A Spring Lever Card - SUO Challenges #144

This is my first attempt at a Lever Card, and I will admit it was not easy.  I used the tutorial with Splitcoaststampers and I found that very helpful.

The challenge with SUO this week is "Welcome Spring"   and what is more of a harbinger of spring than a Robin.  So, I made the colouring of the bird from Honeycomb Happiness into that of a Robin and used several other SAB stamp sets to make a spring card.

Paper Piecing Class

Next week the class is on Paper Piecing and masking, and I am using a SAB stamp and a stamp from the new Occasions catalogue.  Both cards are partially cased from ones seen in the catalogue.  My thanks to Rambling Rose studios and Brian King.

I did not use a tutorial, but if you have never done this technique before, there is a good tutorial on Splitcoaststampers here

I decided to use the paper piecing technique using this stamp set as the majority of comments I have heard relate to the reluctance to colour the car.

Supplies:
Stamps: Beautiful Ride
Inks: Black Memento, Markers(Basic Gray, Real Red, Soft Suede, Real Red, Garden Green, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, Marina Mist), Soft Sky
Papers: Watermelon Wonder, Whisper White, Pretty Petals DSP
Accessories: 3 scalloped circles adhered to form an arc to form clouds in sky

The second card used Honeycomb Happiness (SAB) with its coordinating embellishments

Masking was used initially to stamp the birds and balloons, and then using paper piecing, Love Blossoms DSP was added over top each bird.
The honeycomb embellishment was adhered to each balloon.

Here's a view that's a bit closer.

Supplies:
Stamp: Honeycomb Happiness (SAB)
Inks: Black Memento, Markers(Basic Black, Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Gray)
Papers: Rose Red, Love Blossoms DSP, Whisper White,
Accessories: Curvy Corner Trio Punch, Honeycomb embellishments, dimensional.

You're so Sweet - a Valentine card for class

This will be one of the cards that will be made for the Valentine Day class at the end of this month
I used one of the SAB stamp sets (Honeycomb Happiness), and one of the Occasion stamp sets (Bear Hugs).

  • The base cardstock is Real Red layered with Happy Heart embossing folder.
  • On the left side a strip of Pretty Petals DSP stack was attached and a piece of Real Red ribbon adhered to the seam.
  • The image, from the stamp set " was stamped with Black Memento on Whisper White, and coloured with ink pads and an aqua painter.  Markers were used to colour the beak and feet.
  • The sentiment from the same stamp set was stamped just below the image.
  • On a separate piece of Whisper white I stamped a heart from "Bear Hugs" and die cut it using the coordinating framelits.  A red glimmer paper heart was also die cut. The first heart was coloured with Real Red ink and an aquapainter,
  • The image panel was adhered to the front of the card, after which the stamped heart was placed in the right "arm" of the chick, with the glimmer heart above.  A smaller heart punched with the small heart punch was added above that.
Supplies Used:
Stamps: Honeycomb Happiness, Bear Hugs
Inks: Black Memento, So Saffron, Daffodil Delight, Hello Honey, Tangelo twist marker, Real Red
Papers: Real Red, Whisper White, Pretty Petals DSP, Red Glimmer Paper.

Happy Birthday Little Chick - a CASE from the SAB catalogue

Another sneak peak from the contents of the SAB catalogue.  This time I Cased a picture (well, almost Cased) from the catalogue itself, and used 2 of the stamp sets.

The basic card is a sidefold A2 card (in the catalogue the card is a top fold) in Bermuda Bay cardstock.
On a piece of Whisper White cardstock, the image of the chick, holding a balloon was stamped using the "Honeycomb Happiness" stamp set.  The image stamped in Real Red is from" Perfect Pairing".  The "to you" in Black Memento underneath the main sentiment is from the same stamp set.

The images were coloured with ink pads and Aqua brushes.  The chick in Daffodil Delight and shaded with a bit of Hello Honey with the beak and feet in Pumpkin Pie.  Bermuda Bay was used to colour the balloon and the bow underneath it.  Then I added a new product from the upcoming Occasions catalogue - the clear Wink of Stella glitter brush- to the balloon.

A red heart, punched with the small heart punch was placed above the chick, and a rhinestone placed in the middle of it.

Some more rhinestones were adhered to the top left as well.

The image panel was adhered to the Bermuda Bay card front and underneath this was attached a piece of Bermuda Bay DSP.  Then some thick Bermuda Bay Baker's twine was wrapped around the card and tied into a bow right at the seam.  To do this I made a slit in the fold of the card with a craft knife where I wanted the twine to go through. The twine was pulled through the slit, around the inside and back to the front and tied into a bow.

Supplies Used:
Stamps: Honeycomb Happiness, Perfect Pairings
Inks: Black Memento, Daffodil Delight, Hello Honey, Pumpkin Pie, Bermuda Bay, Real Red
Papers: Bermuda Bay, Whisper White, Real Red, Bermuda Bay DSP
Accessories: Aquapainter, Thick Bermuda Bay Baker's twine, Small heart punch, rhinestones, Wink of Stella (clear) glitter brush
