Owl I want for Christmas - Paper Craft Crew Challenge #396

I'm still relatively laid up with an injury earlier last week.  So this Thanksgiving weekend I will be catching up on some card making and blogging.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone but celebrate in small numbers and/or outdoors please.  That coronovirus is as anxious to get you as you are to eat the turkey!

I am hearing from friends and family that the Thanksgiving cards I mailed have reached their destination, so on to Christmas cards!!!

"Have a Hoot" what a neat name for a stamp set.  Those little owls are so darn cute!

For the sketch challenge with the Paper Craft Crew Vertical Challenge, I couldn't resist placing two cute 'love birds' inside a snow globe.

The Night of Navy card stock card base is layered with Whisper White embossed with Winter Snow embossing folder.  Before adhering it to the card base the edges were sponged with Night of Navy ink.

Two identical  pieces of Snowflake Splendor DSP, offset from each other were added near the center, and the snowglobe was added to the bottom left of this.

On a separate piece of Whisper White, the image of the two love owls were stamped inside of a the top of the snow globe, coloured, and die cut.

The base of the snow globe was embossed with gold embossing powder and die cut as well.

The two pieces were adhered together to form the complete snow globe.  Before adding some glitter crystal effects to the edge of the globe, it was sponged with some Night of Navy ink and then a bow make with glitter balmy blue Baker's twine was added with a glue dot.  Some tiny snowflake embellishments were added randomly around the owls and also on the DSP.

The snow globe was added to the card front using dimensionals.

The sentiment, stamped in Night of Navy ink was added below the globe using small dimensionals.

Globe Christmas Ornament

I have really had a lot of fun making different cards using the Still Scenes stamp  set .  I'll post pictures of them at the bottom of this post. Some are made with the globes, some without, and one with a window sheet in front.

This idea came to me just as I was going to bed last night and I wanted desperately to go to the craft room and make it. But I went to bed and got up early to make these wonderful ornaments.

Below is a 2 sided ornament.  Two globe ornaments were made and then adhered together.  The first picture shows one side; the picture below the other side. The bottom picture shows the side view.

A 'Global' Happy Birthday - Hand Stamped Sentiments #322

Over the last few days I have been playing with the new "Still Scenes" stamp set which is about to be released when the Holiday catalogue debutes in one day on September 4.  All cards I made with this set were Christmas cards, but I could not see why a globe card could not be for other occasions as well.

So, I made a 'globe' birthday card for the Inspiration Challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments

The base card of Seaside Spray is layered with Whisper White, and then Rococco Rose DSP.    The DSP is die cut using the Snowglobe scene die and this opening was used as a template to draw a faint pencil line on the Whisper White layer to outline the 'globe' area .

Three flowers and  small butterfly were stamped in Seaside Spray, Blackberry Bliss and Rococco Rose.  The petals of the flowers were curled after which Shimmer Crystal Effects and Stampin' Glitter was applied.  The butterfly was layered onto another butterfly and Crystal Effects applied as well.  Small pearls coloured with Blackberry bliss Stampin' blends were placed in the center of each flower.

Before adding the flower and butterfly to the penciled area, a 'dot' stamp from 'Still Scenes' was stamped multiple times in Rococco Rose to create some background interest, and the branch from 'Butterfly Wishes' was stamped across the middle.  The flowers and butterflies were then added.  Small pearls were randomly added to the background.

The globe and DSP was added to the card front.  The base of the globe, die cut in Smoky Slate was adhered below the globe using dimensionals. A bow made with Whisper White ribbon coloured with a Seaside Spray blendability was added to the base of the globe.

Extra butterflies punched with the Butterfly Duet punch in Seaside Spray were added to the card front and on top of the globe.

The sentiment, stamped in Rococco Rose, was added dangling from the globe

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Still Scenes, Butterfly Wishes
Inks:  Ricocco Rose, Seaside Spray, Blackberry Bliss, Gorgeous Grape
Papers:  Seaside Spray, Whisper White, Ricocco Rose DSP, Smoky Slate
Accessories:  Butterfly Duet punch, Snow Globes, Shimmer Crystal Effects, Stampin' Glitter, Snow Globe Dies, Pearls, 1/4" White Organza ribbon coloured with Seafoam Spray blendability

Snow Globe Card - and a free tutorial- a catalogue sneak peak

When I saw the snow globe stamp and die set as well as the globe shaker and shaker elements in the upcoming Holiday catalogue, I was in love!  I love making 3D objects, and although technically this card is not 3D it has the look of a 3D item.  And I love the little scenes that can go inside the globes. The possibilities for occasions to use this stamp set were endless - birthdays, halloween, etc.

The first card I made did not turn out very well.  So, I made another  and another. After making my 3rd card, I made a tutorial so that you don't have to make the same mistakes that I did. Also, I am sure some of you are saying "Oh this looks really hard"  "I don't think I can make that" and hopefully the tutorial will encourage you to at least try making one.

The link to the tutorial is below the pictures,

Here's the card:
