Baby Elephant Tulle Window card

Yesterday I made a tulle window card featuring the bear from "A Little Wild" stamp set.

Today I made 2 other tulle window cards featuring the other 2 "wild things" from that stamp set - the elephant, and the lion.

This post will focus on the elephant alone.  It makes the cutest baby boy card.

The elephant was stamped on Whisper White  colored with blendabilites then die cut and set aside.  Because the front and back halves are attached together, after die cutting I cut the two pieces apart and set them aside.

On a top folding Whisper White card base, I temporarily adhered a 4 by 5 1/4" piece of Coffee Break DSP to it and then die cut a stitched square aperture in the upper part of the card through both layers.

Separating the layers, some tear and tape adhesive was added around the edges of the square aperture on the card front and on the wrong side of the DSP.  I also added some tear and tape adhesive around the rest of the card front about 1/4" from edge and on the back of the DSP close to the edge.

After adhering the white tulle around the square aperture, the two card layers were added together.  The card front now has a tulle window in it.

The front of the elephant was added to the front tulle window using tear and tape adhesive.  Then opening the card, the back side of the elephant was adhered matching up the image outlines.

Some 3/8" shimmer pool party ribbon was wrapped around the card below the window and the stamped sentiment adhered over the ribbon using dimensionals.

Three balloons were punched using the balloon builder punch and sentiments from the "Baby Bear" stamp set added to two of them.  Some metallic pool party baker's twine was strung from the balloons to the nose of the elephant.

To finish, some Clear Wink of Stella was added to the balloons and part of the elephant.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  A Little Wild, Baby Bear.
Inks:  Black Memento, Blendabilities
Papers:  Whisper White, Coffee Break DSP
Accessories:  3/8" shimmer pool party ribbon, square stitched framelits, white tulle (non SU), Balloon Builder punch, metallic pool party baker's twine, Little Love Framelits.

This Little Piggy - a catalogue sneakapeak

The new catalogue launches in less than a week!!  Are you getting excited yet??

The little piggy characters are so much fun - and besides they are adorable!!

Today I made 2 note cards featuring this cute little sty resident.

The first one was a thank you note

I stamped the image on Whisper White card stock and coloured him using water color pencils and an aqua painter.  To apply the color I applied the aqua brush directly to the watercolor pencil and then to the image. When completed, the focal image was die cut using the layering circle framelits.

I separated the sentiment from the image and stamped it separately, placing the first part under the pig and the remainder on the card front,

All edges are sponged with Soft Suede ink

The Whisper White note card is layered with Tip Top Taupe envelope paper.

I had some crate paper left over from On Stage, which I cut  into strips and forming them into a fence

Supplies Used
Stamp:  This Little Piggy
Inks: Black Memento, Watercolor Pencils, Soft Suede
Papers: Whisper White note card, Crate Paper, Tip Top Taupe Envelope Paper
Accessories: Stitched shape framelits, dimensionals, blender pen

Detailed Dragonfly Thinlets on a Pop & Twist card - Stampin' Royalty #363

I love making cards with unusual folds, so making this Twist & Pop card for the Stampin' Royalty challenge this week, was right up my alley. The challenge this week was to create a project using dies. This card fold was chosen to display the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlets as well as the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set.
I have made this card before-see the blog post here.  In this earlier blog post, I provide a link to a video, which I found was very helpful.

A Pop & Twist card has a mechanism inside the card that "twists" open as it "pops" out.  When the card is closed it looks like a regular card.  I usually keep them closed with a belly band that is held together with Velcro rather than adhesive.  That way it can be opened and closed easily.
A picture of the belly band is below this picture.

This card front shows a Whisper White oval upon which a dragon fly is adhered on a stamped background. A die cut vellum dragonfly overlay is adhered to the  dragonfly giving it life and dimension. Dazzling details added to the wings give it sparkle.

The DSP is Serene Scenic DSP matted with a Whisper White cardstock. The card base is Delightful Dijon

This belly band keeps the card closed and is decorated with an embellishment and a sentiment.
The embellishment is made using various sizes of circle punches on the top of which is a gold foil small die cut dragonfly,

Opening the card reveals the pop and twist mechanism as well as more die cuts.

The top and bottom panels are covered with more of the Serene Scenery DSP.  Stitched die cut ovals are embellished with another dragonfly die cut as well as a die cut bumble bee.
Close ups of both are next.

A close up of the upper panel shows the details of the dragonfly with its vellum overlay.

A close up of the lower part of the inside features another die cut Whisper White oval- for written messages &/or signature.  Two gold foil die cut embellishments adorn this oval.

Each of the 4 panels are layered with Serene Scenery DSP and Whisper White card stock, the edges of which are sponged with Delightful Dijon ink. Along the bottom of each panel is  stamped (second and third generation stamping) with Old Olive and Delightful Dijon inks.
The main feature of this outer panel is a cut out bumble bee which was coloured with markers. Like the larger dragonfly some vellum was die cut and adhered to the wings only.
Because the sentiment was too large for the space, it was cut into separate words/phrases and then added it to the two middle panels.

The right two panels are almost a mirror image of the left panels.
The sentiment is completed on the inside one. On the outside panel, two bumblebees, one of which is die cut in gold foil, are buzzing around. The second one is a twin brother of the one on the left panel.

