For Being You - Create with Connie & Mary #348

I've had a really busy day today - and yesterday.  My older sister, in Vancouver, was very upset and anxious because of a medical diagnosis she had received.For the next hour it was crisis intervention time. When she settled down a bit. she wanted me to phone our other sister in Kingston because she wants her and myself to come to Vancouver as soon as we could arrange it.  Then she wanted me to e-mail her daughter in Australia as she was too anxious and tearful to have a phone conversation with her.
I phoned my younger sister only to find that she was also unwell.  She had recently visited a very poor section of India with her church, and picked up a "bug" - a gastro bug and has been quite ill and consquently been unable to eat.  She's lost weight and looks like a bag of bones!  But its been the fatigue that she finds most distressing.

So it fell upon me to research flights to Vancouver , find the cheapest one,  constantly e-mailing my sister back and forth with the information, & also keeping my older sister informed.

Nothing has been settled as to when my sister and I will go to Vancouver, but we're planning around the middle of June.

But enough about me.  When all the crises were dealt with I just wanted to sit down and make a card.  I chose to do the colour challenge with Connie & Mary   The colours:  Rose Red, Soft Sky and Sahara Sand.

 

After embossing one of the new fun frames, a small piece of Sahara Sand was cut to fit in the center.  On this small piece, the flower from the stamp set "Nature's Perfection" was stamped with Versa Mark and embossed with black embossing powder. With a small brush and some household bleach, the flower and leaf were painted with bleach to remove the colour.  After drying with a heat tool, some Rose Red was returned to the flower using an Aqua painter and a Rose Red inkpad.  A little bit of Rose Red was put on the leaf as well.

The edges of this art piece were sponged with Rose Red ink and adhered to the inside of the embossed frame.  To take some of the stark whiteness away from the frame it was sponged with Sahara Sand ink.

The base card is Soft sky, layered with Sahara Sand which was embossed with the Tiny Triangles embossing folder.  A piece of Soft Sky scalloped at the lower end, was adhered to the middle of the card.  A piece of designer vellum with the same flower on it was coloured on the wrong side with a Rose Red marker.  Not every flower was coloured.  When done it was adhered to the scalloped soft sky strip.  To the top of this strip was adhered a piece of Sahara Sand lace ribbon.

The Fun Frame was added to the card on the left side using dimensionals.

The sentiment is from "For Being You", stamped with Basic Black on Sahara Sand, and punched with a small oval punch.  The edges were sponged with Red Rose ink and then matted with a Soft sky modern word label punch.  Some pearls were placed beneath the sentiment.

Thank You so Much

I am going to try to use one SAB per day for the next week, and today is the start of it.  Two SAB products were used to make this Thank You card - The Sheer Perfection Designer Vellum and "Nature's Perfection" stamp set.

The small floral image was stamped with Black Stazon ink and coloured with SU markers.  This Whisper White piece was matted with Tempting Turquoise cardstock.

The base card is Tempting Turquoise, layered with Whisper White over which I placed the same size piece of the designer Vellum.  Prior to attaching the Vellum, the flowers and stems were coloured with markers on the wrong side.

The faux dye technique, as described in a SU video was done on a piece of Whisper White seam  binding using a Tempting Turquoise marker.  I let the ribbon dry overnight before I attached it to the card.

This ribbon and bow were adhered to the lower end of the card, over the Vellum and Whisper White layer.

Once that was complete, the art piece was attached to the upper left of the card using dimensionals.  The sentiment, from "Another Thank You" was stamped directly on the Vellum using Stazon ink.

To complete the card, a small butterfly from "Papillon Potpourri" was stamped on a vellum remnant piece and coloured on the wrong side with markers.  When dry, the butterfly was cut out and adhered to the image panel with a glue dot.

A Lotus Blossom Thank You - Pals Paper Arts #224

Sale-a-bration is almost over.  We're now into our last week. Because of that I want to use as many of the SAB products this week that I can.

Today I used a sketch by Pals Paper Arts and I used the Lotus Blossom stamp set.  I think this is one of my favourite SAB product.

 

SU has made stamping the images of the Lotus Flower so easy my numbering the tabs.  I just had to remember to start with my darkest colour first, then go to the medium colour for #2 and the lightest colour for #3.
The colours I used:  Pacific Point, Marina Mist, and Soft Sky.The images were cut out and mounted, using dimensionals,on a 1 3/8" Whisper White circle embossed with the Decorative Dots folder.  This was layered with a Marina Mist circle die cut using the Circle Framelits, and finally with a scalloped circle in Pacific Point (using the retired Scallop Circle die #2).  The latter was adhered using dimensionals.

The base card is Soft Sky cardstock, layered with Whisper White, and then Pacific Point embossed with the Spring Flower Garden folder.

A strip of Soft Sky cardstock covered with the same size Vellum from the Sheer Perfection Designer Vellum Stack.  Over that, in the middle a piece of White Jute ribbon was attached.

The image piece was attached to the top half of the card in the middle.

The sentiment, from the same stamp set, was stamped in Pacific Point in on Whisper White, punched with the 1" circle punch, layered with Marina mist punched with the small oval punch and layered again with Pacific Point punched with the Bracket Label punch.  Rhinestones were placed on both sides of the small Marina Mist oval.

As a last step I applied Dazzling details outlining the Lotus blossom flowers.

Butterfly Thanks - The Friday Mashup #201

This challenge presented me with a bit of difficulty.  At The Friday Mashup this week, it was a colour challenge - Rich Razzelberry, Smoky Slate and Pacific Point, not colours I would have put together.  The other element of the challenge was to create a "See-thru element (window, acetate, vellum" on the project.  It took me some thinking, but eventually decided on using the SAB Sheer Perfection Vellum pack - the butterflies, and create a window using the Window Frame collection framelits.

This Week's Mash Up! Challenge: 

• Create a project using Rich Razzleberry, Smoky Slate & Pacific Point*". 
• Create a project with a "See-thru element (window, acetate, vellum). 
• or Mash it Up! and create a project "using the colors above and a see thru element". 

I apolize for the colour of the card.  I don't understand the yellowish tint on the left hand side.

After embossing the Smoky Slate cardstock with the Woodgrain embossing folder, a window was die cut into the top half using the Window Frame Collection Framelit.  A piece of Window sheet was adhered at the back to cover the opening.

Using the die cut window as a template, only the butterflies showing through the window were coloured.  They were coloured on the wrong side using markers in the colours of the challenge.

The Smoky Slate cardstock was adhered to the vellum piece using dimensionals giving depth to the window.  This was adhered to Whisper White cardstock, and then a Rich Razzelberry base.

Before attaching the Whisper White to the base, 1/2 piece of 1 1/4" Pacific Point grosgrain ribbon which was frayed on the cut edge, was adhered below the window. 

Using the beautiful wings embosslet die, some butterflies were die cut and adhered to the front of the card, and tiny pearls placed on their bodies.

The sentiment is from "Lots of Thanks' and was die cut using the Banner Framelits.
