Best Wishes using “Happiness Abounds” for Beautiful Blossoms Challenge #16

 This card was made for the Anything Goes challenge at Beautiful Blossoms.  The flowers on the card are from the "Happiness Abounds" stamp set and its coordinating dies.

The flowers were stamped with Black Memento ink onto Basic White cardstock and coloured with Stampin' Blend markers. The flowers were coloured using Flirty Flamingo and Polished Pink SU Blends; the leaves with Granny Apple Green and Old Olive. They were die cut using the coordinating dies and added to the card front using dimensionals.

Black Prills were added to the center of the smallest flower.  3D Lacquer was applied to each flower. Blooming Pearl (pink) embellishments added to the front finished the card nicely.

The sentiment, stamped with Versa Mark on Basic Black card stock and embossed with white embossing powder.  Dimensionals were also used to adhere this to the card base.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            

The edge was die cut using one of the dies of this set.  The 3/8" glitter organza ribbon was coloured with the Flirty Flamingo marker to make it coordinate better with the theme of the card.

Eclectic Garden - Sending Best Wishes - TGIF Challenges #424

Artistic Ink Card #3 with Video

 This is the 3rd card of a 3 card series, along with a video tutorial) using the lovely Artistic Ink bundle and the Impressions in ink DSP. The 3 cards progress from simple to complex.  For each card the inside of the card is finished - each differently - and an envelope decorated - each differently.

The tutorial, including the video for the first card can be seen  here . It is a relatively simple card in that the design involves a single layer of  DSP along with a sentiment.

The tutorial for the second card, including the video, can be seen here.  The design of this card was stepped up a bit as it included the use of layering and a die as well as some embellishments.

Below is a picture of the 3rd card:

The card base is Pale Papaya layered with Basic white followed by some Impressions of Ink DSP.  After adhering the DSP to the Basic White layer, I adhered a 1/4 by 4 1/4" strip of Pale Papaya near the bottom. To this strip was added a piece of 1/4" metallic Flirty Flamingo ribbon.

On a separate piece of Basic White card stock I stamped the following:  2 small rose -like flowers in Polished Pink; 2 smaller rose bud like flowers in Polished Pink, 2 leaf pairs in Soft Succulent;  the 3 flowers in Pale Papaya and again in Fresh Freesia.  All of these were die cut using the Artistic dies.

Before adding the die cuts, the sentiment was stamped with Polished Pink on an oval punched with the Duo Oval punch.  This stamped oval was adhered to the Pale Papaya scalloped oval and then added to the card front across the ribbon using dimensionals.

These die cuts were arranged on the card front as depicted in the picture. To tie all the elements together, the 'dot' stamp was used to add Soft Succulent ink to the DSP around the die cuts.

Before adding the gold Expressions in Ink ephemera element, I used the sharp end of the Take Your Pick tool to etch veins in the leaves.

Finally, some embellishments from the Ephemera pack were added randomly to the card front, and a ribbon bow was added to the side of the sentiment .

I used the large stamp and Pale Papaya ink to create an image along one of the long sides of the Basic White card stock

To decorate the envelope I first added a strip of DSP to the flap and then I stamped floral images and leaves directly on to the flap.

Another Country Rose card for a friend

Okay, so I'm on a roll!! This card is made using one of the samples we made last night using the Country Floral embossing folder.  I am so excited with the possibilities of this embossing folder!

This time Soft Seafoam ink was applied directly to the Country Floral embossing folder before adding the Whisper White card stock into the folder, and then running it through the Big Shot.  I think both of us gasped at the result.

The embossed piece was adhered to a Whisper White layer.

Some 3/8" Pear Pizzazz shimmer ribbon was woven through the end apertures of the sentiment label and adhered to the lower  part of the two layers after which they were added to a Soft Sea Foam card front.  A ribbon bow was added to the left of the sentiment.

This can be done using any ink colour.

