Thoughts of You - Hand - Stamped Sentiments # 277

For the sketch challenge with Hand Stamped Sentiments  a few more sneak peaks of the new catalogue products will be revealed.  I use both the SAB and the Occasions catalogue products.

• The base is Pool Party cardstock, layered with striped gold fancy foil designer vellum
• The stamp set used is "What I Love" a SAB stamp.  The flower is made using 3 step stamping - using 3 colours of pink.
• 
  

Colour 1:  Soft sky
Colour2:  Pool Party
Colour 3:  Pacific Point

Each flower was cut out and added to a 2 1/4 by 2 1/4" Piece of Whisper White cardstock - the second flower slightly overlapping the first flower and attached using dimensionals.  The leaves were stamped using Old Olive ink, and I used a blender pen to fill the leaves in a bit. "It's My Party" enamel dots were added to each corner.
I love glitter, so it was added to each of the petals using the Stella wink glitter brush (clear)

The image panel was matted with Pool Party cardstock and attached to the card front using dimensionals.

A piece of 3/8" piece of Pool Party glitter ribbon was adhered to a 3/4" piece of Pool Party cardstock  which was matted with Whisper White cardstock.  Then some pool party Baker's twine was criss crossed across this strip and a bow glued to the center.  This strip was adhered to the lower part of the card front.

Pinwheel Card - SUO challenge #126

The challenge this week with the SUO challenges is to feature designer paper in my card/project.  To do this I made a Pinwheel card.  I used a tutorial on Stars and Stamps here

Card:

• Basic card is Watermelon Wonder cardstock, layered with Whisper White, and then Cherry on Top DSP.
• A piece of 1" Watermelon Wonder dotted lace trim was attached down the middle, and a piece of DSP was attached horizontally across the bottom.
• The sentiment was stamped using Bermuda Bay ink and the 1" piece punched at both ends using the Triple punch.

Pinwheel:

•  Two pieces of DSP were cut at 2 5/8" square and eight pieces at 1 1/4" (4 each of 2 contrasting papers)
• The two large squares were adhered together at right angles to form the base of the pinwheel.
• The smaller squares were alternated and adhered to the corners of the base.  With the last one piece, lift up the first piece and slip  the last piece under the first square.

Flower: 

• A flower was adhered to the center.
• The following punches/framelit were used to make the flower:  1 1/4" scallop circle punch, Petite Petal punch, and a small star framelit. Two 1 1/4" scallop circle pieces were punched - one in Watermelon Wonder, and one in Bermuda Bay.  The Petite Petal was punch with Watermelon wonder.  The star was made using the small star framelit.  This became the leaf.
• Snip between evcry second scallop the scallop ciecles, and with the handle of a paint brush curl the snipped pieces.  Make a small snip between the petals of the Petite Petal punch, and curl up the petals the same way.

• Adhere all pieces together alternating petals.  Adhere the star under the flower, and a metal rimmed pearl in the middle.  Then attach the flower to the middle of the pinwheel using  hot glue

A Wetlands Masculine Card - The Paper Players #248

Yes, Father's Day is approaching quickly, so it's time to make some special cards for that special man in your life. But even if you don't have a special man, it's always good to have masculine cards on hand. This week with The Paper Players  the theme is to make a masculine card.  I immediately thought of the stamp set "Wetlands".  I can remember breathing a sigh of relief that this stamp set was not retired when the new catalogue came out.

• The base card is Soft Suede cardstock, layered with Whisper White.  On top of that are 2 layers of cardstock.  The top half is Whisper white which was coloured using theSoft Sky ink pad directly on the block and stamping it on the cardstock.  The bottom of this top piece was die cut with the Large Scallop edgelit die.  Using the Four Feather's stamp set, feathers were randomly stamped over it using Soft Sky ink.

If you look closely you can see the feathers that were stamped in the background.

• The bottom piece is Soft Suede cardstock, the top of which was die cut with the same large Scallop edgelit, but the edgelit was placed so that it was upsidedown.  The image of the sea grass was stamped all over this surface using Soft Suede ink.

