50th Wedding Anniversary Card using Meant to BE

One of my classmates is celebrating her 50th Wedding Anniversary, and I was asked to make a card for this occasion by another classmate.
I think 50th anniversay cards should be elaborate, special and of course made in tones of gold and vanilla.
This is the card I came up with.

Both she and her husband are very musical, so I incorporated some music in the design of the card, placing music sheets behind the die cut hearts.  The music sheets were made using the Sheet Music  background stamp on Very Vanilla paper .

The base card is Thick Very Vanilla (5 by 7"), layered first with Gold Foil, then with Very Vanilla, the edges of which were die cut using the Be Mine Stitched edge die.  I used the largest Stitched Rectangle to die cut the middle of the gold foil layer.  This was used on another project.   This piece was then embossed with the Lace Embossing folder.

The gold foil central oval was die cut with the Heritage Oval die and embossed with the complimentary Heritage embossing folder.  This was adhered to the card front using dimensionals.

Two overlapping gold foil die cut scallop hearts with music sheets behind them were added to this oval near the top, with the numbers "50" inserted in the middle.  Flowers were added along the bottom.  Tiny butterflies are added in several locations.

Gold glitter was added to the center of the flowers.

A very vanilla trim, striped with gold, was added just below the oval edge, and a ribbon was added on top of it on the right side

Here's the inside finished with gold embossing , gold foil die cuts as well as music notes.

Floral Statement Swap Cards

The theme this month at one of my Yahoo groups is "flowers".

Normally I would make 3D flowers but because I need to make 3 identical cards the postage would be prohibitive. So I opted to use "Floral Statements" stamp set and color the images with diluted Brusho crystals.

Using Black Memento ink, the background "Sheet Music" stamp set was stamped onto Whisper white card stock
The floral image was black embossed directly onto the sheet music background and colored with diluted Brusho crystals using an aqua painter.  This paint was applied in thin coats and allowed to dry between layers. To get the shade of colors I wanted I mixed some of the colors together  For instance, the flowers were painted with Yellow Brusho, but accented with a mixture of Yellow and Gumbage.  Yellow was also added to Mossy Green on the leaves.

This focal piece was trimmed and the edges sponged with Basic Gray ink before being matted with Daffodil Delight card stock and then Basic Black.  Some 3/8" mini chevron Crushed Curry ribbon was wrapped around the bottom of this piece and a bow adhered with a glue dot.

This was adhered to the card base - layers of  Daffodil Delight base, Basic Black and then Whisper White card stock.

To finish the card, I added 3 Crushed Curry glimmer enamel dots.

Again, no card is complete without glimmer, so some Clear Wink of Stella was applied to all the flowers.

Hello Friend - Paper Players #358

I love to watercolor, so this week's challenge at The Paper Players was right up my alley.

This week the challenge is a clean and simple one - sometimes difficult for me because I do like to fuss- and to get colouring. Keeping it clean and simple means limited layers and embellishments.

For this week's challenge I pulled out my watercolour pencils and aqua painter.

I stamped the image onto Whisper White card stock, and before colouring the image, I applied liquid masking solution to completely cover it. After that was dry, I stamped the background stamp "Sheet Music" using Smoky Slate ink over the masked image.  I then peeled off the now dry masking (it's like peeling off sunburned skin) and coloured the image with watercolor pencils and an aqua painter

Some Basic Black card stock was added to both ends and the art piece was added to a Calypso Coral card stock card base at and angle..  The sentiment "Friend"  from Awesomely Artistic" is embossed with Black Embossing powder and added to the art piece using dimensionals

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Floral Statement, Awesomely Artistic, Music Sheet
Inks:  Black Memento, Watercolour Pencils, Versa Mark, Smokey Slate
Papers:  Calypso Coral, Whisper White, Basic Black
Accessories:  Aqua Painter, Black embossing Powder, gold and clear glitter.
