Double Pocket Card - a Tutorial

This is the card I promised you in my last post - a card using the squirrel from the Peaceful Place stamp set on.  My plan originally was to make a tag card, but along the way my card morphed into something totally different.

Instead of a tag card I made a double pocket card, a pocket for each of 2 tags .  I blame a conversation I had with my friend for this transformation.

 A tutorial to make  a double pocket card, is included in this post.

Below is the final card:

Note:

• Start with an 8 1/2 by 11" piece of double sided DSP.  Place the side you want to be on the front of the card facing up.
• Score each fold as you make it.

Here's how to make the double pocket card:

1,  Fold an 8 1/2 by 11 piece of double sided DSP (in this case "Share What You Love") in half vertically and open.  Then fold it horizontally and open.

2.  With scissors, cut on the left horizontal line to the center fold line.  I inserted the bone folder in the cut to visualize it better.

3.  Fold right bottom corner to the center.

4. Fold top left corner down approximately 2 3/4"

5. Fold top left quarter on the top of the top right quarter.

6.  Fold left bottom quarter underneath the bottom of the bottom right quarter.

7.  Fold bottom right corner up to meet middle horizontal fold.

8.  Fold bottom quarter onto the top quarter to finish the card.

Close all loose edges with tombo glue or double sided tape.

I punched three holes in the left upper side with the crop-o-dile, inserted a 1/4" Rich Razzelberry velvet ribbon through them and tied them in a knot.  Conversely eyelets or brads can be inserted through these holes.

Two tags were made to inset into the pockets and an embellishment was made for the front.

Embellishment:

The squirrel was stamped with Black Memento ink on Whisper White card stock and coloured with Watercolor pencils and a blender pen. I used Stampin Blends to touch up the colours.  The image was die cut with the layering circle framelits, adhering the image circle to the slightly larger Mossy Meadow scallop circle with dimensionals.  This in turn was adhered to the larger Berry Burst scallop circle and the unit was adhered to the card front.  Two leaves were punched with Berry Burst card stock and added above and below the image piece.

Tags:

Both tags start with 2 by 4" Whisper White card stock and the top punched with the scallop topper tag punch.  Chevron Old Olive ribbon is inserted through the tag aperture and tied with Old Olive linen thread (new in Occasions catalogue)

On the bottom I added a 2 by 1" piece of matching DSP with a 1/8" strip of Berry Burst card stock n the top edge.

Tag 1:

The entire front of the tag is stamped randomly with the Leaf stamp using Mossy Meadow ink.
On a separate piece of Whisper White card stock, using a Berry Burst marker,  I highlighted the sentiment "Thinking of You" from the larger sentiment. After trimming it so it would fit on the tag, I matted it the Berry Burst card stock and adhered it to the tag.

Tag 2:

This time I used a Mossy Meadow marker to highlight the images of the trees from the larger stamp  and stamping it onto the tag.  

I adhered a Mossy Meadow sprig punched with the Sprig Punch on the tag top.

Insert each tag into a pocket of the card.

Winter Woods Tree Tags

As I was making the card in the last post, I was already visualizing how gorgeous those Very Vanilla trees would look on a tag.
Here they are all 4 of them.

Each tag is 2 by 4" and the top punched with the Scallop tag topper punch.
On the body of the tag I adhere some "All is Bright" DSP and a 1/8" strip of gold foil at the top.

For each tag, I die cut 2 trees in Very Vanilla card stock using the "In the Woods" framelits - a large one and a smaller one with 3D branches.

Using a stylus I curled the 3D branches up a bit and applied Clear Wink of Stella along the edges as well as the edges of both trees.
The two trees were adhered together using the mini dimensionals, and then adhered to the tag front.

The sentiment, from "Holly Jolly Greetings" was gold embossed on a strip of Very Vanilla card stock, and after a banner was made at one end it  was adhered to the tag top just under the tree.

Linen thread tied around the 1/8" Real Red satin ribbon inserted through the tag top helped to keep it in place.  To carry the red color through to the rest of the tag, I added small red rhinestones randomly on the front of each tree.