• All edges were sponged with Soft Suede ink prior to them being adhered to the cardstock base.
• The smaller image panel was coloured in the same manner.  The top part with Soft Sky ink directly on the stamping block and the bottom with Crumb Cake ink.
• The clouds in the sky were made by adhering 3 pieces of 1 3/4" scallop punchies together and sponging the edges with Soft Sky ink in a random pattern.
• The sand pipers were stamped with Soft Suede ink at the water line.
• The image of the goose was stamped on a separate piece of Whisper white paper and coloured with markers.  It was then cut out and adhered to the panel with dimensionals in such a way that the goose was in front of the sandpipers. The grass was stamped separately using Old Olive ink, cut out and sponged with Soft Suede ink.  It was adhered to the bottom of the image panel beneath the goose.
• The sentiment is from "A Dozen Thoughts", made into a banner, sponged and adhered to the card by the goose.

• A natural buttom, with a Black Baker's Twine bow on top was adhered to the upper right of the image panel.
• The image panel was adhered to the card front using dimensionals.

Wish Big - Hand Stamped Sentiments #213

I haven't done a colour challenge in a while.  Acutally, I haven't made a card in a while because I've been so busy getting ready to go to Vancouver next week.  My plant sale was on the weekend, and I'm still getting e-mails from people who want to purchase the ones I have left.  It's been a very profitable sale.
Now, back to putting some content on my blog.  If you're wondering about the blog header, my son is designing a new one, but in the middle of doing so his friend got hurt at work so he dropped everything to be with his friend.

This card is for the colour challenge with Hand Stamped Sentiments.  These are the colours:  Bermuda Bay, Calypso Coral, Crushed Curry and Mossy Meadow.

 

• The base card is Bermuda Bay, layered with Crushed Curry, and then the image layer which is Whisper White cardstock
• The image of the flower was stamped with black Stazon ink, masked, and stamped again, a little highter and off to the other side.
• Using markers and an aquapainter, the images were coloured- the flowers with Crushed curry, with Mossy Meadow combined with Crushed Curry for the stamens.  I used the marker itself to provide highlights and insert shadows in some of the spaces.  The stems were coloured with Mossy meadow and an aqua painter.  Again I used the marker to colour in some shadows.
• Using a stamp from "Butterly basics" the honeycomb background was stamped with Bermuda Bay ink
• The sentiment is from "A Dozen Thoughts" and was stamped with Calypso Coral ink.
• To finish the card, tiny Calypso coral butterflies were die cut using the now retired Beautiful wings embosslit and rhinestones were placed in their centers.  A SAB calypso coral ribbon was added to the bottom of one of the flowers.
• A card has to have bling, so I applied dazzling details to the outline of the flowers.

Another Horse Card - You Made my Day

After making the Trifold shutter  card I had one horse picture left over that did not quite fit on that particular fold of card.
So, here's the card I made with that last remaining horse.

The image of the horse was stamped with Memento ink on Whisper White cardstock, and coloured with a combination of copic markers and ink pads and an Aqua painter.    The image panel was matted with Soft suede cardstock.

The base card is Soft Suede cardstock, layered with Whisper White and Neutral DSP.  At the bottom of the DSP a piece of natural Chevron ribbon was adhered. A knot was made with the ribbon and attached with a glue dot.

The image panel was adhered to the front left of the card using dimensionals.

The sentiment is from "A dozen thoughts"

All edges were sponged with Soft Suede ink.

You've Got This - Hand Stamped Sentiments #211

For the first time in a long time I spent the day in the garden.  I'm having a plant sale next weekend and I needed to do some grooming.  Plus the plants that will be sold had to be labelled and categorized.
It was a really cool day weather wise.  I had on a thick sweat shirt and fleece pants and I was still cold - but it was great for working outdoors.

When I was done my work, I made my way down to the craft room and created this card for the challenge with Hand Stamped Sentiments.  I used a number of retiring products, yet I give you a sneak peak at one of the new stamps in the next catalogue.

