Congrats - From Land to Sea Try Stampin on Tuesday #276

The hot spell has finally broken and it looks like there might be some rain (at last).  But looking forward to the long weekend, the weather is going to be perfect for my craft show at Stoney Lake.

The card for the sketch challenge at Try Stampin' on Tuesday has a definite nautical feel.  I use the stamp set "From Land to Sea" and I feature the turtle.

  • The background of the art piece was created by sponging 3 colours on a piece of Whisper White paper. - Night of Navy, Dapper Denim, Marina Mist.  After cutting it to size, the edges were sponged with Night of Navy.
  • The image needed some sea grass, so I used the meadow grass from "In the Meadow" and stamped it in the lower left.
  • One turtle was coloured, cut out and set aside.  But because I like to use the rule of "3's" I stamped two other turtles in the background.  I wanted to make it look like they were in the distance, so I stamped off twice before stamping on the art piece.  Look carefully and you will see them.  Perhaps in the close up below they can be seen better.
  •

The single turtle was coloured with a blender pen and ink pads, cut out, the edges sponged, and then adhered to the art piece using tombo glue.

Versa mark was applied to the entire art piece and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.

It was matted with Old Olive cardstock, and this unit was attached to the card front using dimensionals.

The card base is Dapper Denim, layered with Whisper White embossed with perfectly polka dot embossing folder.  On top of that is Marina Mist embossed with Gently Falling embossing folder.

The sentiment is from "Happy Happenings".

    Supplies Used:
Stamps: From Land to Sea, Happy happenings, In the Meadow
Inks: Night of Navy, Dapper Denim, Marina Mist, Black Memento, Turtle: Soft Suede, Crushed Currie, Always Artichoke
Papers: Dapper Denim, Whisper White, Old Olive, Marina Mist
Accessories: Linen Thread, Triple Punch, clear embossing powder, Polka dot embossing folder, Gently falling embossing folder, dimensionals, glue dots.

Life Begins in the Garden - Try Stampin' on Tuesday #265

As well as a sketch challenge with Try Stampin' on Tuesday, there was an optional theme to include: " spring is here."
What better place to celebrate Spring then in the garden, which by the way I am itching to get into.

To better suit my image, I turned the sketch on its side.

The base card is Old Olive, layered with Whisper White.  In the upper left hand corner, I stamped the image of the sun from "Kinda Eclectic"  Then I built the rest of the card.

The image of the little girl gardening was stamped with Black Memento, and coloured with copic markers.  Some Marina Mist was sponged lightly on the sky, after which I stamped some insects from "In the Meadow"

Two 2 3/4" circles were die cut using the Circles framlets.  The DSP are both from Pretty Petals DSP.  They were attached and layered as indicated in the sketch.

The image was then adhered to part of the circles using dimensionals.

A 1/2 by 3 3/4" strip of Night of Navy was placed at right angles to the image.  The sentiment was embossed with white embossing powder.

Supplies Used:
Stamps: An All Night Media stamp, Kinda Eclectic, In the Meadow
Inks: Black Memento, copic markers, Marina Mist, Daffodil Delight, Versa Mark
Accessories: White Embossing Powder, Circles Framelits, dimensionals, Wink of Stella clear glitter

Wild About Flowers - Celebrate Spring - The Paper Players #287

It may be spring on the calendar, but its not spring outside.  I was out earlier and it was already precipitating a combination of rain/snow - and the next few days are about to be quite miserable!!

The challenge with The Paper Players   this week is a clean and simple card celebrating spring.

Every day I go to the edge of the yard and peruse the flower bed for evidence of plant growth, but so far there is little.
So stamping a flower will just have to do.
I stamped a flower using the stamp set "Wild About Flowers" - the stem in Pear Pizzazz, and the flowers in Hello Honey with Blackberry Bliss in the center.

Supplies:
Stamps: Wild About Flowers, Suite Sayings, In the Meadow, Timeless Textures
Inks: Pear Pizzazz, Hello Honey, Blackberry Bliss marker, Black Memento ink, Hello Honey marker
Papers: Hello Honey, Whisper white, Pear Pizzazz
Accessories: Retired 1/8" green/white ribbon, Trio Corner punch, blender pen, 1/4" Pear Pizzazz ribbon, dimensionals.

A Spring Lever Card - SUO Challenges #144

This is my first attempt at a Lever Card, and I will admit it was not easy.  I used the tutorial with Splitcoaststampers and I found that very helpful.

The challenge with SUO this week is "Welcome Spring"   and what is more of a harbinger of spring than a Robin.  So, I made the colouring of the bird from Honeycomb Happiness into that of a Robin and used several other SAB stamp sets to make a spring card.

Supplies Used:
Stamps: Honeycomb Happiness, In the Meadow, Perfect Pairing
Inks: Black Memento, Old Olive, Soft Suede, Tangelo Twist, Hello Honey, Markers: Blackberry Bliss, Old Olive), Marina Mist
Papers: Calypso Coral, Pretty Petals DSP, Whisper White, Old Olive
Accessories: Curvy Corner Trio Punch, dimensionals, Stamp-a-ma-jig

In the Meadow - Pals Paper Arts #281

December has been so mild this year it has almost felt like spring.  However, the weather forecaster has indicated winter weather is on the way.
Nevertheless, the card I made, a sneak peak from the new Occasiions catalogue, is decidedly springlike. I used the sketch challenge with Pals Paper Arts
