Festival of Trees Merry Christmas - Fab Friday 70

It took me a while to figure out what to do with the sketch with Fab Friday.  I knew I wanted to made a Christmas card, but I don't have too many of the new ones yet.  Then I thought of the Festival of Trees stamp, and the rest is this card.

  • The base card is Old Olive, layered with Whisper white cardstock followed by Into the Woods DSP.
  • On to a smaller piece of Whisper White cardstock, the image of one of the trees from the Festival of Trees stamp set was stamped repeatedly to mimic a forest.  The trees in the back were stamped off before stamping to make them appear farther away .  As the trees became closer to the front, the darker the trees became.
  • Some dazzling diamonds was applied to the trees.
  • Two 1/4" strips of cardstock, one Always Artichoke, and one Old Olive, were applied to the card front 3/4 of the way down.
  • Instead of a button for an embellishment I stamped the image of the pine branch and cone from the stamp set "Lovely as a Tree" and punched it out with a 3/4" circle punch.  This was layered with a 1" circle of Always Artichoke.
  • The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny wishes.
  • The edges of all papers were sponged with Always Artichoke ink.

Festival of Trees Shaker Card - a CASE

This is a case from a card I saw on Pinterest which was originally posted on Stampin' Connection.  I haven't made a shaker card for a while so it was a lot of trial and error, but I finally got it.

After embossing a piece of Whisper White cardstock using the On Point folder, I used a circle framelit to die cut a circle in the upper middle of the paper.
I made a larger circle for the image, which was in Whisper White. One tree was stamped using Garden Green ink before  the sky was created using Marina Mist and Pacific Point. Dazzling diamonds created snow on the ground.
On a separate piece of Whisper White cardstock, another tree was stamped and punched out using the coordinating tree punch.  This tree was attached slightly lower and overlapping the other tree.
I used 1/4" framing tape to build up the shaker, placed some stars (punchies from star border punch) in the middle, and attached a piece of window sheet on top.  The shaker unit was inserted in the "hole" in the front piece and a ring of dazzling diamond glimmer paper was glued to the top.

Stamps: Festival of Trees, Wondrous Wreath
Inks: Garden Green, Marina Mist, Pacific Point, White Acrylic Paint (non SU) for the snow
Papers: Garden Green, Whisper white, Dazzling diamonds glimmer paper
Accessories: On Point folder, Circles framelit, Window sheet, Small star punch, Tree punch, 1/4" framing tape (non SU)

Festival of Trees

I'm taking a break from Halloween and Thanksgiving cards and gifts to focus on Christmas a little bit.  My next craft show is Thanksgiving weekend, and I'm feeling the crunch.

When I saw the Festival of Trees stamp set with its coordinating Tree Punch in the Holiday catalogue, I must admit I wasn't too thrilled!  So, I did not order it.  But the stamp set grew on me, and finally I broke down and ordered it.  I'm glad I did, because I now quite like it.

I also used the Filigree embossing folder for the first time - and it's so elegant!

I started out by embossing the Whisper White card stock, and using Sky Blue ink, stamped snow in the middle of it.
In the meantime I was stamping the trees using Old Olive ink, punching them out with the Tree Punch.  The poor trees just needed to stand in a bucket, so I stamped them with Chocolate Chip ink and hand cut them, then attachied them to the trunk of the tree with glue dots.

Next came the cardinals.  I could have made them Blue Jays, but in my mind's eye I saw Cardinals.  So I stamped 3 with Real Red ink and hand cut them - a bit tedious but well worth it.  Before cutting thems out I touched them up with a Cherry Cobbler marker go give the birds some dimension.

Seeing it was snowing in the background, there had to be snow on the trees, so I applied some dazzling diamonds to each tree.

Now I attached the trees to the embossed whisper white layer using dimensionals, staggering them so they weren't in a straight line.  The birds were attached with glue dots.

Finally the sentiment.  It is from More Merry Messages, and I die cut it using Itty Bitty Framelits, curled it up and attached it to the bottom using glue dots.

Inks: Soft Sky, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip, Real Red, Cherry Cobbler marker