The base card is Rose Red cardstock, layered with Whisper White stamped with the background stamp from the new stamp set "You've Got This" .  I wanted the colour not to be overpowering, because I wanted the flower to be the focal point, so I stamped it with Soft Sky ink.

The 2 pieces of DSP below the image are different sides of the same DSP "Sweet Taffy"

The flower was stamped with Stazon ink, and coloured using markers and an Aqua painter - markers from the Bright's collection.  It was cut out and adhered to a 2 1/2" Whisper White circle whose edges had been pierces with the circle template in the Essentials paper piercing pack.  Dimensionals were used to adhere the flower to the circle.  Instead of cutting off the stem and leaves, I allowed them to extend over the circle's edge and placed a 1/4" Rose Red bow on the stem just below the circle.

Dazzling details was applied to the edges of the flower, with Gold Glitz dazzling details applied to the tips of the stamens.

Horses - Trifold shutter card

Remember the horse stamp from years ago that was absolutely beautiful?  And everyone is looking for it now?  I found a stamp set (non SU) that reminded me of that stamp set and I just had to buy it.  I also had a horst stamp set that again was retired and I've have been holding on to.

At the craft show on the weekend I stamped multiple images of all the horses as well as other more current images, and sat and coloured.  A lot of children came over to see what I was doing, and pulled their parents along with them.  With parental permission, I gave each of the children a small coloured picture.

With the pictures of the horses I had left over, I made into a trifold shutter card.  I found a video on You Tube that helped me refresh my memory on how to make this card fold.

 

After making the Soft Suede trifold shutter base, all the edges were sponged with Soft Suede beige.  Soft Suede DSP, with edges sponged, were adhered in the various spaces.

The pictures of the horses were trimmed to size, and placed where you see them.  They had been stamped with stazon ink and coloured with a combination of markers and copic markers. On the two end pieces the image pieces were adhered to a piece of Soft Suede cardstock, the ends of which had been punched with the new double sided tag punch.

Sunburst Technique - You're in my thoughts

This card using DSP and ribbon that is about to retire - Park Lane DSP and Blackberry Bliss ribbon.

This technique I haven't used very often, but I like the way it turned out.

I used 2 sides of the same DSP and alternated the strips from a focal point where the flower is.  They are adhered to a piece of Whisper White cardstock which forms the layer for the Blackberry cardstock.

2 different size strips of Blackberry bliss ribbon were adhered to the left upper side.  A bow was added to the bottom of the longest piece.  Some itty bitty white blowers whose edges were sponged with Blackberry Bliss ink were randomly placed on both ribbons using glue dots.

The sentiment is from "A Dozen Thoughts", stamped using Basic Black ink, and made into a banner with notches at both ends.

The flower is made the same was as described in the post on the Eggshell mosaic technique.

Double Thanks - Technostamper #360

It's very mild today and the sun was shining fiercely out of a clear blue sky.  However, it's afternoon now, and the sky has become overcast, and there is talk of rain.

I am more hopeful that we will soon have more spring-like weather.  My son even set up the gazebo and brought out the outdoor furniture, and is now washing my car.

For the challenge with Technostamper which is now a biweekly challenge, I wanted to make a masculine Thank you card.  I just checked through my "stash" and not one of them is suitable to give to a guy.

I used one of the designs of the Adventure Bound DSP stack, and used the Hello You framelits to create the large sentiment that the challenge called for.

 

The basic card is Garden Green cardstock. layered with Crumb Cake, and then Adventure Bound DSP .
The "Thanks" is from the "Hello You Thinlits Dies", and I die cut it first using Early Espresso cardstock, and a second time using Garden Green.  I adhered the two together just offsetting the words, to make it look like there is a shadow.

 Because there are 2 thanks, I titled the card "Double Thanks".

The smaller sentiment is from "A Dozen Thoughts" stamped with Basic Black on Crumb Cake, and die cut using the Project Life Cards & Labels Framelits.The edges were sponged with Early Espresso and adhered to the card near the bottom with dimensionals.

