Good morning Magnolia on a Step Panel card

 Along with the 5 in-colours mentioned in yesterday’s post, the Good Morning Magnolia stamp set and dies are also retiring.

Using one of the retiring colours, Purple Posy, I made a Pop-up card featuring this beautiful flower. Last year I visited my sister in Vancouver and visited a secluded garden with many Magnolia trees. The flowers on each tree were different colours and oh they were so beautiful!

I’m not good enough to emulate Nature but I tried  my best.

Using both the light and dare shades of Purple Posy I coloured the flower.  Daffodil Delight was used for the middle of the flower and both shades of Mossy Meadow for the leaves. I also added a touch of Daffodil Delight the leaves. When finished, the flower was die cut and set aside while I made the pop up base

Card stock:

Purple Posy:

.start with 2 pieces of card stock , a 5 1/2 by 8 1/2" (back pop up) and a 3 3/4 by 4 1/4" piece (front pop up).

. On the 8 1/2" side of the 5 1/2 by 8 1/2" piece, score at 4 1/4, 5 1/4, 7 & 8"

. On the  3 3/4" side of the 3 3/4 by 4 1/4" piece, score at 2 3/4 & 3 3/4"

.Fold and burnish all folds

Basic White: 

5 1/4 by 4" 1 piece for the back pop up

3 1/2 by 2 1/2" 1 piece for the front pop up

4 by 5 1/4" for the back of the card

4 1/4 by 4 1/4" for image and sentiment

DSP (Purple Posy DSP)

5 by 3 3/4" for back pop up

3 1/4 by 2 1/4" for front pop up (reverse pattern)

Hello Cupcake - City Crafter Challenge Week 446 Cupcakes

Cupcakes for a birthday are absolutely delicious, and provides the baker with a chance to be creative as well.

The central focus of today's card is cupcakes, actually a (singular) cupcake. It is made for the challenge with City Crafter Challenge Week 446 - cupcake(s) here

I use the SAB stamp "Hello Cupcake" as well as a retired stamp set "Sprinkles of Life".  I managed to find some retired DSP in my stash that had the colours I was looking for and the theme was right.

I also had some fun using a fold I have only done once before.  I don't have a name for it so I'm open to suggestions. I will put a tutorial on how to make the fold in the next day or so.

Card Base:

On a 5 1/2 by 4 1/4 Lovely Lipstick base, a 4 by 5 1/4" piece of Whisper White is adhered.  This layer has 2 triangular folds of DSP attached at the top and bottom.

The triangular pieces of DSP (Tasty Treats) started as 4 by 2 1/2'" which I scored 1/2" from the bottom, and then folded the two top corners down to the score line forming a triangle.  These triangles are adhered together.  The 1/2" strip is adhered to the underside of the 4 by 5 1/4" Whisper White piece before it is adhered to the Lovely Lipstick base.  Both triangular pieces are folded up and the folds burnished well.

Art Piece:

On a stitched Whisper White square, the base of the cupcake is stamped in Pool Party.  On a separate piece of Whisper White the top of the cupcake is stamped in Mango Melody, with Early Espresso sprinkles on the top - and fussy cut.  It is added to the base using dimensionals  This square is matted with a Crumb Cake scallop square, and this is adhered to a larger square of Lovely Lipstick card stock.

The sentiment is stamped in Lovely Lipstick and is adhered to the lower part of the art piece.  A bow comprising of a double strand of linen thread is added to the upper left.

This art piece is attached to the tip of the upper DSP triangle only.

Open the card and you see an  identical scallop crumb cake square and whisper White stitched square adhered to the inside.

Water Color Wings with Fancy Fold

Okay, the spoiler alert has been lifted and I can tell you the name of the retired colours and stamp sets - in this post anyway.
One of the retired colours - Soft Sky, so that means the Ink, DSP and card stock.
In a previous post I informed you about the retirement of the Water Color Wings stamp, the Bold Butterfly framelits and the Butterfly Thinlets.
This card features these retired colors

The base card is Soft Sky; the butterfly is stamped with Soft Sky ink, and layered with a Butterfly thinlet die cut with retiring Iridescent glimmer paper.

Here's how to make the fancy fold.

The Soft Sky DSP (size 4 by 5 1/2") is cut 2" on the 5 1/2" side about 1/2 way down.  The two ends are then folded in on themselves and creased well with a bone folder.

This folded DSP is adhered to the card stock back with the edge flush with the spine.

The sentiment is stamped onto the card stock about midway down and the layered butterfly was adhered at an angle at the angle of the fold.

No card is complete without embellishments, so I added another retired item - Tutti Fruittie adhesive backed sequins.

Fancy Fold with Perfect Blend

Another one of my favourite stamp sets is retiring - Perfect Blend.  So today I visualized a Fancy Fold card, but I'm not sure it turned out the way it should have.  I have no name for this fold card.

The base card is Pool Party Coordination cardstock made into an unnamed Fancy Fold card.

The image of the coffee cup was stamped in chocolate chip ink and cut out.  With an Aqua painter and ink pads (Chocolate chip and Pool Party) the shadows were coloured in.  The coffee holder was stamped separately on a piece of Pool Party coordination cardstock and embossed with the polka dots embossing folder.  This was cut out and adhered to the coffee cup, and the edges of the entire cup sponged with Chocolate Chip ink.

For some bling, some In Color sequins (also retiring) were added to the coffee holder.  A chocolate chip 1/4" bow was also attached.

The coffee cup was adhered to a piece of Whisper White cardstock which had been stamped with Crumb Cake and the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set (no, this is not retiring).  Below the cup and to the right,  tiny flower punched in Strawberry Slush DSP was added (this cardstock is retiring, as is the punch).  A sequin was placed in the middle of the flower.

The sentiment was stamped on the other panel, which also had Gorgeous Grunge stamped on the background.

On the smaller panel, a donut was made using first a 3/4" circle punch and then using a 1 1/4" circle punch around it.  The edges were sponged with Chocolate chip, tombo glue added liberally and the surface covered with real coffee!!
