Warm Winter Wishes - Challenge 204 LNS

The challenge this week is to make a winter card featuring snowflakes.  I had just put all my Christmas stamps etc away, so I was in a bit of a quandry as to how to meet this challenge. But, I put my thinking cap on and came up with a card.
I went on a cleaning spree on New Year's day, putting all the Christmas decorations away, doing laundry, baking bread etc.  Now I'm exhausted, but my house is starting the New Year clean!  I haven't been outside for a couple of days because we've had so much snow, so there should have been a lot of inspiration there to make a card featuring snowflakes.  Too bad snowflakes melt when you bring them in the house or else I could have just scooped some up, put them on a card and called it a day - LOL.
The amount of snow we've had gave me an idea of making snowbanks and having trees emerging from them.  Some areas of the province have really been clobbered with snow - for example Montreal got a dumping of 45 cm in one snowfall!  I imagine the countryside outside the city looks very similar to this.

The snowbank effects were created using a combination of masking and sponging.

Stamps:  Lovely as a Tree, Winter Memories, Itty Bitties
Inks: Baja Breeze, Island Indigo, Always Artichoke
Papers: Baja Breeze, Whisper White, Island Indigo
Accessories: Ruffled Island Indigo ribbon, Snowflake die

Starting this week, your creations will be featured in a new spot - a blog especially for the LNS group.  Upload your creations here

Winter Memories - Create with Connie & Mary #223

For the next 3 days I will be at a craft show "The Hands of Man", so this may be my last post for a few days.  I will be taking pictures of the show and will be putting these on my blog later in the week.
This card is for the sketch challenge with CCMC 223 here

2012 Create Thursday-003

I must admit it felt awkward working with the paper at an angle, but I quite like the result.

Technique:
The Gumball Green base is layered with Very Vanilla card stock embossed with the Fancy Fan folder.  The designer paper was placed at an angle, and cherry cobbler seam blinding was attached to the Very Vanilla layer above the designer paper.
I really had to resist tempation to straighten the sentiment, but the sketch shows it at an angle, so at an angle it stayed.
Image:
The image was colored with markers and an Aqua painter.  The ribbon was stamped a second time, colored with a marker and then embossed with Iridescent Ice embossing powder.  It was then attached over top of the original ribbon with dimensionals.  See close up on second picture above.

Stamps: Winter Memories, Petite Pairs
Inks: Black Stazon, SU markers, Versa Mark, Cherry Cobbler
Papers: Gumball Green, Very Vanilla, Cherry Cobbler, Be of Good Cheer DSP
Accessories: Fancy Fan folder, Cherry Cobbler seam blinding, Iridescent Ice embossing powder, Cherry cobbler dazzling details, Dazzling details, dimensionals, 1 3/4 by 7/8" oval punch, dimensionals, glue dot

Open Sleigh Warm Winter Wishes - Create with Connie & Mary 221

It's a rainy cool day in southern Ontario, but I managed to get an hour's worth of gardening and raking leaves before the rain started.
This card is for the sketch challenge with CCM 221 here

CCMC221

Technique:
The Cherry Cobbler base is layered with first Very Vanilla, then a DSP from the Festival of Prints pack.
Image: The sleigh was embossed with Cherry Cobbler embossing powder on Very Vanilla card stock.  The edges of the panel were sponged with Cherry Cobbler ink, and the panel was then matted with Cherry cobbler card stock.  Some champagne glass glitter at the base of the sleigh completed the image.
Sentiment: This was taken from Winter Memories, stamped with Basic Black and die cut using the Apothecary accessories framelit..  The edges were sponged and attached along the right side of the image panel.

Stamps: Open Sleigh, Winter memories
Inks: Versa Mark, Basic Black
Papers: Cherry Cobbler, Very Vanilla, Festival of Prints DS pack, Marina Mist
Accessories: Apothecary accessories framelit, Champagne glass glitter, rhinestones, Cherry cobbler embossing powder.

I just missed the linky, so am unable to post it to the CCM site.

Building a Snowman - Technostamper 240

Yesterday was an absolutely gorgeous day, but today its cool and rainy - a good day to hibernate and make cards.
This card is made using the sketch with Technostamper here

Technique: The Gumball Green cardstock base is layered with Whisper White, then a smaller layer of Gumball Green.  Some Snow Festival designer paper is attached to that layer.
Image: I masked the parts of the stamp I did not wish to stamp with a post it note, inked up the stamp, removed the post it note and stamped in on a Whisper White circle.  The mat pack & paper piercer was used to pierce holes all the way around the circle.
To make the scallop circle, I punched 3 scallop oval punches in Gumball Green, cut them in half and applied them around the circle.
The image was colored using SU markers and an aqua painter.  Dazzling details was applied to the outline of the snowman and the fur of the boy's hat.  Silver glass glitter was added to the snow at the feet of the images.
This unit was applied to the card using dimensionals.