Springtime Hello - Unscripted Sketches #242

What a miserable day today!  As if we didn't have enough snow already, today has been snowing heavily.  Not a day to be out and about that's for sure!  I had to cancel the class tonight as its too dangerous for the students to drive.

Because its such a wintery day, I thought I would make a spring-like card for the challenge with Unscripted Sketches here  I took the liberty of turning the sketch on its side.

 

The base card of Gumball Green is a square 5 by 5" layered with Whisper White cardstock and then Watercolor Modern DSP.

For the focal image I stamped the flower twice using Black Stazon, and colored the flowers with markers.  The little bee is stamped, colored, and then cut out and attached to one of the flowers with a dimensional.

The focal panel  edges are sponged with Island Indigo ink and then matted with Island Indigo card stock.  The two layers behind this image are Daffodil Delight and Gumball Green.  This entire unit is attached to a white paper doillie with is attached to the DSP.

In the left lower corner I punched a modern word label punch and attached half of it to the DSP.  A pearl adorns this punchie.

Better Get Better - Pals Paper Arts #189

It's a beautiful sunny day today and I have a whole list of things to do today, so I'm doing my blog post early.  This card is for the challenge with Pal Paper Arts here

Layer 1:  Whisper White embossed with the Decorative Dots embossing folder

Layer 2 and 3:  Modern  Watercolor Designer Paper matted in Basic Black Cardstock

Layer 4:  I used the masking technique to create two poppies on a whisper White panel.  The flowers were coloured with SU markers.  The sentiment was stamped with Basic Black ink.  This panel was also matted with Basic Black card stock.

The basic card is Calypso Coral.

Just Because - Hexagon Hive Thinlet die & Petite Petals - a Case

We had a mild day today, but the weather tomorrow is supposed to make up for any enjoyment we experienced today.  More snow is forecast.  On top of all the snow we have received to date we've run out of room to put it when we shovel.  It's getting hazardous to emerge from your driveway!

Today's card is a CASE of a card I saw on Pinterest.  It's so spring-like  looking I couldn't resist making it.

The base card is Island Indigo layered with Watercolor Wonder DSP followed by a Whisper White layer die cut using the Hexagon Hive Thinlet die.  Hint: Use waxed paper underneath the thinlet die to make removing the hexagons easier.  To attach the hexagon die cut paper, I used tombo glue thinly applied to the edges.

On a scrap piece of paper, I stamped 5 Petite flowers - 2 in Island Indigo, I Daffodil Delight, 1 Pear Pizzazz, and 1 Calypso Coral.  They were punched out using the coordinating Petite Petals punch, and the petals curled up.  After attaching to the card using glue dots, a pearl was placed in the center of each flower.
The sentiment is from "A Dozen Thoughts".  The edges of the sentiment banner were sponged with Island Indigo ink to make it stand out from the white background.

Happy Together

I'm a real coffee drinker so when I saw the Perfect Blend stamp set I just had to have it.  I plan on making one of these for St. Patrick's day class, so you might say this was my trial run.

The base card is Crumb Cake, layered with Afternoon Picnic DSP the edges of which were sponged with Crumb Cake ink.  I then attached a 1 1/4" burlap ribbon just below the half way point of the card.
On a scrap piece of Whisper White paper, I stamped 2 coffee cups using Black Stazon ink, and coloured then both using a Crumb Cake marker and a blender pen.  I also stamped 2 images on some DSP from the Fresh Prints Designer paper stack and cut out the cup cozy and attached them to the coloured coffee cups.  The entire coffee cup was then sponged with Crumb Cake ink.
On one cup I attached two Pool Party flowers punched with the mini flower punch.  Rhinestones were placed in the middle.  The leaves were hand cut using green Gumball card stock.  On the other coffee cup I attached a Pool Party designer button with a bow of White Baker's twine on top of it.
The cups were attached to the card as indicated in the picture above.
