A Spring Flower for SUO Challenges #241

This week the theme at SUO Challenges is "Flowers".  I love flowers, any flower, paper, or real.  I love them all.

And I particularly like the flower for this card, the crocus. This bulb flower sticks its head above the ground while the snow is still on the ground. This is a welcome sight after a long Canadian winter.

Although the sentiment on this card is an Easter one, it could be a birthday, anniversary or even a sympathy card.

This one layer card in Whisper White card stock, is made elegant by the stitched embossed rectangular frame in the center.  This frame was made using the Stitched Rectangle Die using the Stampin' Up embossing mat and the Big Shot.

The flower was stamped inside this frame and coloured with light and dark Mango Melody Stampin' Blends.  The leaves and stems were coloured with a Granny Apple Green marker.   A blue wash  around the flowers made them stand out a bit more.

Then another embossed frame, centered in the rectangle frame, was made around the flower using the new Stitched So Sweetly Die and the Embossing mats.

The sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes is punched with the Classic Label punch, matted with Daffodil Delight ,and added at an angle just below the flowers.

A bow, made with some 3/8" Whisper White crumpled seam binding coloured with a Mango Melody Stampin' Blend was added to the stems just below the flowers

Happy Birthday with Tulip Flowers

This stamp is originally an Easter stamp, but I cut off the sentiment so that the stamp is more versatile.
This stamp would make a wonderful Birthday card, so that's what I did.

The tulips were stamped with Black Memento ink and coloured with blendabilities (Melon Mambo and Old Olive).  I then cut the tulips out.

A small oval was die cut using Whisper White cardstock, and the edges pierced with the Occasions Paper Piercing Pack and a Paper Piercer.  This was adhered to a Melon Mambo label framlet die cut using dimensionals.

The tulips were adhered to the white oval and dazzling details added to the edges of the blooms.

The basic card is Melon Mambo, layered with Whisper White cardstock embossed with the Polka dot embossing folder.  Two sizes of banners were die cut using the Banners Framelits - the larger one using Sweet Taffy DSP; the smaller one in Old Olive which had been embossed with the Tiny Triangles Embossing folder.  The two banners were adhered together and then added to right side of the Whisper White cardstoc.

The focal image was adhered to the upper left.  Below this image, a Melon Mambo bow, made with the Bow Builder punch, was added.

The sentiment, stamped in Old Olive, is from "Big Day" (SAB)

Tulip Birthday

I saw the surgeon today and he removed two clear suture tails at either end of my suture line on my wrist/hand. Amazingly he had closed the wound without using external sutures so that scaring would be minimal.

I can now start to make cards, but my effort has to be minimal.  The verdict is a recovery period of 6 to 8 weeks before healing is complete. If my hand starts to hurt I must stop.

Having been given the green light, I proceeded to make a card, using the Easter Blessings stamp set, and coloured it using an Aqua painter and SU ink pads.  I must admit my hand was a sore by the time I was finished, but I felt good at the same time.

I stamped the image multiple times at different levels on a piece of Whisper White card stock -covering up the sentiment attached to the stamp.  Stazon ink was used as my plan was to water colour the tulips.  Then, using SU ink pads and an aqua painter, the tulips were coloured, using two shades of each colour to create dimension.  Some Sky Blue ink was lightly painted around the tulips.
The sentiment was from Perfectly Penned, a stamp set that is (sigh) sadly retiring.

Stamps: Blessed Easter, Perfectly Penned
Inks: Black Stazon, Pink Pirouette, Primrose Petals, Daffodil Delight, Summer Starfruit, Old Olive, Always Artichoke, Sky Blue
Papers: Primrose Petals, Daffodil Delight, Whisper White
Accessories: Aqua painter

Bloomin' Marvelous Easter Blessings - Technostamper #255

Aren't you tired of winter?  Spring is supposed to arrive on Wednesday (that's tomorrow) but you'd never know it by looking outside.  Last night Mother Nature played an awful trick on us dumping about 5 to 10 cm of snow on the ground. There's a saying - a green Christmas; a white Easter.  Will that be true this year? Our Christmas was certainly green as it didn't start to snow until Boxing Day.

However, Easter is about a week or so away and I find myself if need of one more Easter card to send to family members.

I used the sketch challenge with Technostamper here to make the card.  Again, I'm using a SAB stamp set as well.

As you can see, I turned the sketch on its side and moved the embellishment so as not to conflict with the flowers.

First I took an image from "Everything Eleanor", inked it with Gumball Green, stamped off twice and then stamped on Whisper White card stock.  The sentiment, from "Easter Blessings" was stamped onto this image using Black Stazon. I tried to center it as much as possible, but still don't have total control with the stamp-a-ma-jig yet.

This image panel was matted with first Gumball green cardstock, and then Marina Mist.

At this point, 4 flowers from the "Bloomin' Marvelous" stamp set were stamped on a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock - 2 in Summer Starfruit, 2 in Primrose Petals, and 2 in Marina Mist.  These I cut out - a most tedious process, but the result is worth it.  They were adhered to alternate corners of the image panel using tombo glue, and rhinestones placed in their centers.

I then prepared the rest of the card.  The base is Marina Mist, layered with Whisper White, and then a blue/green floral DSP from the Festival of Prints Designer Series Paper Stack.  It looked the most Easterly (is that a word?), and coordinated with the cardstock and flowers the best.

A piece of Summer Starfruit stitched ribbon was attached at the left hand side of the card, and then the image panel was adhered using dimensionals. Two designer buttons were placed on the left lower part of the image panel, and a bow to the top.

Here's a summary of the supplies used:

Stamps: Everything Eleanor, Bloomin' Marvelous (SAB), Easter Blessings
Inks: Gumball Green, Marina Mist, Summer Starfruit, Primrose Petals, Black Stazon
Papers: Marina Mist, Whisper White, Festival of Prints DSP pack, Gumball Green
Accessories: Stamp-a-ma-jig, 3/8" Summer Starfruit stitched ribbon, Marina Mist designer buttons, rhinestones, dimensionals, glue dots, tombo glue.
