A Coneflower Celebration - Just Add Ink #468

Just Add Ink has an alphabet challenge and this week it's the letter "C".  The idea  is to include anything that starts with the letter "C" in whatever I create.

For my project, the focus of my card is a flower known as a "Coneflower" with "Celebrate" as my sentiment. The coneflower was coloured, and the finished focal piece was adhered to a piece of Whisper White embossed with the Corrugated embossing folder .  This was added to a Crumb Cake card base.

The Coneflower focal image is from Frog's Whiskers Ink in Campbellford, Ont. and is coloured with water colour pencils and a blender pen.  It is die cut with a stitched rectangle die and matted first with Melon Mambo card stock and then with Crumb Cake.

Before matting it with the two card stocks, some heat and stick powder is used to add dazzling diamonds over the entire image.

The finished image with its two mats, is adhered to a Whisper White card front layer which has been embossed with the Corrugated Embossing Folder.  The card base is Crumb Cake card stock.

The sentiment "Celebrate You" is from Suite Sayings (retired) after matting with Melon Mambo is added to the lower image and card front - over the image using tombo glue, and on the card front with 2 dimensionals, one on top of the other.

The "C's" used on this card:
1.  Coneflowers
2.  Coloured with watercolour pencils
3.  Crumb Cake card stock
4.  Corrugated embossing folder
5.  "Celebrate You" sentiment

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Suite Sayings (R), Coneflowers (Frog's Whiskers)
Inks:  Black Memento, Watercolour pencils, Versa Mark
Papers:  Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Melon Mambo
Accessories:  Corrugated Embossing folder, Dimensionals, Heat and stick powder, Dazzling Diamonds, Glitter gems, Stitched Rectangle Dies

Rose Made with Balloon punch - a CASE

Anytime I learn of a different and unique way to use one of the punches I get excited.

Yesterday I learned how to made a rose using the new Balloon punch, thanks to a video made by Nicole Creations here

The rose was made by punching 17 balloons in Real Red card stock, sponging the edges with Real Red ink, and then shaping them with a bone folder.

The rose is built on a 1 1/2" punched circle of the same colour of card stock, and has 4 layers plus the specially shaped center piece.

Layer 1 - bottom - comprised of 6 shaped balloons
Layer 2 - 4 shaped balloons
Layer 3 - 3  balloons
Layer 4 - 2 balloons
Center

The 5 leaves were hand cut from a folded piece of Garden Green card stock embossed with the corrugated embossing folder.

After making this rose using the new Balloon punch I was curious to see if I could make a rose from the Balloon Boutique punch (the larger of the two balloons).  I was able to do so.  See the picture below.  It is made using Melon Mambo card stock.

Country Rose Wedding

Happy Easter Monday everyone. I hope you had some quality time spent with family and friends.

I had a friend spend Easter dinner with us and before dinner we had some time to 'play' in the craft room.  One of  the things we 'played' with was the Country Rose  embossing folder.  I am embarrassed to admit that I had not even opened the package, so tonight was experimenting time as well.

After embossing this folder the usual way, I began to use some techniques I had used on the Woodlands Embossing Folder.  One of these was applying Versa Mark directly onto the Folder (one the side with the Stampin' Up logo), adding Whisper White card stock, running it through the Big Shot, then adding gold embossing powder to the embossed piece.

The result was stunning!  So made this wedding card.....

 Close Up of Embossed Folder

Anything shiny is hard to photograph, and this card was no exception.

1 1/2" was trimmed off the bottom of the gold embossed piece,  and  some gold foil embossed with the corrugated embossing folder was adhered to the bottom until the front measured 5 ". This was layered onto a Whisper White layer and a gold rimmed Very Vanilla ribbon was added around the seam. The sentiment, stamped in Granite Gray ink, is from "Floral Phrases" and was die cut using the Stitched Framelits . It was adhered over the ribbon using dimensionals. This layer was added to a Crumb Cake top fold card base.

Supplies Used:
Stamp:  Floral Phrases
Ink:  Granite Gray, Versa Mark
Papers:  Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Gold Foil
Accessories:  Country Rose embossing folder, Gold embossing powder, Big Shot, Corrugated Embossing Folder, Gold Edged 3/8" Very Vanilla ribbon, Stitched Framelits, Dimensionals