Santa's Suit Christmas Tags

As I mentioned in a previous post, it took me a while to work with the Santa's Suit Bundle.  But once I got working with it I thoroughly enjoyed the process.  I felt like a kid again playing with the paper dolls fitting then with different clothes.  Remember those dolls??  I know, I'm aging myself!!

Today I used this bundle to make a set of Christmas tags.

The images of Santa reaching for his illusive clothes were stamped and coloured with Stampin' Blendabilites and then die cut.

They were adhered randomly on 6 different tags.  In each tag his clothes are elusively out of reach.

Each tag is  2 by 4" of Real Red card stock punched with the Angle tag topper punch.  The images were mounted on a 1 3/4 by 3" piece of Whisper White card stock.  Silver tag tinsel was added to each tag top.  Some dazzling diamonds was added to Santa's hair and the fur parts of clothing.

Hearts Come Home Bundle Tags

It's another warm fall day in southern Ontario - so warm that a winter coat is not needed.  Very unusual for this time year, but who am I to complain??

Spent the morning cleaning out my craft area as I'm having the carpet shampooed.  Got a call last night that the people shampooing the carpet are having a half price special as well as a no tax day.  Bonus!!

After I got everything cleaned up I felt in the mood to create something, so since I had the Hearts Come Home Bundle already out for class tonight I decided to make some tags.  They ended up looking totally different from the ornaments I made yesterday, but that's the beauty of this bundle.

I made 6 and packaged them in a tin for sale at my craft show on the weekend.

Each tag has a  2 by 4" Whisper White base punched with the scallop tag topper punch.

The 2 7/8 by 3" Night of Navy art piece has white embossed with images from the Hearts Come Home stamp set, and then a silhouette die cut from the coordinating edgelet die.  Some gold foil was placed behind the house to make it look like the lights were one and someone was -super easy - and no mess.

The sentiment "Merry" was cut from part of the sentiment from this stamp set.  I stamped it in Night of Navy and matted the Whisper White piece with gold foil.

At the top of the tag I added a bow made using the Bow Builder punch, and placed a gold faceted gem in the center of that.

Because I ran out of the silver tag twine I used the 1/2" crumpled Night of Navy ribbon instead.

Tags Using Merry Little Tags - a Case

I cased these tags featured in the Nov. 21 issue of Stampin' Success for my tag class this week.
The tags are made using the Merry Little Tag set, the Merry Little Christmas DSP and various punches and embellishments and dimensionals. All are stamped with Black Memento or Old Olive Ink, the holes punched with the 1/8" hand held punch with Jute twine inserted through the hole.

Tag 1: (No Peeking)

• 1/8" Real Red ribbon tied into a bow and added to tag with a glue dot.

Hearts Come Home Tag

In two weeks I will be doing my last class of the year - on tags and ornaments.

One of the tags that will be made is one made using the Hearts Come Home stamp set and coordinating framelits/edgelits "Hometown Greetings"

I started with a 3 by 2" of  Whisper White and die cut the top of the tag using the tag top die from the Hometown Greetings die set.  It has a little heart for a ribbon aperture.

On a 3 by 1 7/8" piece of Night of Navy card stock, I first white embossed the moon, Santa and sleigh and snowflakes in white.  Then I added a die cut of a house, snowman and trees and added it to the bottom.  Behind the house I added a small piece of gold foil, making it look like the windows are lit up.

The sentiment in the middle is only half the sentiment from the stamp set.  It is stamped in Night of Navy on Whisper White and matted with Gold Foil

At the top I added a Whisper White bow made using  the Bow Builder punch.  In the center of the bow is a gold faceted gem.

Some silver trim cord was inserted through the heart- shaped aperture.

Seasonal Chums Gift Tags

These are some Christmas gift tags I made using the Seasonal Chums Gift Tags (Snow man)

They were a lot of fun to make.  All I did was stamp them, colour them using markers and then using the coordinating framelits to die cut them.

Details of the front of the tag. I placed the Merry Christmas sentiment to the top of the tag.  All I have to do now is add a string.

Love all the detail on the back, especially the bird sitting on the hat band.

Santa Paws Gift Tags

The Santa Paws stamp set is truly a stamp set for animal lovers.  The "poodle" by itself if perfect for Christmas gift tags. Aren't they just the cutest?

These are the six tags I made.

