A Birthday card using a layering Sunflower stencil and a SU die for Addicted to Stamps & More #465

I have not "played " with stencils very much, but thoroughly enjoyed creating a couple of cards using a layered Sunflower stencil for the challenge with Addicted to Stamps & More #465

I also used a die from the Darling Details bundle from Stampin' Up.

I was having so much fun I actually made 2 floral cards. The second 5 by 5" card will be posted at the end of this blog post.

Using the layered Sunflower stencil, I used blender brushes to create the 3 sunflowers on a piece of Basic White card stock. For the flower itself I used the following colours of ink:  Daffodil Delight, Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie and Soft Suede.  For the leaves: Pear Pizzazz and Old Olive.  Balmy Blue was added to the background as well as dots of Crumb Cake .

For the centers of the flowers I used dark brown prills.

The image piece was cut down to 4 5/8 by 3 1/2" and adhered to a lacy die cut that was 4 7/8 by 3 5/8".

Using dimensionals, this was adhered to a Basic White card base that had a 1 1/4" Balmy Blue DSP adhered to the middle with a 3/8" sparkly Balmy Blue ribbon down its center.

The sentiment, from "Peaceful Moments" was stamped using Soft Suede ink and adhered at an angle towards the right side.

To finish the card some wonderful gems were added randomly across the front.

Supplies Used:

Stamps:  Peaceful Moments, Sunflowers (Tim Holtz)

Inks:  Daffodil Delight Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie, Early Espresso, Pear Pizzazz, Old Olive, Balmy Blue , Crumb Cake

Papers:  Basic White, Balmy Blue, Balmy Blue DSP

Accessories:  Layering Sunflower stencil, Darling Details die, Early Espresso Prills, Dimensionals, Blender Brushes, Wonderful Gems, 3/8" Glittery Balmy Blue ribbon.

Here is the other card I made, this time using all three sizes of flowers.

Nature's Harvest- Color challenge for Hand Stamped Sentiments #415

I don't usually do color challenges as I'm not very good at them.  That doesn't mean that I don't try every once in a while.  This is one of those times where I try.

The colours of the challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments #415  were Mint Macaron, Pink Petals, Balmy Blue, Mango Melody. Below is my card:

The background was created using  blender brushes.  I punched a 1 1/4" circle mask to cover the sun while the other colours (Balmy Blue, Mango Melody, Petal Pink) were applied. I added Mango Melody to the sun after the mask was removed.  At the bottom Mint Macaron was applied with a blender brush, and then a background stamp from the Nature's Harvest stamp was used to stamp the same colour of ink. A 1/4" Mint Macaron ribbon was added along the bottom of the card.

Birds from "On The Horizon" stamp were stamped across the bottom of the sun.

The coneflower was stamped on a piece of Basic White card stock and coloured with Stampin Write markers as follows:  Petals - Petal Pink; Cone - Mango Melody; Stem/leaves - Mint Macaron.  It was then die cut. Two branches were die cut - one in Petal Pink; one in Mint Macaron.

The branches and flower were added as shown in the picture.  Dimensionals were  used for the flowers.

The sentiment, from "Peaceful Moments" was added below the ribbon and was used to hide the stems.  A bow made from the ribbon was added to the top of the sentiment.

Three self adhesive sequins were added randomly to the card front.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Nature's Harvest, Peaceful Moments, On the Horizon
Inks:  Black Memento, Balmy Blue, Mango Melody, Pink Petal, Mint Macaron
Papers:  Mint Macaron, Basic White, Pink Petal
Accessories:  Harvest Dies, Dimensionals, 1/4" Mint Macaron ribbon, Self adhesive sequin, blender brushes, 1 1/4" circle punch

Soft Spring ----Glass Beads on Art Piece

I wanted to apply a used dryer sheet on my art piece - but for once I had thrown them all out.  Isn't that usually the case!  Once you throw something that's been cluttering your space you find you need it.

So I looked around for a substitute, and notice a container of tiny, tiny sugar beads (0.6 to 0.8 mm). The sugar beads give the art piece a soft romantic look, or the look of a foggy spring morning (depending on the mood you're in)

Soft Spring is a double stamping photopolymer Hostess stamp set.  I opted not to use the double stamping option.  I like to colour, and Stampin' Blends were used here.

