Pop Up Ornament Tag- a partial case

I made this pop up ornament/tag many years ago, so thought it was time to revisit this unique Christmas decoration and update it.

I revisited the original video tutorial by Tammy White in 2010 here  and then looked at her Nov. 2017 updated one here

Believe it or not I still have the original stamp set (Snowflake Soiree), and did use it to stamp the image of the large snowflake but used a more up-to-date stamp set for the second side.

And instead of using Very Vanilla card stock exclusively, like Tammy, I experimented with using the lovely new DSPs.

Snowflake Soiree in Blue and White

I just love the way this card turned out.  The snowflakes of this stamp set were stamped randomly using vera mark ink and then embossed with white embossing powder. All papers are sponged with Pacific Point ink.

Soiree Snowflake Mosaic Background - Challenge 196 LNS

The challenge this week is to create a project using a mosaic background.
Here is my card:

Technique:  To create the mosaic background, I started with a 5 1/4 by 2" piece of sticky page and removed the pink cover to reveal the sticky surface.  Then I cut up 2 pieces of  1 3/4 by 4" Candlelight Designer paper basically into triangle shapes and applied them randomly on the edges and middle of this sticky strip, leaving spaces in between the pieces.  After they were all applied, I trimmed the excess paper off and used the little pieces to fill in some spots than needed filling.
The next step involved gold embossing powder, which I sprinkled over the top of this strip and heat embossed it.
The back of the sticky page was then removed revealing the 2nd sticky surface, which was attached to a Very Vanilla layer embossed with the Petals-a-Plenty folder

Image: A snowflake was gold embossed on Very Vanilla cardstock, and a vintage button and large pearl was applied to the center.  Smaller pearls were attached around the snowflake. It was matted with Real Red, the edges of which were embossed with gold embossing powder.
I did the same with the sentiment.

Ribbon: SU does not have gold ribbon, so I made my own by applying Versa Mark followed by gold embossing powder to White Taffeta ribbon and heat setting.

Embossed Snowflake - Technostamper 237

What a beautiful day today! Temperatures in the high 20's, a slight breeze, and no humidity.  It's almost a sacrilige to be making Christmas cards, but I need to keep making them.  My next major Craft show is in less then 2 weeks away.
For this Christmas card I used the sketch challenge with Technostamper here

 

Technique:   

For some reason, when I saw this sketch I envisioned something in gold and blue, so those are the colors I used in the card.

The base is Midnight Meuse, followed by a layer of Whisper White which is embossed with the Lacy Brocade folder.  Next I made a half triangle to place on the left side of the card, again using Midnight Meuse, but this time I embossed it with the Square Lattice folder.  I also punched out a scallop border in Champagne glitter paper to attach to the edge of this triangle. The corners of this triangle were rounded with a corner rounder punch.

After stamping with Versa Mark on Whisper White card stock die cut with a 3 1/2" circle die, I applied embossing powder that was a mixture of 2 colors - gold and iridescent ice.  The picture doesn't do it justice, but the snowflake actually glitters. Some tiny pearls were attached to the outside edges of the snowflake.  On top of this embossed snowflake I mounted a small Champagne glitter snowflake using a dimensional.  A large pearl was placed on top of that.

Paper piercing was done around the periphery of the circle, after which it was mounted on a slightly larger circle of Champagne glitter.

This unit was attached to the card with dimensionals.

Christmas in Black and White - Sunny Challenges #58/12

Making a card in black and white only was definitely a challenge for me.  But that, along with a sketch challenge was the additional challenge with Sunny Challenges here 
I had to let the idea sit with me for a couple of days before I finally decided on a card.  Hope you like it.

 

Technique:  The base card is Basic Black layered with Whisper White which was embossed with the starburst embossing folder and then embossed with iridescent ice embossing powder.

The designer paper is from the neutrals paper pack.

The focal image was embossed with white embossing powder on black card stock.  If you look carefully you can see tiny pearls along the outside of the snowflake and in the middle.  The black cardstock was matted with white card stock and sponged slightly with black ink so that it would stand out againt the white embossed layer.  I also took the image and tilted it at an angle.

The bow had a white button tied around it with White Baker's Twine - basically to hide the white dots which is what is on the other side of the ribbon (and  I didn't want to show)

December 25 Snowflakes - Unscripted Sketches #171

It's so much cooler today, but the high humidity makes it feel so much warmer.  I went for a long walk and came home in a "sweat".
Maybe with the cooler weather the bats won't try to get in my house again.  Apparently the bats have been suffering with the heat we experienced in July and entered homes in this area in an effort to get cool.  I finally found how they were getting into my house - through a slight gap at the top of my screen door.  Now the inner door stays shut as soon as soon as it starts to get dark outside.  So far no bats for 2 nights - although my son and I find ourselves hypervigilant and looking for bats both inside and outside the house.

Snowflake Layered Stamping - and blog candy

I have been fascinated by all the layered or tiered stamping cards that are popping up on blogs and pinterest - so I thought I would try one. I couldn't find a tutorial for the one I had in mind so I just "winged" it. Because I am having a class on this next month I will not be doing a tutorial until later - if you would like one. Snowflake Soiree - Unscripted Sketches #169

For this card for the sketch challenge with Unscripted Sketches #169 here I thought I'd do a technique I haven't done for a while - emboss resist.  Again, this is a Christmas card done basically in 2 colors - Marina Mist and White with a touch of Silver glimmer paper thrown in.  The picture doesn't do it justice.

 

The basic card is Marina Mist card stock.  The next layer is double embossed using the starburst embossing folder and Iridescent Ice embossing powder.

The focal image was stamped with Versa Mark and embossed with white embossing powder.  After heat setting, Marina Mist ink was sponged over the entire surface.  With a paper towel, the ink over the snowflakes were wiped off and a silver glimmer brad was placed in the center.

These focal images were matted with Silver Glimmer paper and attached to the double embossed Whisper White card stock using dimensionals.

The small snowflakes were die cut using the new Snowflake die.  A 1/2" circle of Marina Mist and then a tiny silver glimmer paper was placed in the center of each snowflake.  The tiny silver glimmer 

circle was made using the eyes of the Owl builder punch.
