Haunt Ya Later - The Paper Players #315

What a beautiful day it was today!  The sun was shining and the temperature was in the mid twenties - unusual for October.
I've been having construction done on my house for the last 2 weeks, and today all but one task is completed.
Time now to take part in some challenges.
This card was made for the challenge with The Paper Players The theme this week was Halloween.

The Basic Black card base is layered first with Tangelo Twist, followed by Whisper White which has been embossed with the Woodlands embossing folder.

Before embossing, the folder was inked with Marina Mist and Night of Navy and then run through the Big Shot.  After embossing, the trees were lightly sponged with Crumb Cake and a black marker was used to highlight one side of the tree.

A Raven sitting on the tree limb and some others flying away  were stamped and drawn free hand with a Basic Black marker.

I love cats.  I have a black cat named Mishief - well named I must say.  So, when I saw  this stamp  with a cat wearing a crazy hat and holding a lantern by his tail I just had to use him for this challenge. The image was coloured with a blender pen and markers.  It was then die cut using the Circles Framelits and  matted  with a slightly larger scallop circle in Tangello Twist.  After the image was die cut, I stamped a spider web  in  the upper right and some bats in the upper left.  Both circle edges were sponged with Basic Gray ink.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:      Cat  with the hat (unknown), Wicked Cool (retired), Among the Branches (retired)
Inks:  Marina Mist, Night of Navy, Black Memento, Crumb Cake, Basic Black marker, Smoky Slate, Basic Gray, Pumpkin Pie, Tangello Twist, Always Artichoke
Papers:   Tangello Twist, Basic Black, Whisper White
Accessories:   Circle Framelits, Scallop Circle die, Woodlands embossing folder, dimensionals, Dazzling Details.

Haunt Ya Later - Inkspirational Challenge #94

The challenge this we at Inkspirational Challenge,  is a Halloween one.
To make this card I used the background of a card discarded by one of my students last night because she didn't like the way it turned out.  We were working with the Woodland Embossing Folder.
Sometimes one has to think outside the box.
When I saw this challenge I decided to finish the background for a Halloween card.

  • I first finished the background made using the Woodlands Embossing Folder.  The sky was darkened and I brayered the trees with Crumb Cake.  Then using an Early Espresso marker, I made shadows on one side of the trees.
  • Then I stamped a raven, some spooky eyes and some bats in the background. For these I used a combination of stamps:  "Among the Branches", & "Wicked Cool"
  • The image of the cat with the hat beside a pumpkin was coloured with copic markers and a bit of glitter applied.
  • The circle framelits was used to die cut the image, which was mounted on a Tangelo Twist scalloped die cut circle using dimensionals.
  • This was applied to the lower left corner.
Supplies Used:
Stamps: Halloween Cat (Stampinbella), Wicked Cool, Haunt Ya Later, Among the Branches
Inks: Night of Navy, Soft Suede, Memento, copic markers, crumb cake, Early Espresso marker
Papers: Basic Black, Tangelo Twist, Whisper White
Accessories: Woodland embossing folder, Big Shot, Brayer, Dazzling details, dimensionals, Circles framelits.

Peaceful Wreath - Joy - Try Stampin' on Tuesday #241

The challenge this week is not only a sketch one, but a theme one as well.  I was inspired to try the diagram, and to use the theme of "leaves".  Because our Thanksgiving is over, and most of the leaves have fallen off the trees, I thought I would focus on the leaves of Christmas.

  • I started with a base cardstock of Always Artichoke cardstock, layered with Crumb Cake cardstock embossed with the Fancy Fan embossing folder.
  • The image s from "Peaceful Wreath" and was embossed with gold embossing powder on Whisper White cardstock.  The berries were filled in the a Real Red marker, and then some Cherry Cobbler dazzling detail was applied to them.  A couple of pieces of string left over after fraying some Burlap ribbon were tied in a bow and added to the stem of the winter floral stem with a glue dot. This image piece of matted with Real Red cardstock.
  • Next to the main leaf image are two smaller pieces of cardstock.  For the top one I cut a small piece of Holly DSP from Home for Christmas DSP and matted it with Real Red cardstock.  Dazzling details was added to the berries.
  • Below it a piece of Real Red cardstock was stamped randomly with the tiny holly leaf from "Among the Branches".  Then I took the fine tipped glue pen, dabbed some glue randomly over this piece and added dazzling details.
  • The sentiment "JOY"  from "Holly Jolly Greetings" is stamped with Mossy Meadow on Whisper White. I also sponged the edges with Mossy Meadow.  This piece was added to a piece of Mossy Meadow cardstock.  I cut out some holly pieces from the DSP and added them above and below the sentiment.  Cherry Cobbler dazzliing details was used to create the berries.  The sentiment panel was added to the card front using dimensionals.
Supplies Used:
Stamps: Peaceful Wreath, Holly Jolly Greetings, Among the Branches
Inks: Mossy Meadow, Real Red markers, Cherry Cobbler
Papers: Always Artichoke, Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Home for Christmas DSP, Real Red cardstock, Mossy Meadow
Accessories: Versa Mark, Fancy Fan embossing folder, Burlap ribbon strings, Gold embossing powder, Dazzling diamonds,Fine Tipped glue pen, Cherry Cobbler dazzling details. dimensionals. glue dots.

Vintage Leaves Thankful

You'd never know by the weather that we are approaching fall.  The heat and humidity have been stifling and certainly does not put one in the mood to make Christmas cards let alone Thanksgiving or Halloween cards.  However, my craft shows are coming up so I'd better get cracking!!

had some coloured leaves left over from another project so I  made this Thanksgiving card.  I used the Woodlands Embossing Folder as a background and included an acorn and a feather.

  • The base cardstock is Chocolate Chip, layered with Very Vanilla cardstock embossed with the Woodlands Embossing Folder.  To make the birch trees stamp out a little better, I lightly sponged the surface with some chocolate chip ink.
  • Using the colours of autumn - Old Olive, Cajun Craze, Daffodil Delight, Real red, some leaves were randomly stamped between the trees.  These are from the stamp set: "Among the Leaves".
A barn owl and some black birds completed the scene.

At the bottom of this layer, a piece of  Into the Woods Designer paper was adhered.  I did sponge this lightly with Crumb Cake as the background of this paper was Whisper White.  That made the DSP fit in better with the colour scheme of the card. At the top of the DSP I added some gold glitter ribbon.

The leaves were built on a 1 3/8" chocolate chip circle using a hot glue gun. As I mentioned, these leaves and feathers were left over from another project.  The acorn was made using the Acorny Thank You stamp set with its coordinating punch.

The sentiment was stamped in chocolate chip ink and die cut using the bitty banners framelit.