Each  Basic Gray tag is punched with the Scallop Tag Topper punch and layered with Merry Music DSP.

Initially I placed one fussy cut dog on the tag but decided he looked too lonely so I fussy cut a companion, both of which I placed on an oval Red Glimmer paper "cushion"

The sentiment, also matted with Red Glimmer paper was placed at the top.

I coloured each dog with water colour pencils and an aqua painter, and the applied Dazzling Diamonds the "fluffy" parts.


All edges were sponged with Basic Gray ink.

1/4" Real Red ribbon (retired) was inserted through the tag top and tied with Mini Tinsel Trim (red) and a  glimmer bow (non SU) was adhered over the ribbon at the top.

Sleigh Ride Christmas Tags- Stampin' Royalty #357 & Just Add Ink #340

Rather than making cards using the November Paper Pumpkin kit, I made four Christmas tags instead. These I entered into the challenge at Just Add Ink as well as Stampin' Royalty

On a 2 1/2 by 4"  Whisper White tag the background of the night sky was made by embossing snowflakes using Whisper White embossing powder and then apply Dapper Denim ink with a Brayer.  Wiping the ink off revealed the white snowflakes.

Vellum cardstock was then adhered to the entire tag front, trimming off the excess.

The first layer of the sleight ride die cuts was adhered directly onto the vellum; the second layer was adhered to the first layer using dimensionals; the lower most layer, after applying dazzling diamonds to it, was adhered to the second layer with dimensionals.

Three white sequins were added to the sky as well as a bow make with gold/vanilla baker's twine.

The sentiment was stamped and punched with the small oval punch and adhered to the top right of the tag with one end extending over the edge of the tag.
                                                                                        
A small piece of silver glitter ribbon was tied around this Baker's twine; a glitter pool party  ribbon  bow adhered below that.

Tags made with Merry Tags Framelits

What a wonderful day I had today.  The weather is cooler, and I got to do some more work on stock for my craft show.

Today I made tags using the Merry Tags Framelits and the coordinating stamp set "Merriest Wishes"
I made a total of 16, and packaged them in a clear acetate box.

I used mainly 3 colours:  Real Red, Garden Green and Island Indigo.  Most of the tags were backed with Dazzling Diamond glimmer paper.

Some I even made into shaker tags.

The tags were placed in a see through acetate box and decorated.  A piece of DSP was wrapped around the box both ways, and a bow made using the new Real Red ribbon was placed on top. 

Tags in a Glassine Bag - a Catalogue Case

These 6 tags were CASED from page 69 of the Annual Catalogue, using the stamp set "Lots of Joy".  I decided to package them in a glassine bag, and made another tag to clothespin to the front - so its's 6 tags plus one.

Reindeer Gift Tags

I made a card with 2 of the reindeer (see previous post), and with the other 6 I made Charistmas tags.  The Tag Topper Punch was used to create the tags and various colours of cardstock were used:  Mossy Green, Crumb Cake, Cherry Cobbler, Pear Pizzazz and Very Vanilla. The  DSP used was Home for Christmas.  The tag strings were thick Cherry Cobbler Baker's twine.

• Each tag is 2 by 4"
• The glimmer paper stars were punched using the Itty Bitty punch.
• Sentiments were from:  Teeny Tiny Wishes, and Holly Jolly Greetings

Tomorrow I will make a special holder for these tags.  Stay tuned!

Tags in a Tin

I should clean out the craft room drawers more often.  Just before the last craft show I did just that and discovered 4 neat tins and I had an "ah ha" moment.  Tags in a tin!!! Perfect.
I had one small tin, 2 medium and 1 large, so I made tags that fit in those sizes of tins.

Here's tin #1

It's the largest of the 4 tins, so I made some large tags to put in them - using Frosty as the basis for the tags. Check out my blog here for how I made the tags.

I put the tags in a plastic bag to protect them.  A belly band keeps the tin closed.

This is the smallest of the tins, so I made 20 small tags , a sample of which decorated the outside of the tin.

The next 2 tins are the kind you buy in Michaels meant to put gift cards in.  I put Washi tape along the side of the lid to hide the pattern and decorated the top.

I had a few other tins that I have already sold.  My customers seemed to like the tags in a tin idea.
