Gnome Peace on Earth - Make the Card Challenge #38

Challenge #38 of the Make the Card Challenge is a colour one - actually a single colour - Mossy Meadow green.

For this challenge I made a slim line card and  combined a number of stamp sets and dies from Ten Ghome from Frog's Whiskers to Peace & Joy from Stampin' Up.  The main colour was Mossy Meadow  with touches of Red and Yellow to provide a bit of interest.

Here is my card

Dimensions:
Card Base:  Mossy Meadow 9 by 7" scored at 3 1/2"
First Card Layer: Mossy Meadow with white dots DSP 8 3/4 by 3 1/4"
Art Piece:  Basic White 8 1/2 by 3:

Trees from the Peaceful Cabin set were stamped along the horizon.  Evening Evergreen ink was used for this, but the extra trees that were stamped on a separate piece of Basic white were stamped with Soft Succulent ink. The lighter coloured trees were die cut and added in front of the other trees with dimensionals.

The little gnomes are named "Ted" and are designed by Rose Marie Kerr from Frog's Whisker's in Campbellford, Ontario.  Ted was stamped twice on Basic White card stock with Black Memento ink and coloured with Stampin' Blends -{Real Red, Daffodil Delight and Evening Evergreen}.  Some Liquid Applique was added to the fur on the hats with some Dazzling diamonds sprinkled on it while it was wet.  This was heat set until the applique looked like snow.

The two gnomes were added to the card front using dimensionals.

The sentiment was die cut in 3 layers, and 3 shades of green using the Peace and Joy bundle.

Supplies Used:

Stamps:  Ted Gnome, Peaceful Cabin, Peace & Joy

Inks:  Mossy Meadow Soft Succulent, Evening Evergeen, Stampin' Blends (Daffodil Delight, Real Red, Mossy Meadow, Pink Petals, Smoky Slate)

Papers:  Mossy Meadow, Basic White, Retired Mossy Meadow DSP, Old Olive, Soft Sea Foam

Accessories:  Cabin Dies, Joy Dies, Liquid Applique, Dazzling Diamonds, Dimensionals

Peaceful Cabin Pop Up

The Peaceful Cabin bundle is one of my favourite bundles so far, and today I made a pop up card using this bundle.

This card is 5 1/2 by 5 1/2" - a little larger than usual, so I made an envelope using the envelope punch board.

The front of the card is a piece of DSP trimmed to 5 by 5", matted with a 5 1/4 by 5 1/4" piece of Smokey Slate card stock and then added to a 5 1/2 by 5 `/2" Thick Basic White card stock base.  The sentiment, from Christmas to Remember, is stamped in the lower right corner,  using Basic Gray ink.

This is what the card looks like opened up and below from the side.

Stamp and die cut the following  images on Basic White cardstock using Basic Gray ink.
  • Cabin
  • Trees - 3 sets for a total of 6 trees
  • Fox - 2
  • Die cut only 2 large and 1 small tree from Basic Gray card stock
Stamp sentiment with Basic Gray ink.  Die cut with layering circle die and mat with a larger Basic Gray die.
Die cut  a small rectangle basic white  piece  and a larger Basic Gray piece using the  Scallop contour dies.

Putting the Card together:

Inside front:
  • Add a 5 1/4 by of 5 1/4" piece of Peaceful Place DSP (snowflakes) to the inside front before adding the pop up mechanisms all of which are made using thick basic white card stock.
Pop Ups:
  • Pop Up 1 - near the top    5 1/2 by 4 1/4  scored at 1/2, 3 1/2, and 4"
  • Pop Up 2 - middle    3 1/2 b y 3 1/2" scored at 1/2, 1, and 3"
  • Pop Up 3 - bottom   3 1/2 by 1 1/2"  scored at 1/2, 1 1/2, and 2 1/2"
  • Burnish all folds well.
Add the cabin and trees to Pop Up 1.  Stamp the fence twice below the cabin.

Add the two foxes and 3 trees at one end, and another tree at the lower middle , to pop up 2

Add two of the larger trees to pop up 3

On the bottom portion of the inside, add a 3 1/4 by 5 1/4" of  Peaceful Place DSP .  Then add the two scallop contour dies.  At the right side, add the sentiment piece.
Add a couple of snow flakes and the card is done.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Peaceful Cabin, Christmas to Remember
Inks:  Basic Gray
Papers:  Thick Basic white, Smokey Slate, Basic white, Peaceful Place DSP
Accessories:  Cabin Dies, Layering circle dies, Scallop contour dies

Peaceful Season Hand Stamped Sentiment #374

This card was made for the sketch challenge with Hand Stamped Sentiments #374

I used one of my favourite stamp sets - Peaceful Cabin,  with its coordinating DSP  "Peaceful Place DSP"

The colour scheme of this card is monochromatic - mainly tones of Black, Gray and White.

