Tulip Birthday

I saw the surgeon today and he removed two clear suture tails at either end of my suture line on my wrist/hand. Amazingly he had closed the wound without using external sutures so that scaring would be minimal.

I can now start to make cards, but my effort has to be minimal.  The verdict is a recovery period of 6 to 8 weeks before healing is complete. If my hand starts to hurt I must stop.

Having been given the green light, I proceeded to make a card, using the Easter Blessings stamp set, and coloured it using an Aqua painter and SU ink pads.  I must admit my hand was a sore by the time I was finished, but I felt good at the same time.

I stamped the image multiple times at different levels on a piece of Whisper White card stock -covering up the sentiment attached to the stamp.  Stazon ink was used as my plan was to water colour the tulips.  Then, using SU ink pads and an aqua painter, the tulips were coloured, using two shades of each colour to create dimension.  Some Sky Blue ink was lightly painted around the tulips.
The sentiment was from Perfectly Penned, a stamp set that is (sigh) sadly retiring.

Hockey Pop Up Card

It's my grandson's 7th birthday, and he's a hockey nut.  He's played on a team since he was 4.  Now last year he liked the Ottawa Senators (that's his dad's favourite team), so I made him a red and black card.  This year I hope he likes the Toronto Maple Leaf's (his mom's team) because that's the card I made him.
I made it into a stand alone pop up card because that was the tutorial with Stampin' Fun and Friends this week and I like to replicate the tutorials if I can.
Here is my card:

I stamped the front end using the Stamp set Glorious and Free, but I had stickers for the back end.
The hockey player stamp set is from Class Act Stamps - the only place I could find a hockey player stamp.  Since the store is in Oshawa, only 1/2 hour from here, it was easy to drive down there and get it.  This gal was on a mission!

Bloomin' Marvelous Birthday - Friday Mashup #93 & Fab Friday #10

For this card I thought I would combine 2 challenges in one - The Friday Mashup here and Fab Friday here
It's Holly's birthday week on the Friday Mashup, and she likes lots of brads on her card.  I used the colors from the color challenge at Fab Friday to make Holly's birthday card.

 

 The base card is Pink Pirouette, layered with Crumb Cake cardstock embossed with the Honeycomb folder.  Three brads were inserted in the upper right portion.

The image panel was made by randomly stamping images from the SAB stamp set Bloomin' Marvelous in Cherry cobbler, Pool Party, Pink Pirouette, Crumb Cake on Very Vanilla cardstock.  Brads were inserted into the middle of 2 of the flowers, and tiny pearls in the eyes of the hummingbird.  This panel was matted with Pink Pirouette card stock.

The sentiment was stamped with Cherry Cobbler on Very Vanilla card stock and die cut using the Apothecary accent framelit.  Then, using the mat pack and paper piercer, this die cut was pierced all the way around.  Brads were inserted in both ends, and a row of pearls along the bottom of the words.  It was attached to the card using dimensionals.

The butterfly was made by stamping the small butterfly with pool party and punched with the tiny butterfly punch - then layered onto a butterfly punched with the larger butterfly punch.  Some pearls were placed on the body and the wings flipped up. It was attached to the lower right portion of the card using glue dots.

Falling Leaves - Thank You - Technostamper #241

I'm finally caught up getting my products ready for the next craft show- which is this weekend.  I sold out of a lot of things the last show (1 week ago) so I had to get my gear in action and create, create, create!!  Today it is so nice to say, I'm caught up - and now I can get caught up with my challenges.

I wanted to make a fall card as I had leaves left over from another project.

 

Technique:   The leaves were die cut using Very Vanilla card stock and the Autumn Accents die.  Each leaf was folded in half and laid on the Woodgrain folded at a 45 degree angle and run through the big shot.  After carefully opening each leaf (they tear easily), each was sponged with Riding Hood Red, Daffodil Delight, Lucky Limeade, and the edges sponged with Soft suede.  They were then spritzed with gold smooch.  The acorn was made in 2 stages.  Two acorns were die cut - one in Very Vanilla, and one in Soft Suede.  The Soft Suede acorn was embossed with the Square lattice folder, and the top cut off.  The Very Vanilla one was sponged and the Soft Suede top was adhered to it. The entire acorn was then spritzed with gold smooch.

The leaves were attached to the card with dimensionals.

Gently Falling Collage Thank You - Challenge 192 LNS

With the cool nights and the warm days the leaves on the trees are really starting to turn to brilliant red, yellows, oranges and some brown.  It's absolutely breath taking.
The challenge with the Late Night Stamper's Group is "tearing" and I try to emulate some of the colors I have seen.

Technique:
The Early Espresso card base is layered with Whisper White, and then Core'dination Early Espresso card stock embossed with the Wood grain folder.  The latter was lightly sanded.
Panel:
I took a panel of Whisper White and sponged the following colors on it:  Riding Hood Red, Cajun Craze, Lucky Limeade, Tangerine Tango, and Daffodil Delight.
Then, using Soft Suede ink, the images of the stamp set "Gently Falling" were stamped all over the panel in a random fashion.
Now comes the tearing part.  I tore both long sides of the panel and then sponged the edges with Soft Suede ink.  The panel was matted with Crumb Cake card stock, which was also torn down the long sides and sponged with Soft Suede ink.
Embellishment: 
Three leaves were die cut using the Autumn Accents die, folded in half and embossed with the Woodgrain folder.  They were then sponged with the same colors was the panel, and spritzed with gold smooch.  Stampin' Dimensionals were used to adhere the leaves together.
The ribbon is Crumb Cake seam binding held in place by a ribbon slide, and adhered to the embellishment with a dimensional.

Vintage Vogue Thank You - Sketch Frenzy Friday

Well, it looks like spring is finally here and I have been spending a lot of time in my garden.  My healing knee is slowing me down somewhat and this is a source of great frustration for me.  Thank goodness for my son who has been a tremendous help, doing all the heavy work.
I've also been getting ready for a craft show tomorrow - a show aimed at the last minute shoppers for Mother's Day.
Yes, it is Mother's Day on Sunday.  I hope that those of you who have important ladies in your lives have sent a card and/or present for this special day.
Talk about days creeping up on you - Fridays do that for me.  Today is Friday and time for another mini blog hop with Sketch Frenzy Friday.
This week's sketch is by moi (yes me), but before I show you the sketch I am going to show you the card.

The larger flowers were stamped with Island Indigo on Whisper White card stock and cut out; the smaller flowers were stamped with Baja breeze ink and also cut out.  Then 2 leaves were stamped for each flower using Lucky Limeade ink - and they were cut out.
To make the flower unit, the small flower was adhered to the larger flower using tombo glue.  Then an Everyday Enchantment brad (unforunately retired) was inserted in the middle.  Don't they make a nice pop of green?  Then 2 leaves were attached to the flower using tombo glue.
Each flower unit was adhered to a 1" Island Indigo circle and then adhered to the card.

Simply Soft Get Well - Stamping 411 #245

Maybe I made this card for myself.  I am having knee replacement surgery this coming Friday and will be in hospital for close to 2 weeks.  Get Well ....I will.
