Summer Silhouette - Faux Tile Technique

Another day closer to the day when the new catalogue comes out.  The retirement list is getting smaller and smaller, but there are still some deals to be had.
I tried a new technique today - the faux tile technique- and I used a stamp set and its coordinating punch that are retiring.

I used Frenchie's video here as my guide in doing this technique.  It was very helpful.

The base card is Early Espresso, layered with a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock that had been scored using the Scoring tool and the diagonal scoring plate.

The 4 by 5 1/4" piece of Very Vanilla was placed on the diagonal scoring plate with the 4" side at the top.  Rub the piece of cardstock with a crumpled piece of aluminum foil.  This makes scoring easier.  The cardstock was scored from the left hand corner across to the other side (1 1/4" from the bottom), and again at 2" and across to the other side.
Then on the edge below the corner it was scored again at 2" and 4" (all the way across).

The piece of cardstock was then turned so that the 5 1/4" side was on the top, and it was scored at the corner, 2" and 4" .  Below the corners down the left side, it was also scored at 2 and 4".  Again, these scores went all the way across to the other side.

Do the same thing on a piece of printer paper, and cut out a template for the tiles.

Place the template over the scored piece of cardstock, matching the scored lines.  Start on the second row from the bottom, and with a sponge dauber and Crumb Cake ink, lightly ink the cardstock on the scored line making a light swiping motion (not a rotating one) starting from the bottom "V".  Return to the "V" and apply a little more ink to make it darker.

Do this for all the squares.

When done, apply Early Espresso ink to the stamp from "Summer Silhouettes" and stamp along the left hand side.

Attach a piece of neutral chevron ribbon across the middle, and adhere this piece to the Early Espresso base.  On a separate piece of cardstock, stamp "Just for You" from "Label Love"stamp set and punch it out with the Artisan Label punch. Adhere to the front of the card using dimensionals.

Both the stamp set "Label Love" and the Artisan Label punch are retiring the end of the month.

Scallop tag top card enclosure

I seem to be a bit late in trying this technique.  It seems it was first tried by Tanya Bell (Stampin T), an Australian demonstrator who made a video on this technique.  Here is the link to the video.  You'll find it quite easy to follow.
Here is my card.  Again, I tried to use the new in colours.

The stamp for the image was coloured with Mossy Meadow and Hello Honey markers and die cut using the apothecary accents framelits.

Stamps: Embellished Events, Label Love
Inks: Mossy Meadow, SU Markers (Mossy Meadow, Hello Honey)
Papers: Mossy Meadow, Whisper White, Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack
Accessories: Scallop tag topper punch, Artisan Label punch, Gold Baker's twine, dimensionals

Backyard Basics Birthday - Technostamper 291

I'm finally finished with my Christmas cards, so now its time to start on some Birthday cards.  I have some birthdays coming in the New Year so I might as well get ahead of myself.
I used the sketch challenge with Technostamper here to design my card.

The base card is Wisteria Wonder, layered with Whisper White card stock embossed with Stylish Stripes embossing folder. A strip of designer paper was adhered to the left side of the embossed layer and a piece of ruffled Wisteria Wonder ribbon attached over the seam.
The focal image is coloured with SU markers and die cut using the Backyard Basics Framelit.  It was then attached to the embossed card stock using glue.  The sentiment is stamped with Elegant Eggplant  ink and punched with the  Label Bracket punch and adhered below the focal image.
I put some dazzling details in the middle of the flowers and rhinestones on the top and bottom of the sentiment.

Stamps: Backyard Basics, Label Love
Inks: Black Stazon, Elegant Eggplant, SU markers (Wisteria Wonder, Elegant Eggplant, Always Artichoke, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight)
Papers: Wisteria Wonder, Whisper White, Afternoon Picnic designer paper.
Accessories: Wisteria Wonder ruffled ribbon, dazzling details, rhinestones, Label bracket punch, Stylish stripes embossing folder

Mr & Mrs Wedding card and Coordinating Gift Bag

As I mentioned earlier, my nephew is getting married this Saturday.  Last week I made a mini album for them using designer paper that was very close to what was on their wedding invitation.
Today I made a coordinating gift bag and wedding card- using some of the new clay on both items.

The Gift Bag:

The bag is a Kraft bag.  I put some of the designer paper at the bottom, then a strip of black card stock at the top end.  A piece of white taffeta ribbon was adhered to this black strip, and a bow adhered to it.

I embossed the bride image from the Best of Brides and Babies using silver embossing powder.  This piece of Whisper White was matted with Basic Black card stock, then Whisper White, and then the coordinating designer paper.
On either side I place a large white daisy.  In the center of the daisy I placed a 1 1/4" scallop circle.  With the scissors I snipped between every second scallop and then placed the finished scallop unside down on top of the tombo lid to make it look more like a flower.  The clay flower was coloured using a dauber and Pool Party ink and adhered to the black scallop flower with tombo glue.  The rest of the flower was completed and adhered to the bag using tombo glue.

The tag was made using the Labels framelits.

The Wedding Card:

This is the coordinating wedding card.  I use Basic Black card stock layered with Whisper White which has been embossed with the new Beautifully Baroque folder.
I then die cut 2 hearts using Whisper White card stock, and adhered them to a piece of coordinating designer paper.  At the top left corner are 3 clay flowers, with white leaves punched using the Bird Building punch
The sentiment is from the Label Love stamp set and was punched using the Artisan Label punch

I hope my nephew and his new wife will like everything that I have made.
