Desk top Calendar - a class project

This desk top calendar will be one of the class projects this week. It's such a cute project, and would make a wonderful gift for a teacher, a fellow work mate or a stocking stuffer for Christmas. In addition, they will  be an item on my craft table Thanksgiving weekend (in 2 weeks time)

This will be the first time I am able to use calendars in projects because up to now I have not been able to get them shipped to Canada.  I was so excited when they finally arrived on Friday!

There are so many tutorial on-line on how to make desk top calendars - all slightly different from each other - that I decided  to use a composite of several tutorials.
.

I started a with a piece of Crushed Curry card stock 4 1/8 by 11 3/4" long and scored it at 1", 1 7/8", 3 1/4 and 7 1/2". The scored areas were folded and burnished in such a way to form an easel that allows the calendar to stand up and/or fold flat to place in an envelope,

On the art piece on the front  I  stamped 3 Sunflowers using the Painted Daisy stamp set using the following colours:  Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie, and Crushed Curry, with Chocolate Chip in the center.  A gold faceted gem was placed in the center of each flower. The leaves were double stamped with  Garden Green ink.  Before adding the calendar I adhered it to a 1 1/2 by 3" piece of Crushed Curry card stock.

After sponging the edges with Crumb Cake I adhered it to a piece of Chocolate Chip card stock before  adhering it to the desk top piece.

Supplies Used:
Stamp:  Painted Harvest
Inks:  Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie, Garden Green, Crumb Cake, Early Espresso
Papers:  Crushed Curry, Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla
Accessories: Gold Faceted Gem, 12 month calendar (non SU), Scoring Tool

Painted Autumn Thanksgiving Card

Thanksgiving weekend is coming up fast.  Here in Canada it is the first weekend in October, and since I am doing a 3 day craft show on that weekend I needed to make some Thanksgiving/autumn cards.

The this sunflower on this card, I experimented with several color combinations:  Daffodil Delight, Crushed Curry and Daffodil Delight; Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie and Daffodil Delight; and finally Daffodil Delight, Cajun Craze and Daffodil Delight.- and deciding on the Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie option.

On Very Vanilla card stock, I stamped 3 sunflowers in a random pattern using the predetermined color pattern.  The center is stamped with Early Espresso ink; the leaves in Garden Green.

At the bottom is a strip of Painted Autumn Specialty DSP with some burlap ribbon on top.

The sentiment was punched with the Pretty Label punch and gold faceted gems added to the flower centers and below the sentiment.

Some Gold Wink of Stella was "splattered" across the card front and then I was done.

Supplies Used:
Stamp:  Painted Harvest
Inks: Early Espresso, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Garden Green
Papers:  Cajun Craze, Very Vanilla, Painted Autumn DSP
Accessories:  Burlap ribbon, Pretty Label Punch, Gold Faceted Gems, Gold Wink of Stella

Painted Harvest Birthday - Try Stampin' or Not on Tuesday #335

The theme with Dawn's sketch at Try Stampin' or Not on Tuesday #335 is embossing.  I've been playing quite a bit with Stampin' Up's new Embossing Paste, so I incorporated that into my design team card for this week's challenge.

Would you believe the top flower is cut directly out of the Painted Autumn Harvest DSP?  The flower below was stamped with Crushed Curry using the Painted Harvest Stamp set and fussy cut.
Before adhering the two layers together I clear embossed both and adhered some gold metallic thread between the layers.  A gold faceted gem was placed in the middle of the Sunflower.

Since embossing  is the optional theme for this sketch, I thought I would apply some coloured Embossing paste (coloured with Crumb Cake reinker) on a 3 3/4 by 5 piece Very Vanilla  cardstock using the Playful Decorative Mask from Stampin' Up.  I applied it only in 2 areas as I wanted to stamp the leaves for the Sunflower directly onto the background in between.

Before adding the flower, I adhered some 5/8" Burlap ribbon near the top, and stamped two leaves using Garden Green ink below and in the middle of the art piece.

The sentiment is from "Special Celebrations"

Supplies Used:
Stamps: Painted Harvest, Special Celebrations
Inks:  Crumb Cake reinker, Early Espresso, Crushed Curry, Garden Green
Papers:  Early Espresso, Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, Painted Autumn Harvest DSP
Accessories:  Embossing Paste, Clear embossing powder, Everyday Label Punch, Gold Metallic Thread, 5/8" Burlap ribbon, Happy Backgrounds Decorative Masks, Gold Faceted Gems, Dimensionals

Now it's your turn to create something using Dawn's sketch.  When finished upload it to the Try Stampin' on Tuesday blog, or to their Facebook page
