Love You More - Paper Craft Crew Challenge #409

Valentine's Day is nearing, and the challenge at the PCC challenge  #409 is an Inspiration One - Romance

Below is the card I made

I used an Oldie and a new stamp set to make this card and incorporated the colours red and black into the card.

The base is Basic Black card stock, layered with Poppy Parade, and then the black and white polka dot pattern of the True Love DSP.

A strip of Basic black card stock layered with Poppy Parade is angled across the middle.  On top of that is adhered a die cut of layered hearts, the hearts die cut from it are used elsewhere on the card. Also adhered to this strip is the sentiment "Love" adhered to its Basic Black shadow piece.  The words "You" and "More" are embossed with White embossing powder on black card stock, cut out and adhered next to the main sentiment.  Two small black hearts are also added to both ends.

Roses are the ultimate symbol of romance, so I just had to add them to the card. Above and below the strip are added two roses which were fussy cut from the True Love DSP, and coloured with Poppy Parade and Old Olive Stampin' blends. Some glimmer Crystal Effects was added to each flower and in the center some black prills. Dimensionals were used to adhere those romantic blooms to the card front.

To finish the card, a string of black and white hearts were added from the upper right to the bottom left of the card.

Supplies Used

Stamps: Forever & Always

Inks: Versa Mark, Stampin' Blends (Poppy Parade, Old Olive)

Papers:  Basic Black, True Love DSP, Poppy Parade, Red Foil

Accessories: Always Die, Be Mine Dies, White embossing powder, Dimensionals, Shimmer Crystal Effects, Non SU Prills (black)

A Valentine Lighted Shadow Box- another sneak peakmall

Those who know me know that I love to make shadow boxes, especially ones that light up, so guess what I made yesterday?

It's a 6 by 6" shadow box that has been sitting in my storage room for a year waiting for just this opportunity.

The DSP on the back is from the "Love you More" DSP, with a heart embellishment in the center. More about the embellishment at the end of the post.

You are probably wondering where I was able to find the rose petals that lie loose in the shadow box when everything in the stores is Christmas related. I went Thrift store hunting and there found a bouquet of pink and white roses, and later I found a small bouquet of red glitter roses in Dollarama hidden among the Poinsettias. I pulled some petals off the pink and white roses and peeled off some red petals.  There are a few small flowers that I threw into the mix.

The first thing I did was drill a small hole in the back of the frame covering - the hole going through the DSP as well  Through this hole I fed the string of lights which I glued to the inside edges of the frame.  I tried glue dots as I had success with them in the past, then  hot glue , but they did not stick, so I ended up using E600 glue and close pins to hold the lights in place until the glue set.  Success!

For the embellishment I die cut a heart from a thick card board that came with DSP.  This I covered with Love You More DSP, built a flower using the Flower building punch, added a butterfly fussy cut from the SAB Botanical Bliss DSP and final a sentiment from Animal Outing.  There is also a smaller Real Red flower I made using the Flower punch. I applied gold shimmer paint to the petals of the larger flower as well as the notched banner and around the outside edges of the heart.

The loose petals and flowers were added just before I closed the back of the frame.  The battery for the lights is taped to the back of the frame

Three roses made using the spiral flower die (retired) were added to the outside of the frame, as well as punched Garden Green stems.

Supplies Used:
Stamps Animal Outing
Inks:  Black Memento
Papers:  Real Red, Calypso Coral, Garden Green, Botanical Bliss DSP (SAB), Love you More DSP, Whisper White, card board.
Accessories:  6 by 6" shadow box frame, Heart framelit, Blower builder punch, Flower punch, Spiral flower die (retired), stem punch, string of battery operated clear lights. rose petals.

You Mean the World to Me - a Valentine card

This is another card I made with some remnants of the Stacked with Love DSP pack.  This time the colour scheme is black, white and gray, with a touch of red.

The base card is Basic Black, layered with Whisper White.

On this Whisper White, I attached eight 1" Basic Black squares, to which various patterns from the DSP  punched with the Petite Curly Label punch were added.  Some were glued to the cardstock, and some were attached with dimensionals.

Smoky Gray hearts were glued on top of the DSP  These units were decorated with small vintage buttons, clay buttons (coloured silver using the Silver ink pad), Black and white Baker's twine,  Itty Bitty Accents Epoxy stickers or rhinestones (coloured red with blendabilities).

The focal image is from the stamp set "Love You More".  It was embossed with black embossing powder.  This Whisper White cardstock upon which the image was embossed was matted with Basic Black cardstock.  Blendabilities were used to colour the heart red.  Some black and white Baker's twine was wrapped several times around the left end of this unit before attaching it to the left side of the card with dimensionals.

Love You More - Unscripted Sketches #236

That's quite the ice storm we had over the last several days.  Trees are down, roads are like skating rinks, and there's at least an inch of ice on top of my car.  We have been advised to stay in tonight because the temperature is expected to plummet causing flash freezing of what little did melt today.  As well, high winds will probably knock more tree limbs down.  Many are without power but we have been very fortunate and we have not had to use candles to see by and we have heat.

This card is for the challenge with Unscripted Sketches here

Sketch236
The base card stock of Baked Brown Sugar is layered with Whisper White card stock and then Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper.
The image was stamped on Whisper White card stock using Real Red ink.  Another image was stamped with Baked Brown Sugar and the wing section cut out and imposed onto the Real Red image.  Some red glitter was applied to the heart in the bird's beak. The edges of the image panel were sponged with Baked Brown Sugar.  Natural 5/8" Chevron ribbon was adhered to the left side of the image panel and a bow attached to the end.
A strip of the reverse side of the designer paper was adhered below the image panel and below that a smaller strip of red glimmer paper.

You Mean the World to Me - Unscripted Sketches 235

My Stampin' Up order arrived the other day, and in the box was the new Valentine's Day stamp sets.  So, of course I had to play with them, making a card using the sketch with Unscripted Sketches here

Sketch_235

The base cardstock is Real Red, layered with Whisper White and then a piece of Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper Stack. The latter did not extend all the way to the bottom of the card, and a strip of scallopped red glimmer paper was attached to the bottom.

I stamped the image using Soft Suede ink onto Whisper White card stock i.e. only the globe of the world (the rest was taped over). The white areas of the globe were coloured using a Pool Party marker.  Then I used the Owl Builder punch to punch out a small red glimmer heart and adhered it over the heart on the globe.  The image was die cut using the Circles Framelits and the edges of the circle sponged with Real Red ink.
I then covered over the globe portion of the stamp, and stamped the sentiment using Real Red ink onto Whisper White card stock.  This strip of cardstock was matted with Real Red cardstock and placed over the circle just beneath the world globe - using dimensionals.

Stamp: Love You More
Inks: Soft Suede, Real Red, Pool Party marker
Papers: Real Red, Whisper White, Red Glimmer paper, Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper stack
Accessories: Circles framelits, 1" circle punch, Owl Builder Punch, scallop edge punch, dimensionals
