Birthday Horizontal Front Panel Fun Fold Card (and a video)- Hand Stamped Sentiments #360

The challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments has some wonderful spring/Easter colours.  Below is the card I made. Scroll down to the bottom to check out a video on how to make the basic card fold.

The colours of the challenge are below:

To make the card, I first made my own designer paper using the colours above and the Pretty Perennial stamp set on a piece of Basic White card stock.

The basic card is a Horizontal Front Panel Fun Fold. There are many tutorials on You Tube and Pinterest for this fun fold, but the one I found most helpful was done by Jan B here . The measurements and score lines for the fun fold are as follows:

  • Pear Pizzazz card stock 5 1/2 by 8 1/2" scored at 4 1/4, 5 1/4, 7 & 8 on the 8 1/2" side
  • Pear Pizzazz card stock 3 3/4 by 4 1/4" scored at 2 3/4 & 3 3/4 on the 4 1/4" side.
  • Basic White  5 1/4 by 4"      DSP  5 by 3 3/4"   For back of  main fold.
  • Basic White 5 1/4 by 1 3/4"  DSP 5 by 1 1/2" For front lower panel
  • Basic White 3 1/2 by 2 1/2"   DSP 3 1/4 by 2 1/4" For the front panel
  • Basic White die cut with the largest of the Stitched So Sweetly die - art piece
  • The following stamped die cuts:  1 large flower stamped with Highland Heather; 3 medium flowers stamped with So Saffron ink; 1 large and 3 medium floral overlays; l large Pear Pizzazz stem and leaf.  The overlays are adhered to their floral counter parts before being added to the art piece as shown in the picture. Highland Heather pearls are added to the center of each flower.

  • The completed art piece is adhered to the front panel of the Fun Fold.
  • Some Basic White ribbon (1/8") was coloured with a Highland Heather stamp'n blend, tied into a double bow and added to the lower corner of the art piece.
  • Two little butterflies and a Ladybug are also added.
  • Sentiment stamped with Highland Heather and trimmed all around; second part of sentiment stamped with Black Memento
After the card is put together this is what it looks like from the side:

Apothecary Art Happiest Birthday - Fab Friday #14

Wow!  Two colour challenges in a row!  I don't know what inspired me, but what the heck I seem to be on a roll.  This colour challenge is for Fab Friday here
The colours are as follows:  Pink Pirouette, Calypso Coral, Sahara Sand and Lucky Limeade.  I would never in my lifetime put those 4 colours together on my own, but I'm pleased with the resulting card.
Here it is:

The image was stamped with Black Stazon ink onto Whisper White cardstock. The flowers were painted with Calypso coral and Pink Pirouette uisng ink pads and an Aqua painter.  You can see the colouring better in the enlarged picture at the bottom.  The leaves were painted Lucky Limeade.
The sentiment was inked using a Sahara Sand marker and stamped in the middle using a stamp-a-ma-jig for placement.  I must admit I'm getting better at using that tool!  Then I put some dazzling diamonds in the middle of each flower.  Once dry, I die cut the image using the Labels framelit, matting it with another labels framelit die cut in the same size but in Calypso coral.  This die cut was cut in half and placed behind the first one.

The base card is Calypso Coral, layered with a piece of Sahara Sand cardstock embossed with the Honeycomb folder.
The designer paper is retired Fruit and Flowers DSP and it is matted with Lucky Limeade.
A strip of Pink Pirouette card stock was embossed with the square lattice folder and strips of scalloped lucky limeade adhered to the top and bottom.  It was placed near the bottom of the card.  The image panel was adhered to the card using dimensionals.
Some rhinestones at the upper right completes the card.

Heres a list of the stamps/supplies used:

Stamp: Apothecary Art
Inks: Calypso Coral, Pink Pirouette, Lucky Limeade, Sahara Sand Marker
Papers: Calypso Coral, Sahara Sand, Lucky Limeade, Pink Pirouette, Fruit & Flowers DSP (retired)
Accessories: Labels framelits, Scallop border punch, Honeycomb folder, Square Lattice folder, Dazzling details, dimensionals, rhinestones

Hope you enjoyed the card.  Thanks for stopping by.

Decorated Kraft Box with Gerbera Daisy - Create with Connie & Mary #163

This week the challenge at Create with Connie & Mary is a colour one:  Tangerine Tango, So Saffron and Pacific Point.  More on their blog here

I had to do a lot of thinking about this colour combination.  For some reason my creative mind was not sending out any ideas.
Suddenly, this morning it hit me!  Decorate a Kraft box and put a 3D Gerbera Daisy on top!

I made the Gerbera Daisy first, with the colours of the challenge - using a tutorial created by Shelly Bohan here and the Daisy Die #2.
After assembling the Kraft box, I covered the top and sides with Beyond the Garden designer paper (focusing on the sheet that was predominately Pacific Point and white).
A scallop circle in Whisper White was cut using the Scallop Circle die.  The scallops were inked with Tangerine Tango ink.
The completed Gerbera Daisy was mounted on the top of the box using dimensionals.
The gift tag is from Beautiful Season.  It is attached to the box with white baker's twine.
The Pumpkin Pie 1 1/4" striped grosgrain ribbon (retired) was cut in half and frayed - then it was wrapped around the box. A bow was made with the other half and mounted on the front of the box.
