Angel of Peace - Make the Cards Challenge #39

A costomer of mine has been asked to teach a card class for the younger children at her church, and one of the cards had to feature an angel.  While helping her with the cards, I was inspired to make one of my own featuring the Angel of Peace stamp set, and used the sketch challenge with Make the Cards Challenge #39 to do so.

I featured the angel in a background created using my favourite technique - using blender brushes as well as the spotlighting technique.

The card base is a 4 1/4 by 5 1/2"  Night of Navy top fold card, layered with Basic White card stock.
The back ground was created on a 3 3/4 by 5" piece of Basic white card stock art piece.

After white embossing the big star and the snowflakes on the art piece, the following colours were added using a blender brush - Balmy blue, Misty Moonlight, and Night of Navy. Each colour was applied further away from the center and closer to the edge

Using a blender brush, the following colours were added to the sky - Balmy Blue,  followed by Misty Moonlight, and then Night of Navy each colour being applied closer to the edge of the card stock, and further away from the center.

An oval was die cut just off center, matted with a larger oval and placed back over the original oval using dimensionals.

The angel was stamped onto a separate piece of card stock, coloured with watercolour pencils and a blender pen.  After fussy cut,  the angel was added to the oval with dimensionals.

Clear Wink of Stella was applied over the entire image.

The sentiment, part of a larger sentiment, was stamped with Night of Navy ink , matted with Night of Navy card stock, and added adjacent to the angel.

Supplies Used:
Stamp:  Angels of Peace
Inks:  Black Memento, Balmy Blue, Misty Moonlight, Night of Navy, Watercolor pencils, Versa Mark
Papers:  Night of Navy, Basic White
Accessories:  Layering Oval dies, Dimensionals, Clear Wink of Stella, White embossing powder

Fireworks???

Every Wednesday and Saturday evenings there are free concerts in the park by the lake within walking distance of where I live.  At the end of each concert there are fireworks, and if I stand on my front porch I can see them.

Frenchie on one of her Facebook Live presentations used the "Dandelion Wishes" stamp set to create a fireworks card. This card is a partial case of the card she made.

Versamark was applied to the larger Dandelion stamp and then Cherry Cobbler and Night of Navy was applied using a marker. After stamping, clear embossing powder was applied and heat set.  This process was repeated a second time. Then, using a finger dauber, some Daffodil Delight was added to the center of each bloom.
Finally, using a sponge, Night of Navy was added to the entire card, with some white areas left around the blooms.  The entire surface was then wiped with a paper towel.
The word "sentiment" was die cut from "Celebrate You Thinlets" in Cherry Cobbler card stock and added to the card front.

Supplies:
Stamp:  Dandelion Wishes
Inks:  Cherry Cobbler, Night of Navy markers, Daffodil Delight and Night of Navy ink, Versa mark

Clematis in Center Step Card Fold - The Friday Mashup #221

I love my flowers!  Every mornin at 8:30 a.m.  (weather permitting) I am out in the garden, dead heading, weeding, edging, watering, etc.  It is a time I enjoy very much.  Usually the birds are very active that time of morning, and I hear cardinals, chickadees, doves, and the occasional robin and they are my music accompaniement (? spelling).
When I saw the challenge with The Friday Mashup I was delighted. Yes! Yes! I went.  Then I looked at the colour challenge that went with it: Delightful Dijon, Old Olive, and Rich Razzelberry.  I immediately thought of my clematis, which has finished blooming for the summer, but gave me such a show for over a month.  So, I punched some flower petals and leaves and formed a clematis.