Dazzling Diamonds was added to all the vellum overlays

Supplies Used:
Stamps: Dragonfly Dreams, Suite Sayings, Remembering Your Birthday (retired)
Inks: Black Memento, Island Indigo, Delightful Dijon, Old Olive, Markers (Daffodil Delight, Basic Black, Soft Sky).
Papers: Delightful Dijon, Serene Scenery DSP, Whisper White, Gold Foil, Vellum card stock

A Thankful Swan - Fab Friday #105

Swan Lake arrived on my door step yesterday, and I wanted to play with it immediately! The sketch challenge with Fab Friday provided me with the opportunity to do so. Seeing the swan in the water, with the little ones by her side immediately brought back memories of seeing the real birds on Lake Ontario when I was staying with friends. It was a cool day, and the wind was strong, but the swan and her goslings' swam bravely on.  Memories --funny things aren't they?

Card:
Marina Mist card stock, layered with Whisper White and then Scenic Scenery DSP formed the basis of this A2 card.
The Serene Scenery layer was embossed with the Sea side embossing folder making it look like waves on a lake.

Art Piece:
The images were stamped with Black Memento onto a Whisper White circle die cut using the largest of the Circle Stitched die. Part of the right side of the die was trimmed as per the sketch above. Masking was used to place the images where I wanted them and then they were coloured with ink pads and a blender pen.  The water lily was stamped on a separate scrap piece of Whisper White, coloured, cut out and adhered to the bottom of the circle.
The sky was sponged while the clouds were stamped using the cloud stamp from the "Lift Me Up" stamp set. Each cloud was accented with Smoky Slate ink.

The art piece was adhered to the card front using dimensionals.

Sentiment and Embellishment:
The "thank you" was stamped with Marina Mist ink on a piece of Pool Party card stock, punched with the Classic Label punch, and adhered to a strip of Whisper White.
Before attaching this sentiment label to the card front, a small piece of gold metallic ribbon (SAB) was fan folded and adhered to the wrong side near the right end.
Dimensionals were used to adhere this to the card front and the art piece.
A bow made of 1/8" Stitched Smoky Slate ribbon was added with a glue dot.

What's a card without glitter?  So some Clear Wink of Stella was added in some places.

Supplies Used:
Stamps: Swan Lake, Lift Me Up
Inks: Black Memento, Smoky Slate, Tangelo Twist, Daffodil Delight, Crushed Curry, Flirty Flamingo, Marina Mist, Pacific Point
Papers: Marina Mist, Whisper White, Serene Scenery DSP, Stitched Shape Dies, Classic Label punch, 3/8" silver metallic ribbon, 1/8" stitched smoky slate ribbon, Clear Wink of Stella, dimensionals, glue dots, blender pen, Sea side embossing folder.

Hello Baby

What everyone has been waiting for has happened!  The Occasions Catalogue has gone live and SAB has launched.  However, so many people placed their order that the web site went down.  Imagine that!

Today I'm sharing with you two cards made using the Moon Baby stamp set.  I will share the third card tomorrow. Those images are just adorable!

Art Pieces:
Both babies holding an umbrella were stamped with Black Memento ink onto Whisper White card stock and coloured with ink pads and a blender pen.  The little girl was coloured with Pink Pirouette and shaded with Flirtatious Flamingo; the hair with Crumb Cake. Marina Mist and Pool Party were used for the little boy, who's hair was coloured with Daffodil Delight. For both babies the skin was coloured with very light Pink Pirouette.
Some action marks were made around the body, legs and umbrella.
Some rain drops were stamped around the babies using the Timeless Texture stamp and Soft Sky ink.
The Stitched Oval die was used to die cut the girl image; the stitched round one the boy.
For the boy child, the sentiment was stamped underneath the umbrella.
Dazzling details was added to the umbrella and parts of each baby.

The Card: (Girl)
The Pink Pirouette card base was matted with Whisper White and then Pink Pirouette DSP.  The final layer of Whisper White was stamped with both large and small clouds using Basic Gray ink.  A couple of the clouds extended into the die cut image.
A piece of 3/8" silver metallic ribbon (SAB) was wrapped around the bottom and the sentiment unit adhered on top of that.

The art piece was adhered to the card front above the sentiment using dimensionals- making sure the cloud shapes matched.

The Card: (Boy)
The basic card is Pool Party layered with Whisper White embossed with the Gently Falling embossing folder.
A 2" strip of pool party DSP was punched with the Triple Banner punch and a piece of 3/8" silver metallic ribbon adhered to the lower part above the notch. It was then adhered to the card front near the top centered over the banner.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Moon Baby, Timeless Texture, Lift Me Up.
Inks: Black Memento, Pink Pirouette, Flirtatious Flamingo, Marina Mist, Pacific Point, Crumb Cake, Daffodil Delight, Basic Gray
Papers: Pink Pirouette, Pink Pirouette DSP, Whisper White, Pool Party, Pool Party DSP
Accessories: Stitched shape framelits, Triple Banner Punch, 1" circle punch, small oval punch,
3/8" silver metallic ribbon, dimensionals, blender pen, Gently Falling embossing folder, dazzling details.