For You - Fab Friday #117

What a summer we're having - little sunshine and lots of rain.  Despite that my flowers are blooming.  This morning I noticed that my coneflowers were blooming. That got me thinking about the Daisy punch.  Could I use it to make a Coneflower?
Well I played and played with it and I found I could.
I incorporated this coneflower into the sketch challenge with Fab Friday #117 here

The Tranquil Tide card base is layered with Whisper White and  then Naturally Eclectic DSP.

Inside the 2 1/2" Whisper White circle I placed the coneflower I created using the Daisy punch, along with  2 leaves I cut freehand along the fold of Garden Green card stock. This was matted with a 2 1/2" circle punched in Tranquil Tide card stock.

How did I made the coneflower? And the leaves?

One Daisy was punched in Berry Burst card stock  This flower was cut in half, the petals sponged with Berry Burst ink and curled under with a bone folder.  The two halves were placed on top of each other alternating petals.  When the flower was complete it didn't look right, so I removed one of the petals and - walla- the coneflower was created.  When making the center of the coneflower,  I stamped the two flower centers from the Daisy Delight stamp set - the first using crumb cake, and the other on top of this using Calypso Coral. This was punched out with the 1/2" circle punch. But the center of the coneflower in my garden was fuller and more colorful, so out came my flower soft, something I have not used for a while. I chose the Heather mix and added a bit of yellow and after the glue was set this center was added to the top of the cone flower.

On a folded piece of Garden Green card stock, I cut 2 leaves on the fold, sponged the edges,and adhered them to the circle near the flower.

The focal circle was adhered to the card front using dimensionals; a second smaller circle contained the sentiment from "Best Wishes" was added just to the right below the larger circle.

A 1/8" strip of Tranquil Tide was placed on the lower part of the main circle, proceeding behind the smaller circle extending slightly beyond its other side.  On this circle I placed 3 Glimmer Enamel dots because no card is complete without glimmer.

Another, but different, drapery fold

Yesterday I posted a double drapery fold card featuring the Fresh Fruit DSP. While I was researching tutorials for that fold, I discovered that there were several different forms of what are referred to as drapery folds.
So today I made a card using a different drapery fold and featuring the Blooms and Bliss DSP. Below it is the drapery fold referred to as the double drapery fold. 

The base of oday's card is Sweet Sugarplum card stock. The folded DSP is adhered to that.  To make this version of the drapery fold I used a video by Tami White

Before adhering the completed fold to the card front, the sentiment was added.  It was stamped on Whisper White, die cut using the ovals framelits and layered with Blushing Bride

After adhering the drapery fold to the card front, a 1/2" strip of Blushing Bride was adhered to the top, and embellishments added.

Flowers from the stamp set "Blooms & Wishes" were stamped and cut out.  After sponging the edges, they were added to the top of the card using glue dots.

The sentiment was stamped with Black Memento, die cut with the layering ovals framelits and adhered to the lower card using dimensionals.  A row of rhinestones were added below the sentiment.

The Wilderness Awaits - duck - Card #4

I used the Circle Card Thinlet for the duck in this, the last card of "The Wilderness awaits" stamp set.  The duck just seemsed to fit in there so nicely.

• The circle thinlet card was die cut with Old Olive cardstock
• The two front pieces were Whisper White layered with Pretty Petals DSP stack.  They were replaced in the thinlet to notch out the edges for the circle.
• The duck, coloured with markers and an Aqua painter (with the sky sponged with Marina Mist) was die cut with the scallop circle that is part of the kit.  The edges of the circle were sponged with Soft Suede ink and each scallop was pierced with a paper piercer.
•  On the right edge of the card I placed 1/2 of a Burlap ribbon with its edge frayed

• Flip the circle over and the sentiment appears.  The scallop circle was die cut in Whisper White and the edges sponged. On a scrap piece of paper the sentiment (from Petite Pairs) was stamped  then punched with a small oval punch and layered onto an Old Olive modern word label punch.
• I placed a piece of Whisper White on the back of the card - for messages, and to hide the ribbon ends.

