Mitten Die Penquins - Paper Craft Crew card sketch #270

These Penguins, made using the Merry Mittens Framelit/dies are so cute - and they're all over Pinterest so there's not even one person I can give credit to.  However, I have made some adaptations that are uniquely mine.

I made these Penguins for the sketch challenge with Paper Craft Crew Sketch Challenge

Play along with the Paper Craft Crew for Sketch Challenge 270. The challenge starts November 29th and ends December 5, 2017 at 1 PM EST. Visit the blog at www.papercraftcrew.com to check out the design team samples and to submit your project. #papercraftcrew #papercrafting #sketchchallenge #color #playalong #imakecards #cardmaker #diy #sendacard #craft #stampinup #cardchallenge #papercraft #bigshot #rainydayfun #designteam #becreative #artsandcrafts #hobby #snailmail #createeveryday #crafttherapy #creativelifehappylife #pcc2017

For the Large Penguin:

Die cut the following
  • 2 Basic Black mittens (framelits) body and wings)
  • 1 Whisper White mitten (belly)
  • 2 Pumpkin Pie flowers (Feet)
  • 1 Real Red pattern mitten (top half becomes hat)
  • 1 Dazzling Diamond glimmer paper mitten framelit (backing behind hat)
  • 1 Dazzling Diamond glimmer flower (pom pom)
  • 1 small strip of Dazzling diamond glimmer paper scalloped free hand for hat rim
In addition, punch the following:
  • 2 small Basic Black circles using the Cookie Cutter punch - eyes
  • 1 Pumpkin Pie leaf using Leaf Punch - one leaf becomes nose
Assembling the Penguin:
  1. Overlap and adhere the 2 Basic Black mittens with the thumbs facing down
  2. Cut the thumb off the Whisper White mitten and adhere over the overlapped Basic Black mittens.
  3. Cut off the top of the patterned Real Red Ribbon and place the Dazzling Diamond mitten behind it.  Trim to fit top of Penguin's head.  Adhere the Dazzling Diamond scallop trim and the Dazzling Diamond pom pom to the top of the hat.  Adhere the hat to the Penguin's head.

  1. 4. Add the eyes with a tiny bit of tombo glue.  When dry mark pupil of eye with a white gel pen.
  2. Snip one leaf off the Pumpkin Pie leaf punch.  Shape as desired.  Add to the face below the eyes.
  3. For the feet, cut 3 petals of the Pumpkin Pie flower and add to the bottom of the Penguin with glue dots.

For the small Penguins follow the same steps using the smaller mitten framelits.  For the hat I cut off the top of a Real Red mitten and punched a Pom Pom using the smallest circle punch I could find.  The eyes and nose were added using a Basic Black and Pumpkin Pie marker.  For the feet I used only one petal of the Pumpkin Pie flower.

The Penguins were added to the embossed Whisper White front with dimensionals. The card base is Basic Black card stock.

The sentiment is from the retired "Oh What Fun" stamp set.
