Happy Birthday - a Confetti Card

This week in class the project is to make 2 Confetti cards.

This is one of them.  I use Balloon Base, Crazy About You, and the DSP from the spring catalogue "Birthday Bash"

Today's shaker cards have been modified to place the shaker elements in a pouch that makes the card much more mailable.

The base card is Coastal Cabana layered with DSP "Birthday Bash" DSP.

The pouch was then created using 2 pieces of Window sheet taped on 3 sides using Washi tape.  I used retired tape.  The top is left open to add the shaker elements.

Using the Confetti Hearts Border punch, I punched pieces of Tangello Twist, Coastal Cabana, and Always Artichoke.  I also added some Gold sequins pulled off the thread (I saved 3 of them to put on the outside of the card.  Once I was satified I had enough confetti, the top of the pouch was sealed with another piece of Washi tape.

A piece of  3/8" stitched Tangello Twist satin ribbon was adhered on the left side of the pouch, and a bow placed at the top.

The pouch was now adhered to the DSP using tombo glue.

On a piece of Whisper White paper, the image from ":Balloon Bash" was stamped using Coastal Cabana ink. This was die cut using the Circles Framelits.  Using Coastal Cabana cardstock and the Starburst Framelit, a slightly starburst framelit was die cut to act as the mat.  The two were adhered together.

 

On a scrap piece of paper, the "#happy birthday" was coloured with a Tangello Twist marker, stamped on the Whisper White paper, cut out and placed over the Coastal Cabana one using small dimensionals.  This art piece was then adhered to the see through confetti pouch with dimensionals.

The sentiment, from "Crazy About You" was stamped using Basic Black ink onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock, and die cut using the Banners framelit. The edges were sponged with Coastal Cabana ink.  It wasthen attached to the top of the pouch at the level of the ribbon, and at an angle.

The remaining 3 sequins were added randomly to the top of the finished card.

Thanks a Million - a Confetti Card for Try Stampin' on Tuesday #206

We had quite the snowfall today.  I didn't want to go out, but I had a student coming for a private lesson so I had to go out and shovel.  Then I called an elderly friend only to find that she was quite ill and had no groceries in the house.  So, out I went to the grocery store and then to her house.  I did not go inside as I didn't want to pick up her bug. 
The local roads were atrocious!  The plows had not been out - except to fill in my driveway of course, and where my friend lived no plowing had happened at all.  Thank goodness for snow tires.  I could pick out cars without snows on a mile away.  "Slip slidding away...."

Anyway, I digress.
I had time today to make a card for the sketch challenge with Try Stampin' on Tuesday here  I've been trying to use my SAB products, and this card was no exception.  I also made the card a confetti card (some people call it faux shaker).  The window sheet I used for this made it difficult to take the picture without some sort of glare.

 

I cut a piece of Irresistably Yours DSP (SAB) into  three 1 1/8 panels.  Each panel was coloured one of the SAB colours - Calypso Coral, Crushed Curry, and Coastal Cabana.  Then I added a 1 1/4" white Tulle ribbon around the middle.

In the center is the sentiment, embosssed in silver, behind the "shaker" element.  First I cut 2 pieces of Window Sheets 3 by 3", and adhered 3 sides together using Washi tape.  The one side was left open in order to add the confetti.

The confetti was made using the Star Border punch on a piece of Coastal Cabana, Crushed Curry, Calypso Coral, and some Dazzling diamonds glimmer paper. The resultant "confetti" was added between the window sheets and the open end sealed with Washi tape.

Then on a 3 by 3 piece of Whisper White cardstock, I embossed the sentiment with silver embossing powder.  I attached it to the bottom of the confetti sac.

This unit was attached to the card using dimensionals.

For embellishments, I punched 2 of each colour of cardstock using the flower punch from the Itty Bitty Accent pack.  They were attached with glue dots, as indicated in the picture.  Rhinestones were placed in the center.

Birthday Confetti Card - a CASE

This card I CASEd from Cindy Wilkinson here  I saw it on her blog this morning and I just loved it.

Some people, including Cindy, call this a faux shaker card, and I guess in some ways it is.  I call it a confetti card, because the window sheet pouch is filled with confetti (made by punching the Star border punch)

To make the card I started with a Tangerine Tango base layered with Birthday Bash DSP.

The confetti pouch is quite easy to make.  Take 2 pieces of  3 1/2 by 4 3/4" of window sheet and apply Washi tape on 3 sides of it.  To this pouch add confetti made by punching  pieces of Tangerine Tango, and Bermuda bay cardstock and punching them with the Star border punch.  For some bling I unstrung some gold sequins and added it to the mix (save 4 or 5 of them to decorate the outside of the card).  After the confetti has been added, seal the top with a piece of Washi tape.

Before attaching it to the card, I wrapped a piece of Calypso coral ribbon from the Best Year Ever Accessory pack (SAB) and tied it into a bow near the top.  The sentiment, stamped in Tangerine Tango and die cut with the banner framelit was added to the top with one edge slightly under the ribbon.  Dimensionals were used for this.

The sentiment was stamped using Bermuda Bay ink, and punched with the 2 1/2" circle punch, then layered with a piece of Bermuda Bay cardstock which had been die cut with the Starburst framelit. The two were adhered together with dimensionals, and added to the card with dimensionals as well.
The sentiment was stamped a second time with Tangerine Tango, and the banner "sentiment" was cut out and attached to the punched out one with two small pieces of dimensionals.

The confetti pouch was attached to the card with Vellum tape.  If you don't have any of that you can use glue dots.  Snail adhesive will show through the window sheet.

The last thing I did was take those extra sequins and add them several places on the front of the card.
