Santa Claus is Coming to Town - Sweet Stampin' Challenge

I can't believe I'm making a Christmas card on Christmas Day, but I had some time between putting the turkey in the oven and putting on the vegetables.  Since I have already mailed my cards, this card, and the next one will be saved and used next year.

The Sweet Stampin' Challenge this week is about Santa Claus - specifically "Santa Claus is Coming to Town".

The stamp I used was particularly popular at my craft shows.

Art Piece
Santa was stamped on Whisper White card stock using Black Memento ink and coloured with Copic Markers.  Dazzling diamonds was added to the beard, hat and eye brows and cherry cobbler dazzling details on the berries on his hat.
The image was die cut using the classic labels framelits, and matted with a larger Real Red framelit
The unit was added to the card front using dimensionals.

Card:
The base of this 5 by 5" card is Real Red card stock layered with Whisper White cardstock, and then some red striped vellum
A red stitched edged ribbon is adhered about 2/3 of the way down and the art piece adhered over this ribbon - slightly off center.
The sentiment is adhered on the right side; a bit of ribbon tied in a know on the left.

Supplies Used:
Stamps: Santa (Frog's Whiskers", Greetings from Santa
Inks: Black Memento, Copic Markers
Papers: Real Red, Whisper White, Red striped vellum
Accessories: 3/4" Real Red stitched edge ribbon, Classic Labels Framelits, Dazzling diamonds, Cherry Cobbler dazzling details, dimensionals.

Creating DSP

Tonight was to have been my last card making class, and the topic was "tags".  However, I was under the weather and had to cancel.
In preparation for this class, I made some DSP which was to be the backdrop for the tags. This was a really fun project.
This is the paper that I made:

I used the stamp set "Greetings from Santa", using the following colours to randomly stamp images all over the Whisper White card stock - Old Olive, Cherry Cobbler, Soft Suede,  Daffodil Delight and Black Memento.
If I have time before my show on Sunday I will make some tags using my own DSP.

Snow Place Light Card

I originally saw the Chibi lights used on a card on Pinterest and I was totally mesmerized.  But when I tried to buy them I found they were not available in Canada.  However, I did manage to track some down.
Anything electric intimidates me and creating a circuit to make this light work was very intimidating!!  However, I viewed this as a challenge!  So, I watched a few videos,  read the instructions in the kit, swallowed my fear and went to work.
This is what I came up with:

This is the card that was built up around the light.  If you look closely you can see a clear star at the top of the 3rd tree.  The light is behind the tree.
For the next card I will take a picture of the circuit I created using the contents of the Chibi lights kit, but I was so excited that the circuit actually worked that the thought never crossed my mind.  So stay tuned.

I turned the lights out so the Chibi light could be seen better.  The battery needs to be pressed to make the lights come on, so I put a sticker over that spot.  You can see my finger in the picture where the pressure needs to be placed.  Isn't that cool?