  • The card is a Center Step fold card, and the tutorial I used is a modified version of the SCS one.  It was done by Brian King on his blog.
  • The base cardstock is Old Olive, and I used the SU trimmer to do the cutting and scoring.
  • The center piece  is layered with Rich Razzelberry cardstock, and then Whisper white embossed with the Brick embossing folder.
Flower:
  • 6 of the smaller flower petals from the Build a Flower punch (retired) were punched in Rich Razzelberry cardstock.  Each petal was sponged with Rich Razzelberry ink, and shaped with a stylus and the lid of the tombo glue.  A 3/4" circle was punched in Rich Razzelberry as well, and with a hot glue gun, the petals were added to the circle one by one.
  • For the center of the flower, I punch a 3/4" circle in Delightful Dijon, sponged the edges with the same colour of ink, then snipped all the way around the circle to create a fringe.  The center was then shaped using a tombo lid to push it into a stamping pad.  This was hot glued to the center of the clematis.  Then I punched a small Rich Razzelberry circle using the 1/8" hand held punch and adhered it to the center.  Finally a rhinestone was added.
  • 6 Old Olive leaves were punched using the same punch.  Again, each leaf was sponged using Old Olive ink, and then shaped with a stylus and tombo glue lid.
  • A narrow curved stem was cut free hand from a scrap of Old Olive and adhered to the Brick layer.
  • The Clematis was adhered to the upper right of this layer, with the leaves added one at a time in a random fashion.
This is one of the 4 clematis vines I have.  It was so beautiful this year.

Designer Paper
  • Seeing as I did not have any DSP with those colours I decided to make my own, using a multiple colour emboss resist technique (I made that up I think)
  • On a piece of Whisper White cardstock, I randomly sponged areas of Rich Razzelberry, Old Olive and Delightful Dijon using sponge daubers covering the entire surfaces i.e. no white areas.
  • Then using Versa Mark ink and the stamp set "Garden in Bloom", I randomly stampedvarious  t images all over the now very colourful paper.
  • Clear embossing powder was added, and then heat embossed.
  • Then the entire piece of treated paper was covered with Old Olive ink and a sponge dauber. To finish, the surface was wiped with a dry clean towel.
This DSP was used to place on the front and side pieces.

The sentiment is from the stamp set "Garden in Bloom", punched with a Decorative Label punch, sponged with Rich Razzelberry ink, and adhered to the front using dimensionals.
Tiny flowers in Rich Razzelberry cardstock were punched and added to the front, and two were punched with the remaining DSP and added under the clematis.

Rhinestones were added to the tiny flowers; bling to the edges of the clematic.

Blooming with Kindness - Thank You - Friday Mashup 89

The "Mashup" challenge this week here is to make a clean and simple layout using Heat Embossing.
Here is my card:

The image was stamped with Versa Mark, and heat embossed with white embossing powder.  Since this was done on Whisper White cardstock, some sponging was done on top of and around the embossed image so that the image could be seen (emboss resist)
The sentiment was stamped directly onto the single layer and a few rhinestones were used as embellishments.

Stamp: Blooming with Kindness
Ink: Versa Mark, Pretty in Pink, Lucky Limeade, Black Stazon
Papers: Pretty in Pink, Whisper White
Accessories: White embossing powder, rhinestones

Snowflake Soiree - Unscripted Sketches #169

For this card for the sketch challenge with Unscripted Sketches #169 here I thought I'd do a technique I haven't done for a while - emboss resist.  Again, this is a Christmas card done basically in 2 colors - Marina Mist and White with a touch of Silver glimmer paper thrown in.  The picture doesn't do it justice.

The basic card is Marina Mist card stock.  The next layer is double embossed using the starburst embossing folder and Iridescent Ice embossing powder.
The focal image was stamped with Versa Mark and embossed with white embossing powder.  After heat setting, Marina Mist ink was sponged over the entire surface.  With a paper towel, the ink over the snowflakes were wiped off and a silver glimmer brad was placed in the center.
These focal images were matted with Silver Glimmer paper and attached to the double embossed Whisper White card stock using dimensionals.
The small snowflakes were die cut using the new Snowflake die.  A 1/2" circle of Marina Mist and then a tiny silver glimmer paper was placed in the center of each snowflake.  The tiny silver glimmer
circle was made using the eyes of the Owl builder punch.

Stamps: Snowflake Soiree, Teeny tiny wishes
Inks: Versa Mark, Marina Mist
Accessories: White embossing powder, Iridescent Ice embossing powder, Corner rounder punch, Word Window punch, Snowflake die, Starburst embossing folder, Silver glimmer brad, dimensionals, Owl Builder punch, 1/2" circle punch