The images were stamped with Black Memento ink on a 2 7/8 by 5" piece of Whisper White card stock and coloured with Highland Heather, Gorgeous Grape and Granny Apple Green Stampin' Blends.  To high light the images, the Light Seaside Spray Stampin' Blend was used to colour around the images.

Using a piece of card board the size of a credit card, tombo glue was spread over the entire surface.  Sugar beads were then added and allowed to dry, after which a fixative was sprayed on.

0.6-08mm tiny iridescent fake sugar sprinkles/microbead half ounce/10grams clear glass miniature micro bead marbles nail caviar(China)

After matting this art piece with Gorgeous Grape card stock it was added to a Highland Heather card base the front of which was embossed with the Parisian Embossing Folder. The sentiment, from "Peaceful Moments", stamped with Gorgeous Grape ink, was added vertical to the art piece using dimensionals.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Soft Spring, Peaceful Moments
Inks Black Memento, Stampin' Blends (Highland Heather, Gorgeous Grape, Granny Apple Green, Seaside Spray), Gorgeous Grape
Accessories:  Parisian Embossing Folder, Sugar Beads (0.6 to 0.8 mm), dimensionals

Congratulations - Freshly Made Sketches #417

It's is important that accomplishments be recognized and rewarded so I like to l have some ready made cards on hand to reflect that.

This card was made using the sketch challenge at Freshly Made Sketches #417

Whenever we are proud of someone we usually say we are as "proud as a peacock", so I turned to the Royal Peacock stamp set with its coordinating dies. This set, from the Annual Catalogue, has some wonderful brightly coloured foil and Specialty DSP as part of the suite.

The card base is Thick Whisper White card stock layered with Old Olive Foil Specialty DSP

Three feathers were die cut using the feather die and one each of the three foil colours - Blueberry Bushel, Old Olive, and Pretty Peacock.  They were clustered together and tied with a  3/8" Old Olive/Peacock Reverse ribbon before being adhered to a piece of Whisper White card stock with glue dots.  This was matted with some Proud Peacock foil before being added to the far right edge of the card front.

The sentiment, stamped with Pretty Peacock ink on Whisper White, is matted with Blueberry Bushel foil and adhered to the middle of the card straddling the art piece using dimensionals.

Nobel Peacock rhinestones, rhinestones that are in the same colours as the foil and DSP,  are added to the sentiment piece and to the upper and lower art piece.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  Peaceful Moments, Noble Peacock
Inks:  Pretty Peacock
Papers:  Thick Whisper white, Noble Peacock Specialty DSP, Noble Peacock Foil, Whisper White
Accessories:  Noble Peacock Dies, 3/8" Old Olive/Peacock Reversible Ribbon, Noble Peacok rhinestones, glue dots, dimensionals

My Meadow Thanks - Try Stampin on Tuesday #439

It's hard to pick a favourite stamp set in Stampin' Up's new Mini Catalogue and "My Meadow" right now  is at the top.  This is the stamp set used to make the card for the sketch challenge at Try Stampin' on Tuesday #439 which has an optional theme of "thank you"

On a piece of Whisper White card stock, I used the various stamps from the "My Meadow" stamp set to create the above scene- an early spring morning in the meadow with some ground fog.

I started with the bridge, added a stream under it, and some grass on the banks, and then some trees on both sides of the banks.  Randomly stamped grass on the banks and around the tree bases provide some interest and texture. Tulips stamps on top of the grass add a bit of colour as do the blossoms on the trees. Some green is also stamped on the tree tops because it is Spring and leaves emerge after the blossoms fall off.

The bridge over the stream has as a gravel path leading up to it. Behind you can see a glimpse of a body of water. Early morning fog can be seen creeping over the landscape.

Some clouds, and birds finish the scene.

The art piece is matted with Early Espresso before being added to the card front with dimensionals.

The sentiment from Peaceful Moments, is stamped with Early Espresso on Whisper White, matted with Early Espresso card stock and mounted at the bottom of the art piece with dimensionals.

Two banners notched at one end are adhered to the Old Olive card base behind the lower art piece. One banner is Calypso coral card stock the same colour as the flowers, and a larger one is Early Espresso card stock.  A green gem is added to each notched end.

Supplies Used:
Stamps:  My Meadow Peaceful Moments
Inks:  Early Espresso, Balmy Blue, Mossy Meadow, Calypso Coral, Basic Gray
Papers:  Old Olive , Early Espresso, Calypso Coral, Whisper White
Accessories:  Dimensionals, Green gems (non SU)
