Orchid Birthday - Paper Craft Crew Challenges #284

I love making flowers and the Orchid is an example.  I used this flower in the challenge with Paper Craft Crew Challenge here  in conjunction with the Springtime Foil DSP ( I love that paper).

I used the Stamparatus to stamp the orchid pieces, using a template I made by die cutting all the flower pieces.  The images were stamped  with Berry Burst ink directly onto the flower pieces by placing each piece in the corresponding die cut in the template.

The orchids pieces were made into two complete flowers and set aside.  Two leaves were punched with the Leaf punch and formed with a stylus and also set aside.

The card base is Berry Burst card stock, layered with Whisper White and then Silver Foil. A 2" piece of striped Springtime foil DSP was adhered to the lower foil, and a silver trim was added over the seam.

The Springtime DSP was also used to make a banner on the right side. Then a top angled tag with a copper  trim  bow added to the top was adhered over the banner.  The sentiment, from "Special Celebrations" was stamped on the bottom of this tag.

Now I adhered the Orchids - the smaller one at the bottom.  The leaves were added to the larger Orchid on either side.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Climbing Orchid, Special Celebration
Inks:  Berry Burst, Black Memento, Daffodil Delight
Papers:  Whisper White, Silver Foil, Springs=time Foil DSP, Garden Green
Accessories:  1/8" copper trim, 3/8" natural silver trim, Angle top tag punch, Orchid builder framelits, Stamparatus Leaf Punch

Climbing Orchid Swap cards

These are my 3 swap cards with my Yahoo group. I elected to use the Climbing Orchid stamp set with its coordinating Orchid Builder framelits seeing as the focus was to be on using dies/punches on our cards.

As an extra feature I added an Embossing Paste background using the Brick Decorative Mask.  The embossing paste was coloured with Tangerine Tango re-inker.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Climbing Orchids
Inks:  Berry Burst, Lemon Lime Twist, Rich Razzelberry, Garden Green, Black Memento, Tangerine Tango re-inker

Orchids - SUO Challenges #179

The challenge with SUO challenges this week is to feature a favourite product from the new annual catalogue.  There are so many wonderful products that it was hard to choose one, but the Orchid stamp set with its coordinating framelits won my heart.  I'm just a flower gal I guess.

Four Orchid blossoms were created and then adhered to a  curved wire with three leaves were attached  near the bottom of the stem.

Each orchid flower consists of 3 layers - four if the center is counted.
Except for the stamen, all layers were stamped with Rich Razzelberry ink - the top 2 on Sweet Sugarplum and the bottom on Rich Razzelberry.  The center was stamped with Crushed Curry on Daffodil Delight card stock.  The leaves were stamped using Always Artichoke ink on Old Olive card stock.

After die cutting each flower layer with the coordinating framelit dies, the edges were sponged with Rich Razzelberry ink - even the center.  In addition, the flower center was also dotted with a Rich Razzelberry marker.

Each petal was shaped and formed with a stylus and  bone folder and then layered together, adhering them with a glue gun - starting with the Rich Razzelberry petal on the bottom

I used the hot glue gun to adhere them to the wire stem.

The edges of the leaves were sponged with Always Artichoke ink, and after shaping and forming with a stylus and bone folder, they were adhered near the bottom of the stem.

Supplies Used:
Stamp: Climbing Orchid
Inks:  Rich Razzelberry, Always Artichoke, Rich Razzelberry marker
Papers:  Rich Razzelberry, Sweet Sugarplum, Old Olive
Accessories:  Orchid Builder framelits. plant wire

Climbing Orchid - Hand Stamped Sentiments #267

I made this orchid card for the color challenge with Hand Stamped Sentiments
This is a stamp set I have wanted to play with ever since the new catalogue came out, but life happened.
When I saw the color challenge:  Lemon Lime twist, Rich Razzelberry, and Dapper Denim I knew I had my chance.  One of my down line told me today that her orchid is blooming today and in exactly these colors.

The orchids were first stamped with Rich Razzelberry and lightly colored in  the center and edges with a Lemon Lime Twist marker.  The center part of the flower was stamped with Lemon Lime Twist with the stamens stamped in Rich Razzelberry.  These  flower parts were die cut using the Orchid Builder Framelits. I also stamped and die cut two buds.

The center was added to each flower with a dimensional and Wink of Stella applied

To make a stem for the orchids, I die cut a branch from Layering Seasons Framelits in Dapper Denim and inserted it in a jar stamped with "Jar of Love framelits" and die cut with the "Everyday Jar Framelits".  Using a blender pen I colored with jar edges while the ink was still wet.  I also stamped in some water for the jar bottom , added some dot stamps from Timeless Texture and applied some Wink of Stella.

Before adding the branch in the jar, I stamped two floral images (not the stems) from the Jar of Love stamp set in Lemon Lime Twist. Then I added the flowers to the branch with dimensionals.

The buds were adhered to the top of the branch of the stem.

Finally, I stamped, die cut, and adhered a Dapper Denim bow at the neck of the jar.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Climbing Orchid, Jar of Love, Timeless Texture
Inks:  Lemon Lime Twist, Dapper Denim, Rich Razzelberry
Papers:  Dapper Denim, Lemon Lime Twist, Whisper White
Accessories:  Orchid Builder Framelits, Everyday Jar Framelits, Layering Seasonal Framelits, Dimensionals, Wink of Stella (clear)
