Floral Delight - Try Stampin on Tuesday or Not #321

While I am enjoying the spring weather, I am missing flowers growing in my garden.  It has been too cool for the plants to emerge from the ground.

Making paper flowers is a good substitute for working with real plants and encourages the use of my creative side.

For the sketch challenge with Try Stampin on Tuesday or Not this week, I challenged myself to make some 3D flowers for this sketch - not so 3D that the card wouldn't fit into an envelope or the card wouldn't  fit through that dreaded "slot" at the post office.

I must admit I selected the DSP first and colored the flowers to coordinate with that. The Blooms & Bliss DSP is just beautiful and am sad to see it retire by June. I used a 3 3/4 by 5 piece of the DSP which was adhered to a 4 by 5 1/4" Whisper White cardstock layer.

The art piece is a 3 by 3 3/4" piece of Whisper White embossed with the decorative dots embossing folder.  This I matted with Sahara Sand card stock before adhering it to the card front.

Instead of placing circles on the art panel, I made 2 different styles of paper flowers.

The two smaller flowers were made by punching 2 whisper White daisies, coloring them with an Island Indigo marker and then spritzed each flower lightly to blend the colors.  When the flowers were dry enough I shaped both flowers and adhered them together alternating the petals.  Two small stamens were die cut using the Botanical Builder framelits, shaped using a stylus, and added to the center of each flower. Some liquid pearls in the center and the flower itself is complete.  I punched two leaves for each flower and glued them to the flower bottom.

For the flower in the center I used the Pansy punch, again punching 2 flowers, coloring and spritzing them, and when partially dry shaped the petals by literally squeezing each petal between thumb and forefinger. After adhering them together alternating petals, two black stamens (die cut using the Botanical builder framelit) were inserted into the center. Two leaves were glued to the underside.

All three flowers were spritzed with a glimmer spray and then adhered to the art panel using tombo glue. A close up of the flowers is below.

Supplies Used:
Stamps: Teeny Tiny Wishes
Inks: Island Indigo, Old Olive
Papers: Island Indigo, Whisper White, Sahara Sand, Blooms & Bliss DSP, Old Olive, Mint Macaron, Basic Black
Accessories: Decorative Dots embossing folder, Botanical Builder framelits, Daisy punch, Pansy Punch, Liquid Pearls (non SU), flower forming tools, spritzer (with water)

Now it's your turn to create something using this sketch, then upload it to the Try Stampin' on Tuesday or Not blog site or their Facebook page
The challenge runs for 2 weeks.
Looking forward to seeing your work.

Calendar Easel Card with Post it Note and Pen

I happened to pick up the mini calendars at the Dollar store, and came across a picture of an Easel card that included a mini calendar, post it note and pen.  It took me a while, but I figured out how to make this card.  Now, if I could only find a source for these mini calendars in Canada!!

A video made by Frances Martin here gave me some ideas on how to made different Easel cards.  However, I wanted to include a pen and a Post it note.

This is what I came up with.

The front of the card is 5 1/2 by 4 1/4", lined with Whisper White, and then striped Pacific Point DSP.  In the middle is another piece of DSP, but the reverse side, and this is matted with Whisper White.

The calendar is mounted on a piece of Pacific Point card stock approximately the same size as the calendar, and then attached to the card front just above the half way point and over to the left side.

The card front is decorated with elements die cut using the Botanical Builder Framelits dies in the following colors:  Melon Mambo, Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive, and Basic Black. Rhinestones were placed in the centers of all the flowers.

The post it note  mounted on a piece of Pacific Point card stock, was adhered  near the bottom of the card, becoming the "door stop" for the card.

Here's a view from the side.
If you look carefully, you can see a small pen peeking out behind the Easel.

Here I opened the card so that you can see where, and how, I placed the pen.  A piece of Satin ribbon, 3/8" wide was attached at first one end (near the score line) with strong double sided tape.  Then the pen was placed under the ribbon and measured for a fit.  The pen needed to be secure, but not loose, The other end was then adhered to the card.

This is what the card looks like when it's closed.  Because it is thicker than the usual cards, I made a pizza box and decorated it.  It would be expensive to mail this card, so I made and decorated this box so that it could be hand delivered.

The box was made using a 7 3/4 by 12 piece of Pacific Point cardstock, scored at 1, 5 1/2, 6 1/2 and 11" and then 1" all the way around.
Decorating the box was the fun part.
A Pacific Point DSP layer was matted with Whisper White cardstock.  Some Pacific Point ribbon (retired) was adhered near the bottom and a bow placed on top.

Above the ribbon, a Whisper White die cut was used as the base for the decorations.   I received this particular die cut in a die cut swap with Canadian Die Cut Exchange group.  Again, I used the floral elements die cuts made using the Botanical Builder framelits dies. I used the same colours as on the card.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  none
Inks: Melon Mambo, Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive
Papers: Pacific Point, Whisper White, Pacific Point DSP, Pumpkin Pie, Basic Black, Old Olive
Accessories: Botanical Builder framelits/dies, rhinestones, Bermuda Bay sequins, Wink of Stella clear glitter brush, 3/8" Pacific Point ribbonn

I am Much More.....