The card base of Basic Gray is matted with a Silver Foil layer (with the middle section die cut which was used for the center).  On top of that was added a layer of DSP which reminds me of rain running down a window pane.

The focal image in the center is the die cut silver foil upon which is layered a Basic Gray layer, followed by a piece of DSP which depicts rows of trees, Across this DSP layer, near the bottom, is added a 2" strip of DSP (faint polka dots) with narrow strips of check pattern DSP at the top and bottom of this horizontal piece.

Above this horizontal strip is added 2  die cut foxes.

The sentiment, from the Peaceful Cabin stamp set, is stamped with Basic Gray ink and die cut with a layering circle die.  It is added to the focal image using dimensionals.

The finished focal image is added to the card front using dimensionals.

To finish the card, three elegant Faceted dots were added to the card front

The finished card looks almost like a framed picture.

Supplies Used:
Stamp:  Peaceful Cabin
Ink:  Basic Gray
Papers:  Basic Gray, Silver Foil, Peaceful Place DSP, Basic White
Accessories:  Cabin Dies, Layering Circle dies, Stitched Rectangle dies, Dimensionals, Elegant Faceted dots,

Peaceful Cabin Five Ways - a Mini Catalogue Sneak Peak

The new Mini Catalogue launches after this long weekend - August 3, and so does the second installment of Sale-a-bration (SAB).

I have many upcoming catalogue stamp favourites, but the Peaceful Cabin bundle and DSP is one of them.  Once I felt comfortable using the stamp/die combinations it was time for a little experimenting. I wanted to see the effect of putting different designer papers behind the cabin.

This is the original card made in tones of Basic Gray and silver and Basic White.   In the back ground is the Peaceful Place DSP (silver snowflakes)

Put a different pattern behind the cabin, stamp the trees with Evening Evergreen ink and the card looks like this.

To create a fall scene, the DSP was changed to one of the pattern of Beauty of the Earth DSP.  I also stamped the cabin with Early Espresso ink

For this card, the Beauty of the Earth DSP, Mossy meadow and Evening Evergreen ink was used to stamp the trees.  The cabin was stamped with Evening Evergreen ink,

This time the blue pattern of the Beauty of the Earth DSP was added.  The blue tones were facilitated by stamping the trees and cabin with Pacific Point ink

Its amazing how changing the DSP behind the cabin gives you a different picture and mood of the cabin.

Peaceful Cabin and Peaceful Place DSP - Another new Catalogue sneak peak.

When I first opened the new Mini catalogue, there was one bundle set that spoke out to me - the Peaceful Cabin stamp set and dies. Once I got them I wanted to play with them, but life had other plans.

Today those plans changed!

Now was my turn to play - and I was like a kid in a candy store!  My first card is below:

It's almost like a photograph!  The colour scheme is Basic White, Basic Gray, and Smoky Slate. with a touch of Silver Foil. The card is constructed using stamps, dies, Silver Foil, and Peaceful Place DSP.

On a Smokey Slate A2 top fold card base, DSP is added as a background  I almost hated to cut the gorgeous DSP, and hated even more to cover up the silver foil pattern on the reverse side . As a backdrop for the cabin some of the new silver foil  was matted with some DSP that has the silver snowflakes.

The cabin, trees, fence and the two foxes were stamped with Basic Gray ink on separate pieces of Basic White card stock.  I used the stamparatus to stamp the cabin as I worried the image needed more that one stamping attempt. And I was right!

The dies for the tree and cabin were different from the usual dies. They cut only the outline of the top, leaving the bottom of the images intact.  The dies for the fence and fox, however, cut out the entire image.

When done, the cabin and trees were lined up where I wanted them, and die cut all of them together with a stitched rectangle die.

Once the scene was complete some dazzling diamonds was added to provide a sparkle to the snow.  The sentiment was embossed with silver embossing powder, die cut with the ornate frame die and added to the upper front with dimensionals.

Supplies Used:
Stamp:  Peaceful Cabin
Inks:  Basic Gray, Versa Mark, Smokey Slate
Papers:  Smokey Slate, Basic White, Peaceful Place DSP, Silver Foil
Accessories:  Stitched Rectangle dies, Ornate frame die, Silver embossing powder, Cabin dies, Stamparatus, Dazzling diamonds,
