Happy Thanksgiving - Create with Connie & Mary

It's not the end of summer yet, but it sure feels like fall, especially in the evenings.  The leaves are starting to turn on the trees and they inspired me to make this fall card for the sketch challenge with CCM here

 

Technique:  The leaves were die cut using Very Vanilla card stock and the Autumn Accents die.  The maple leaf only was run through the paper crimper.  All leaves were then sponged with various colours.  The acorn was sponged and then crystal effects was applied to the bottom of the acorn.  They were attached together with dimensionals and attached to the card using dimensionals as well.

"Falling" for You - Red Hot Stampers Sketch Challenge #53

What a change in the weather!  The awful oppressive heat is gone and in its place is wonderful, breathable cool air.  Well, after all it is September, a wonderful month, with the leaves starting to change color already.
For my card with the sketch challenge with the Red Hot Stampers here   I decided to make a cluster of autumn leaves for my embellishment.

 

Technique: 
The card base is chocolate chip, followed by a layer of Very Vanilla card stock which was embossed with the Lacy Brocade folder and then lightly sponged with Chocolate chip ink.
The wavy line was die cut using the Tasteful trim die.

After die cutting the leaves with Very Vanilla cardstock and the Autumn Accents die, they were stamped with various autumn colors  They were then sponged with at least 3 colors, and then crumpled them up in a ball. Tthe resultant creases were lightly sponged with Soft Suede ink. In order to blend the colors the now colored leaves were lightly spritzed with water.  When dry, they were spritzed with gold smooch.

They were attached to each other and to the card using dimensionals.

Leaf Screen Alert - Challenge 189 Fall into Stamping LNS

This week, challenge 189, we are working on some Fall cards/ projects as that time of year is right around the corner. 
Yesterday I made a leaf tree, which will be the center piece of my craft table. 
Today's 3D item is a project I completed as part of my participation in Stampin' Fun and Friends.  Nancy Seed is the originator of the design.
Have you ever walked through a sliding screen door because you didn't see it?  Well I have, and although I can laugh about it in retrospect, it wasn't funny at the time. I knocked the entire screen door off its track!
To warn people that there is a sliding screen door present, I made a Leaf Screen alert approriate for fall, although they can be made in all shapes and sizes and colors for the other seasons.

Technique:
The leaves were die cut using Cherry cobbler, soft suede, Summer Starfruit card stock and  the         Autumn Accents die. They were then folded in half and placed at a 45 degree angle inside the woodgrain embossing folder and run through the big shot.  Each leaf was then sponged with Early Espresso ink, Cherry Cobbler, Riding Hood Red, and Gumball green.  Then each leaf were spritzed with water and allowed to dry, and then spritzed with gold smooch.  Crystal effects was put on the acorn.
To make the screen alert, you need to make 2 leaf units.
Each unit is made by hot gluing at least 2 leaves together in a pattern that is pleasing to you. Both sides don't have to be the same.
Place a square of velcro between the units.  Your screen alert is done.
To place on the screen, undo the velcro between the units, place one half on one side of the screen door, and the other half on the other side so that the pieces of velcro meet.  The velcro will hold the screen alert in place.  Now there is no excuse to walk through the screen door!
I have made others in the shapes of butterflies, and flowers.

Fall Leaves - Thank You & Embossed glitter ribbon

I was making an Autumn wreath and had some leaves left over - and I never like to throw things out.
So, I made a card, which was inspired by a card made by Selena Kempton over at Stamping 411.

Technique:
The Autumn Accents die was used to cut out some leaves in Summer Starfruit, Old Olive, and Soft Suede.
The leaves were folded in half and laid at right angles in the Woodgrain folder and embossed.  They were then sponged with Soft Suede, Riding Hood Red, Lucky Limeade and spritzed with water to blend the colors.  After they were dry, they were spritzed with gold smooch.  Two acorns were cut -one in Old Olive and one if Soft Suede.  The top of the soft suede one was cut off and glued to the Old Olive one.  After sponging with soft suede ink, Crystal effects was applied to the bottom half of the acorn.  When dry it too was spritzed with gold smooch.
While the leaves were drying I prepared the rest of the card.

The card base is Island Indigo, layered with Very Vanilla and then a layer of Early Espresso core'dination card stock embossed with the Woodgrain folder and sanded.
The designer paper is from Orchard Harvest.

Ribbon: The white Organza ribbon was first colored with a Crumb Cake marker, then covered with Versa Mark ink and sprinkled with Iridescent Ice embossing powder.  The ribbon was heat embossed very carefully as the ribbon will melt.  The ribbon did wrinkle a bit, but I just pulled it to straighten it out.
Sentiment: From Itty Bitty Banners and die cut with the coordinating framelits.

The leaves were layered and attached to each other and the card using dimensionals.

Falling Leaves - Try Stampin' on Tuesday #79

The weather is definitely cooler!  Can you feel Autumn in the air?  I thought I would take a break from making Christmas cards and make some Fall/Thanksgiving cards and to do this, I used the sketch challenge with Try Stampin' on Tuesday here
I have been fascinated by the Autumn Accents die and have been trying different things to give the leaves dimension and I think I succeeded.  But, I'm ahead of myself.
Here is the card:

 

Technique:

After die cutting the leaves in different colors, I folded them in half and laid them at an angle in the woodgrain folder.  The edges were sponged with Early Espresso, and then the leaves were spritzed with gold smooch.  The acorn was made by cutting the top off a Soft Suede one, embossing it with the Square lattice folder, and then attaching it to the top of the Summer starfruit acorn.  I learned this technique from Frances Martin (Frenchie).  The leaves and acorn was attached to a 2 1/2" circle using dimensionals.