Magnificent Maple - Technostamper #272

 
 
A tree said to have inspired the song The Maple Leaf Forever was a victim of severe weather that hit southern Ontario.
The aged silver maple near downtown Toronto was among the many trees that came down as fierce winds moved through the region Friday night.
The tree stood in front of a house in the city’s Leslieville area.

A winter photo of the Toronto maple tree said to have inspired the song "The Maple Leaf Forever."

A plaque in front of the house says the tree’s falling leaves inspired Alexander Muir, the one-time principal of nearby Leslieville public school, to write The Maple Leaf Forever.
Muir wrote the song in 1867, the year of Confederation. He died in 1906.

It was so sad to hear of the loss of this wonderful old tree during a severe storm on Friday.  I made this card in tribute to this octegenarian using the sketch with Technostamper here to do so. Although the tree that inspired that wonderful song was a silver maple, I coloured the leaves as if they were from a sugar maple tree.

 

The base card is Chocolate chip card stock, layered with Pretty Print embossed Very Vanilla card stock.  I then adhered a large piece of Sweater Weather DSP on top of the embossed layer.

The two leaves were stamped using the rock and roll technique, using Crushed Curry and Cajun Craze inks.  They were then cut out and the edges sponged with Cajun Craze ink.
I die cut a circle in Very Vanilla using the circles framelits, sponged the edges with Cajun Craze, and adhered the leaves to the circle.  Three banners were mounted on the bottom - 2 in cajun craze, and 1 in Sweater Weather DSP (the other side of the DSP I used on the card).  This unit was then adhered to the DSP on the card.

Countryside Best Wishes - Mojo Monday #287

Happy April Fool's day.  Has anyone played any tricks on you today?

I just felt in the mood today to make a masculine card.  I really should be making Mother's Day cards, but my mood said masculine.  So, for the challenge with Mojo Monday here, I used the Countryside stamp set to make a masculine card for any occasion.  I just love this stamp set and have used it very often.

The base card is Crumb Cake, a colour I should use more often.  I layered it with Naturals Ivory which was embossed with the Polka dot folder.

Then I built the rest of the card by die cutting a large scallop circle in Old Olive, a large circle in Soft Suede, a long piece of Comfort Cafe DSP, and finally a piece of  DSP from the Print Poetry pack.  I rounded the corners of the latter piece.  The edges of all these pieces with the exception of the Green scallop circle were sponged with Soft Suede ink.

The image was stamped using Black Stazon ink onto Whisper White cardstock, and coloured using ink pads and an Aqua painter.  A 1 3/4" circle punch was used to cut the image out, and then it was matted with a 2" chocolate chip circle, and finally an Old Olive scallop circle.  The chocolate chip circle was adhered to the Old Olive scallop circle with dimensionals.  Before attaching this unit to the DSP, I cut a small banner in Soft suede, sponged the edges and attached  it to the card.  The unit was then attached near the bottom of the DSP panel near the bottom.

Three chocolate chip brads were inserted at the top left of the larger DSP panel.

The sentiment is from Petite Pairs and was punched out using the small oval punch.  It was stamped using Early Espresso ink on Crumb Cake card stock, and its edges were sponged like most of the papers on this card.

All the elements were then attached to the Natural Ivory layer as indicated by the sketch - starting with the large Scallop green circle.

The Open Sea Best Wishes - The Paper Players color challenge #117

Boy, did I struggle with this one!  It took me all day to finally get a card together using the colors of the challenge with The Paper Players (here):  Cajun Craze, Night of Navy, and Bravo Burgundy, plus Very Vanilla. This is the 3rd card and my 4th attempt.  Usually I have no problem, but even my son agreed that my earlier attempts were not up to my usual quality. Not wanting to quit, I finally came up with this card - triple layer stamping.

Best Wishes - In Wildness - Stampin' Queen's Challenge #40

I have been making a lot of masculine cards this week, and the card for the sketch challenge with Stampin' Queen's challenge #40 here is no exception.

Just a slight change from the sketch.  Seeing as my card is a masculine one I chose not to put a bow on it, but rather a piece of ribbon tied in a knot.
