sky.
  • Beside it, on the left, the larger pine tree was stamped in Mossy Meadow Ink.
  • Below both I stamped the shadows in a mixture of Mossy Meadow and Crumb Cake.
  • On a separate piece of Whisper White one of the deer from Deer Splendor was embossed with gold embossing powder and die cut with the coordinating dies/framelits.
  • This die cut deer was adhered in front of the Pine tree.
  • The sentiment, from Country Home, was embossed with Pewter embossing powder on Whisper White,  die cut using the Stitched Seasons framelits, and then adhered over the bunch of birches. Small pine cones from Winter Woods were stamped with Soft Suede on either side of the sentiment.

To separate the two sections, I adhered a strip of 5/8" striped Burlap ribbon.  On the left side a separate piece of this ribbon is folded in half, the ends cut at an angle at different lengths and then adhered to the left side using glue dots.  On top of this angled ribbon I add a leaf embellishment.

Winter Woods & Dashing Deer Lighted Shadow Box

This 8 by 10" lighted shadow box was an idea that was brewing in the back of my mind for quite some time. Today I made one after an extensive search for the battery operated string lights which I put in a "safe place".

As I mentioned, this is a metallic rimmed 8 by 10 shadow box which I purchased on sale at a competitor's store at the end of last season.  I somehow knew I was going to make a lighted shadow box even then.

Here's what the finished product looks like from the side:

Happiest Christmas Wishes

A number of my customers have asked me "what do you do with the stamp with the Birch trees on them?" from the Winter Woods stamp set?
So I made a card showing one way to use this stamp.

I started with a card base of Night of Navy card stock, layering it with Silver Foil card stock and then the art piece upon the scene is built.

On a piece of 2 by 3 1/2" piece of Night of Navy card stock, I stamped the image of the birch trees twice with Versa Mark and embossed them with White embossing powder.
Then I die cut two leafless trees with Whisper White card stock and adhered them in front of the birch trees.

Before adding the glitter texture paste I stamped the small deer from "Dashing Deer"in Night of Navy ink, embossed it with clear embossing powder, and then die cut it using the coordinating framelit. Using Smoky Slate ink I stamped the "shadow" and then adhered the die cut deer on the card front above the shadow.
Glitter texture paste, to mimic snow, was then added to the base of the birch trees extending to the ground underneath the deer and to the other end of the card.

The sentiment, from "Versatile Christmas" was stamped with Versa Mark and Night of Navy inks on Whisper White card stock, and embossed with Clear embossing powder.  This piece was matted with Night of Navy card stock and added to the card front above the deer.
