Welcome Easter meets Grace's Garden

These cards were made for my grandchildren.

Using the masking technique, the images from "Welcome Easter" were inserted into "Grace's Garden".

Each card is slightly different from the other - they are the same, yet different.  Each card features one of the characters from "Welcome Easter" and some of the images from Grace's garden.  All feature the fence, but the flowers differ as does the placement of the sentiment.

All are coloured using Stampin' Blends.

All are top folding A2 cards with a Thick Whisper White base.  Two of the focal piece were matted with Highland Heather card stock; the third with Daffodil Delight.

Below are the three cards.

Card #1   The Easter Bunny

This little bunny is so "hoppy", looking as if he just hopped through the gate.

Card #2   The Little Lamb

Notice the cotton fluff placed on his head giving him more of a woolly appearance.

Card #3  The Easter chick

Did he hide the Easter eggs in the garden behind him?  Only the robin knows for sure.

My birthplace is in the Netherlands, a land well known for its windmills.  I

was a young girl of 6 when I came to Canada with my parents and 2 siblings, and have only been back to the country of my birth once. But I remember the windmills.

The stamp set "Winds of Change" in the annual catalogue, immediately caught my attention, but I waited until after my craft show before getting it. Here's the  first card I made.

The tutorial is free.

Over the moon - a Get Well Card

I used a technique that is familiar to a lot of us - masking - to get the 3 cows from the "Over the Moon" stamp set to 'pose for this picture'

The reason for the pose is to make a Get Well card.

After masking the cow in the middle, I was able to stamp the two others a bit behind him.

To colour them I used a combination of water colour pencils and blender pen with the Stampin' Blends.

After the image was die cut with a Stitched Rectangle Die, the entire piece was embossed with clear embossing powder.  It was then matted with a die cut piece of  Woodgrain DSP and added at an angle over a similar sized piece of Basic Black Card stock. This is turn was angled and added to a Crumb Cake card base.

The sentiment, from "Well Said" was matted with Basic Black and added to the upper right card front.

Supplies Used:
Stamp:  Over the Moon
Inks:  Black Memento, watercolour pencils, Stampin' Blends, Versa Mark
Papers:  Crumb  Cake, Whisper White, Basic Black, Wood grain DSP
Accessories:  Stitched Rectangle Dies, Clear Embossing Powder

Easter Flowers

...in a vase made with a punch.

The Lily flowers are part of the Easter Messages stamp set, as are the palm fronds.  Put them together and place them in a vase and you have a wonderful Easter Bouquet.

The flowers were masked before stamping the 2 palm fronds.  I coloured them using SU markers.
A vase was made by punching one image in Daffodil Delight using the Best Badge punch and altering the punchie to make it look like a vase. See the picture below.  The dotted lines on the punchie on the punch indicate where I trimmed it with the scissors so that it looks like the punchie lying beside it.

To decorate the vase, I used two of the stamps of the Delicate Details stamp set, and cut out a coloured lily and adhered it to the vase center. Dimensionals adhered the vase to the card front.

I love sponging edges of almost everything.  Sponging gives the images such definition and a finished look. I sponged the edges of the vase, the flowers, and the edges of all the papers making up the card.

Three more coloured lilies were cut out and 2 were adhered over the original lilies; the 3rd just peeking its head over the top of the vase.

After adhering the art piece to a piece of Daffodil Delight card stock, a piece of 1/8" stitched Smoky Slate ribbon was slid under the vase between the dimensionals and adhered behind the Daffodil Delight card stock. A bow made of the same ribbon was placed on the right side.

The Whisper White card base was layered with a Smoky Slate layer, upon which a strip of Scenic Scenery DSP was added. Dimensionals adhered the art piece to the card front.

What's a card without bling? Dazzling details was applied to the flowers and the vase as well as Wink of Stella.  In addition I added metal rimmed rhinestones and smaller rhinestones.

Supplies Used:
Stamps: Easter Message, Timeless Texture, Delicate Details
Inks: Black Memento, Basic Gray, SU markers (Daffodil Delight, Tangelo Twist, Old Olive, Always Artichoke)
Papers: Whisper White, Basic Gray, Daffodil Delight, Scenic Scenery DSP
Accessories: Best Badge punch, 1/8" stitched Smoky Slate ribbon, Metal rimmed rhinestones, rhinestones, dimensionals, glue dots

You Light Up My Life - Try Stampin on Tuesday #330

More snow last night, and it's been bitter cold!  The window on the back screen door has been frozen over for the last 2 days.

This card, made with a new Occasions stamp set combined with an Oldie but Goodie.

I made some liberties with the sketch from Try Stampin on Tuesday changing some of the features around.  Hope the design team doesn't mind.

Art Piece:
On a 3 3/4 by 5" piece of Whisper White card stock, the image of the light house was stamped and coloured. Then the area of the light from the light house was masked out and the area in between the 2 masks was sponged with Crushed Curry.  A sentiment from "Pun Intended" was stamped repeated and randomly over this sponged area. The stamp-a-ma-jig was used for more accurate placement.

Stamps from the new Occasions set "High Tide" was used to create the water and the scene around  the lighthouse as well as the sea gulls.

The sentiment was stamped in the lower left corner.

All edges were sponged with Basic Gray ink.

Card:
The art piece was layered with Cherry Cobbler and adhered to a Basic Gray base.

Supplies Used:
Stamps: High Tide, From Land to Sea, Pun Intended
Inks: Black Memento, Basic Gray, Smoky Slate, Marina Mist, Sahara Sand, Crushed Curry, Real Red, Old Olive
Papers: Basic Gray, Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White
Accessories: Blender pen, Stamp-a-ma-jig, post-it note

Wildflower Meadow - a Friend -Card 4

After a severe thunderstorm last night the temperature is a bit more moderate today.  Most of the humidity is gone.  I don't mind heat, but the humidity gets to me.

Card 4 in the Wildflower series is a little different.  I use the masking technique to create the background.

Taking a piece of photo copy paper, I cut it in the shape you want, separate the two cuts and adhere them using dot adhesive to a piece of Whisper White card stock. This is the mask.
Using finger daubers, apply 3 colours of ink to the open space- Pear Pizzazz at the bottom, strawberrry slush in the middle and coastal cabana at the top.
Then stamp this area with Versa Mark ink and emboss with black embossing powder.  I had to touch up a few of the embossed areas using the Versa Mark pen.  Then remove the mask and mat it to a piece of Black Cardstock, which in turn is attached to a base card of Coastal Cabana card stock.
The sentiment is from "Feeling good" - the embellishment from the new Holiday catalogue.

Stamps: Wildflower meadow, Feeling Good
Inks: Pear Pizzazz, Strawberry Slush, Coastal Cabana, Versa Mark, Basic black
Papers: Coastal Cabana, Whisper White, Photocopy paper, Basic Black
Accessories: Black embossing powder, Versa Mark pen, Frosted Finish embellishment.
