Peaceful Reflection - Just for You - another catalogue sneak peak

This stamp set provided a bit of a challenge for me.  Sometimes it's not obvious how certain stamps of a set work together and this is one of those sets.

After experimenting with various combinations, I settled on this design.

The leaf and stem were stamped first using Old Olive ink, then I two step stamped the flower using Daffodil Delight first followed by Crushed Curry.

Below the flower I stamped three smaller leaves.and  the stem in the water was grounded by  a small eddy.

To add texture and dimension, I used the dot stamp from "Timeless Texture, and stamped "dots" around the plant using Balmy Blue ink (stamped off ).

The Labels framelit was used to die cut the image, and this was matted with green glimmer paper.

The sentiment, from "Root in Nature " was also die cut with the smallest to the label framelits and added to the die cut image with small dimensionals.  A double bow made using the 1/4" white organza ribbon was added at the bottom of the stem.

The base card is Old Olive, layered with Whisper White embossed with the Ruffles Texture Embossing folder. A 2" strip of Delightful Daisy DSP edged with green glimmer paper on both long sides was adhered towards the left of the card front.  A strip of1/4" white organza ribbon was also added.

The focal image was added to the card front using dimensionals.

A Bench Fold Barbeque card

I've made a Bench fold card before (sometimes this fold is referred to as a U-fold), but for other occasions.  Because the versatility of this card fold lends itself to decorating for almost any occasions I had previously used this fold to create a wedding card  here; a Christmas card here and even a Halloween card here

For today, I wanted to make a masculine BBQ card using the Apron Love and it's coordinating Apron Builder framelits.  Because I have used up the True Gentleman DSP I have used the Coffee Specialty DSP.

The base card is 4 1/4 by 11 3/4" piece of Crumb Cake card stock scored at 2, and 3 7/8" at each end and then folded in to form a bench.
I added DSP to each of these areas.
The feet for the BBQ were die cut using the smaller die of the Lots of labels framelits.

For the back wall, I mounted some rectangular pieces of silver foil on Basic Black card stock  and attached it to the wall.

For the BBQ cook top, I die cut some small foil circles and mounted them on a larger Basic Black circle and attached them to the table top.  I also added a foil "warming" tray and placed some utensils around it.

A coffee pot and mug were cut from the DSP leaving a 1/2" strip of DSP at the bottom of each.  The pot and mug were adhered to each of the burners by this extra piece of DSP.

Finally  I die cut an apron, added a pocked and some utensils, and the meat is ready to put on the burners.

Beautiful Bouquet with Retiring Colors

Another day and another card depicting some retiring colours part of Stampin' Up's colour revamp.  Today's colours:  Rose Red and Pink Pirouette and I also include Glimmer Paper and the Post Edge punch.  Always Artichoke was the topic yesterday and is included today as well.

The base card is Rose Red, layered with Whisper White then Pink Pirouette DSP embossed with the Sparkle embossing folder (returning).

In the middle is a strip of Rose Red card stock which has a strip of Iridescent glimmer paper punched with the ticket edge punch.

On a Lots of Label die cut, I built a bouquet of flowers die cut using the Beautiful Bouquet Framelits.  Some were die cut using Rose Red card stock; some with Pink Pirouette.  The Pink Pirouette flowers were sponged with Perfect Plum ink (also retiring) to give it some depth. All flowers had Clear Wink of Stella applied. The stem is Always Artichoke.

 At the base of the flowers I added a bow made with the 1/4" White Organza ribbon, and then added a tag with "Hello" stamped with Rose Red ink and a small rhinestone at the top.

I added a few fallen flowers at the bottom of the die cut label.  The focal image was then added to the card front with dimensionals.

Card topper Easel Motorcycle Card

This is a different type of Easel  that  sits on top of a card.  It is a modification of a circle easel card I posted earlier here          .

The Easel was made using one of the Lots of Labels framelit and die cutting it on a double folded piece of Whisper White card stock.  By placing the die slightly over the edge of the fold, you get two pieces joined in the middle.  One of the pieces is folded in half towards the inside.  This becomes the Easel.
The bottom, unfolded part, is adhered to a larger Lots of Labels framelit die cut in Basic Black.
A smaller label die cut in Whisper White was stamped with the Born to Ride stamp set, including he tire marks underneath the motorcycle. Before adhering it to the Easel, the edges are sponged with Basic Gray ink.
Adhesive is applied to the bottom folded half of the easel, and the art piece is applied to that.
Tip:  close easel and lay art piece on top  matching edges.

The card base is Basic Black layered with a retired DSP which was stamped with the "dirt" stamp in the lower part.  A strip of DSP, stamped with parallel tire tracks was added horizontally along the lower 1/4.

The easel is added to the center of this card and some Urban District embellishments added to both upper sides.

The card opens in a regular way with a sentiment inside.

Milk Carton halloween treat holder - Inspirational Challenge #91

The challenge this week at Inspirational Challenge is a colour one:  orange and green.  Of course those colours scream of Halloween, so I made a Milk Carton Halloween Treat holder - in green and orange.

• The milk carton was cut using a retired die, in Old Olive cardstock.
• A window was made in the front using the Lots of Labels framelits and covered with a piece of Window sheet.
• The carton was filled with skull candy and a small chocolate bat, and the top then closed with a clothes pin (also retired)
• The clothes pin hold in place a piece of Tangerine Tango pom pom (retired), and a bow made of  1/8" coral calypso organza ribbon (retired).  A glue dot was used to adhere this to the clothespin.
• The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny wishes and was punched using the Word Window punch.  The edges were sponged with Pumpkin Pie ink.
• An Tangerine Tango leaf was die cut using the Fall Fest framelits (retired).
• On the lower left is adhered a Mossy Meadow green enamel dot (Home for Christmas)

Acorn Thanksgiving Card

I loved Sandy Hancock's Acorn card so much, I CASED it - well not totally, but pretty close. I changed the colour of the base cardstock, and the patterns on the tops of the acorn.  Thanks Sandy for a wonderful card.  This will be a class card as well.