"I am much more when I'm with You"  So true!  This is a sentiment from one of the new stamp sets "Layering Love"
I wanted to keep this card simple, and soft, so I used suble colours on a white background.
This card was made for the card sketch challenge with Canadian Die Cut Exchange.

The basic card is Pool Party that had the background stamped with hearts and Pool Party ink.  If you look carefully you can see the stamping around the edges.

The die cut images were adhered to a shimmery white background.  The images were die cut using vellum cardstock and then coloured on the back with markers. The flowers were coloured with Pool Party markers; the centers with So Saffron; the vine with Wild Wasabi.

The flowers and centers were from the Botanical Builder framelit dies; the green vine line dies from "Swirly Bird"

Rhinestones were placed in the center of each flower and at the bottom of the sentiment, which was die cut using the layering circles framelits.  The edges of this circle was sponged with Pool Party ink to make it stand out a bit more.

Supplies Used:
Stamp: Layering Love
Ink: Black Memento, Markers (Pool Party, So Saffron, Tangelo Twist, Wild Wasabi), Pool Party
Papers: Pool Party, Vellum cardstock, Shimmery White cardstock, Whisper White cardstock
Accessories: Botanical Builders framelits and dies, Swirly Scribbles thinlets and dies, rhinestones

Sunburst Meets Botanical Blooms

This was one of my class projects for the night.  I decided to pair the Sunburst Thinlet with the Botanical Builder Blooms.  It was a lot of work at the Big Shot, but it was well worth it.

We started by Die cutting the Sunburst framelit using Hello Honey cardstock, after which the die cut was embossed with the Gently Falling Embossing Folder.
This embossed piece then was adhered to a 4 by 5 1/4" piece of Botanical Blooms DSP, and the ends extending over the edge trimmed off.

The following were Die Cut: 1 large 3D flower in Pool Party, 2 smaller 3D flowers (one in Daffodil Delight, and one in Cajun Craze), two tiny flowers (one in Hello Honey and one in Cajun Craze).  Then the centers of the flowers:  2 large (one in Basic Black and one in Hello Honey) and one small one in Basic Black, two large leaves and two small leaves in Old Olive (sponge edges with Mossy Meadow ink).

The following were punched:  One each of  1 3/8" circle in Basic Black; 1 1/2" circle in Hello Honey; and a 1 1/4 " circle in Old Olive.  The Basic Black and Hello Honey were adhered together using dimensionals: the other two adhered to the card base and the circle below it.

The sentiment, from "Sunburst Sayings" was stamped using Black Memento onto Whisper White and die cut using a Banners framelit.

Assemble the flowers as shown and adhere to the card front.  Put some rhinestones in the flower centers as one must have bling!!

This card was a class hit!

Supplies Used:
Stamp: Sunburst Sayings
Ink: Black Memento, Mossy Meadow
Papers: Cajun Craze, Botanical Blooms DSP, Hello Honey, Old Olive, Basic Black, whisper White, Pool Party
Accessories: Gently Falling embossing folder, Sunburst Thinlet, Botanical Builder thinlet and framelits, 1 3/8" circle punch, 1 1/2" circle punch, 1 1/4" circle punch, dimensionals, rhinestones

Awesome You - a Case

I cased this card from Craftyhallett on Pinterest.  I just loved her combination of the "Botanicals for You" stamp set and the Botanical Blooms and coordinating framelits and dies.

The base card if Marina Mist, layered with Whisper White.
Using the vine from the Botanical Builder die set, the left side of the Whisper White was die cut.  After this was done, the sentiment "Just for You" was stamped in Marina Mist, with the additional sentiment "...because you're awesome"

The smaller flowers were stamped with Marina Mist and Pink Pirouette, and tiny sprigs with Mossy Meadow.

Using the Botanical Builder dies/framelits, a yellow 2D flower was die cut as well as a black stamen center.  The stamen was adhered to the flower.

On a piece of  Old Olive cardstock, two large leaves were stamped in Old Olive Ink, and the veins in Mossy Meadow.  These two leaves, as well as the fringed leaf were die cut.

Before adhering the flower and the leaves, a 1" strip of vellum was adhered across the card.
The leaves and flower were attached to the card front as shown.

Rhinestones were added to the center of the larger flower, and the smaller stamped flowers as well.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Botanical for You, Botanical Blooms
Inks: Marina Mist, Pink Pirouette, Mossy Meadown, Old Olive
Papers: Marina Mist, Whisper White, Vellum, Daffodil Delight, Basic Black, Old Olive
Accessories: Botanical Builder Dies/framelits, rhinestones, dimensional.