• This Crumb Cake cardstock card is a 4 by 11 top folded card.
• The front of the card was embossed with the Woodland embossing folder.  The raised images were lightly sponged with Soft Suede ink
• The acorn tops were stamped with Daffodil Delight (2), and Tangelo Twist (2) and punched with the Acorn Builder punch.
• The rest of the acorn was punched using the Kraft Corrugated Paper, and the tops were glued to them.  The sides of the corrugated paper were sponged with Soft Suede ink.
• A piece of "In the Woods" DSP was die cut using the larger Lots of Labels framelit.
• A frame was then made using two of the framelits and Crumb Cake cardstock.  The edges of this frame was sponged with Soft Suede ink.
• The DSP was adhered to the back of the frame, and the acorns adhered to the DSP at an angle, with one slightly over the other.
• The sentiment was stamped in Soft Suede ink and die cut using the Bitty Banners framelit.  It was attached to the DSP with dimensionals.

The other two acorns were made the same way and used to decorate the inside.

Thankful for You - Sketch Frenzy Friday

Now that my craft shows are slowing down a bit I am finding more time to participate in challenges.  Certainly I haven't done one with SFF for quite a while, but today I'm doing the sketch and making a card.

 

I made a Thanksgiving card that has a window in it and a frame around the window.

• The base card is Soft Suede, layered with first Whisper White cardstock and then Into the Woods DSP.  All layers were sponged with Soft Suede ink.
• On a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock, I stamped the bear from the stamp set "Thankful Forest Friends" using Early Espresso ink.
• After I attached the DSP and the Whisper White, I used an Oval framelit to create a window in the card. I used the size of the bear to determine which size of Oval framelit to use.
• The bear was also die cut with an Oval framelit, but using a bigger size than the window.
• I then adhered the bear to the window on the wrong side of the paper.
• To create the frame, I used Soft Suede and 2 sizes of Oval framelits and ran it through the Big Shot.  The edges of the frame were then sponged.
• A Neutrals button was threaded using a tiny sliver of  Early Espresso cardstock and attached to the lower frame with glue dots.
• The sentiment is from the same stamp set, but it was inked up with markers:  Early Espresso, Old Olive, Soft Suede, Cajun Craze.  It was die cut using the Lots of Labels framelits, the edges sponged, and then adhered to the card front.

The Wilderness Awaits - Card 2 - The Fox - a Window card

I just love this card set, but then Nature stamps have always appealed to me.
For the second card in this series, I decided to use the fox - plus I decided to make the card a little bit different.  By different I mean putting a window in the front of the card and seeing the fox through it.

• The base card is Crumb Cake cardstock, layered with Pretty Petals DSP stack
• After adhering the two layers together, I used the new Lots of Labels framelits to create a window in the middle of the card.
• To make the Basic Black frame, I used 2 sizes of the Lots of Labels, the one used to make the original window and the next larger one.
• At the bottom and top I placed strips of Basic Black card stock with the edging made using the smaller Lots of Labels framelit (the small end) and die cuting it all the way across the top edge.

• The image was coloured first with a Crumb Cake ink and aqua painter, and then Cajun Craze mainly with the blender pen.  I emphasized the eyes with a black marker.  It was stamped with Black Memento on Whisper White card stock.  The grass was coloured with Old Olive and Always Artichoke markers.
• The image was die cut with the same size Lots of Labels framelit as used to make the window, and a Basic Black frame was made around it in a manner similar to the front of the card.
• Using the stamp set "Teeny Tiny Wishes", the sentiment was stamped under the fox.
• To attach this image to the inside of the card, I used the front window as a guide.

Watercolor Wings - How to and a card

I had a lot of fun today making sample colours for the new stamp set "Watercolor Wings".  Going through this exercise reminded me of the SAB Lotus Blossom stamp set where 3 colours were used to stamp the flower.

First of all, I'm going to start with a card I made using this stamp set,

•  The basic cardstock is Tip Top Taupe layered with Whisper white cardstock.  Before adhering the Whisper white cardstock to the card base, a piece of 1" Tip Top Taupe dotted lace ribbon was attached.  A second piece of ribbon was ruffled using a needle and linen thread and attached on top of the first ribbon with glue dots.
• The image panel is Go Wild DSP  matted with Tip Top Taupe.
• The butterfly was stamped first with Tip Top Taupe (stamped off), then Tip Top Taupe (full strength), and finally Black Memento.  The body is Tip Top Taupe, as are the antennae.  Some white dots, using a white gel pen were applied to the black dots at the bottom.
• The butterfly was die cut using the new coordinating "Bold Butterfly Framelits.  A second butterfly in Tip Top Taupe was die cut and the two were adhered in the middle, so the wings can flap.

•  A piece of Whisper White cardstock was die cut using the new "Lots of Labels Framelits".  Before matting it with a Basic Black framelit, it was embossing using the Boho Chic embossing folder.  This unit was then adhered to the DSP panel near the top.
• Tip Top Taupe ink was used to stamp the sentiment from "Another Thank You".  It was punched using the small oval punch, layered with a 1 1/4" Tip Top Taupe circle and finally a Basic Black modern word label punchie.  It was adhered at the bottom of the image panel.

I have made my own colour samplers, some of which are the same as Patty's, but some are different.

Any colour combination can be used.  I actually went to Pinterest where I have a folder on butterflies, and they were useful in stimulating some of my colour choices.