Stamps: Winter Memories, Many More Messages
Inks: Black Stazon, SU markers, Green Gumball
Papers: Gumball Green, Whisper White, Snow Festival Designer Paper
Accessories: Circle die #2, Scallop oval punch, Mat pack & paper piercer, Silver glass glitter, Dazzling details, 1/4" Riding Hood Red taffeta ribbon

Snowman Family - Create with Connie & Mary #219

Yesterday was such a beautiful day that I got a lot of gardening done.  I'm thankful for that day because it's supposed to rain today - with a risk of frost tonight.  Thank goodness my geraniums are inside.
Before we know it, our children will be making snowmen like in the card I made for the sketch challenge with Create with Connie & Mary here

2012 Create Challenges-035

This 5 by 5" card has a base of Baja breeeze embossed with the Northern Flurries folder.
This image was stamped on Whisper White cardstock using Black Stazon ink and die cut using the Labels framelit.  It was colored using SU markers; the outline was coloured with Bashful blue and an Aquapainter.  Some dazzling diamonds was placed on the fur cuff of the hat, and dazzling details was lightly applied around the edges of each of the snow people.
A strip of designer paper was placed alsong the bottom edge.
Using the Snow Flurry die, 2 snowflakes were die cut using Silver glimmer paper - a medium one and a small one.  A red glimmer brad was inserted in the middle of each of them.  They were attached to the card on the left lower image with glue dots.

Stamps: Frosty Friends, Winter Memories
Inks: Black Stazon, SU markers

Framed Reindeer - Red Hot Stampers #55

I'm sore today from doing all that gardening yesterday - but glad that I got my geraniums inside.  There's still a lot of work to do outside, but the urgency to get it done is gone.  Today the forecast is for rain so I may not get too much done outside today.  That makes is a good day to replenish my supplies for the next craft sale in a week and a half, - and to make some cards.
This card is based on the sketch challenge with Red Hot Stampers here

Technique:
The card base is Gumball Green layered with Very Vanilla.  The next designer paper layer is from Be of Good Cheer.
To make the panel behind the image, I took a 1 3/8" square punch and punched 4 different design pieces of Candlelight Christmas designer paper and attached them to Whisper White base.  Then I wrapped a Gumball Green stitched satin ribbon around the bottom 1/2 of this panel and added a bow.

Image:
I first embossed the oval designer frames folder on a piece of Whisper White card stock - then stamped the oval image from Joyous Celebration in Early Espresso.  Lastly the deer was stamped in the middle of that, and a dot of Cherry cobbler dazzling details was placed on its nost.
This white oval was matted with an Early Espresso oval die cut using the Ovals #2 die.  I applied tombo glue around the white frame and added Champagne glass glitter.
The image was attached to the card using dimensionals.

Stamps: Joyous Celebration, Winter Memories
Inks: Early Espresso
Papers: Gumball Green, Very Vanilla, Whisper White, Be of Good Cheer designer paper, Candlelight Christmas designer paper, Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Modern word label punch, 1 3/8" square punch, Oval die #2, Champagne glass glitter, Cherry Cobbler dazzling details, 1/4" Gumball Green stitched satin ribbon, tombo glue, dimensionals

A Pair of Skates - Sketch Frenzy Friday

My the weeks are going by fast!!.  August is gone - September is here and so is school and back to work.  The remnants of Isaac created a very wet start to the school day.  But, the rain was much needed so I'm not really complaining.
So, today it's Friday, and time for another mini blog hop with Sketch Frenzy Friday. Hope you can join us.
Today's sketch is by Deb Currier

09/07/12 Deb Currier

Technique:
The card base is Riding Hood Red, layered with Whisper White.
On the Whisper White layer, the image of the skates was stamped with Black Stazon and colored with markers and SU markers.  The intent was to create a vintage feel.
Some cherry cobbler dazzling details was applied to the berries .
A small star was punched using the tiny star punch - to hide a mistake in stamping.  Embellishments are really good at doing that.
The scalloped glimmer red was die cut using the Tasteful trim die.

Stamp: Winter Memories
Inks: Black Stazon, SU markers
Papers: Riding Hood Red, Whisper White, Red Glimmer Paper
Accessories: Tasteful trim die, Tiny star punch, Aqua painter

Now its your turn to create something using Deb's sketch.  When finished, upload it to the Sketch Frenzy Friday home page here
Then take some time to visit the blogs of the other team members to see their interpretation of the sketch.
Your next stop on the tour is Patrice's blog here  She usually has something interesting to show you.

Building Snowmen - Happy Memories - Challenge 188 LNS Color Me Happy

This week we are challenging you to find your 'inner-child' and grab those blender pens, markers pens and aqua painters and start coloring. There are so many fabulous ways to add that extra bit of hand coloring to your creations so share your talents with us this week.

So, that's the challenge!
So, I colored an image using chalks and a blender pen.
Here is my card:

Technique:
The base card is Gumball Green, which is matted with Very Vanilla card stock.  The next layer is the new Early Espresso Core'dinations cardstock which was embossed with the Polka dot folder and then sanded with a sanding block.

Image:
It was stamped with Black Stazon ink, and colored with chalk and a blender pen.  Versa mark ink was then applied to the entire surface, iridescent ice embossing powder applied followed by heat embossing.  Labels framelits were used to cut out the image and then mat it with Real Red card stock.  It was attached to the card using dimensionals.

Papers: Gumball Green, Very Vanilla, whisper White, Early Espresso Core-dinations card stock, Candlelight Christmas designer paper, Real Red

Making Snowpeople - Stamping 411 #267

One has to be politically correct these days.  Since the image has both a male and female snowperson, one can't say the children are making snowmen.
The card is for the Stamping 411 sketch challenge here

The base of the card is Gumball Green; the next layer Very Vanilla which was double embossed with the Stripes folder and Iridescent Ice embossing powder.
The image was stamped with Black Stazon and colored with chalk and a blender pen.  Dazzling diamonds created some wintery glitter.
Unfortunately the sentiment was stamped slightly askew.  I was going to fix it but decided to leave it as the card is hand made and one can accept some imperfections.
After the image was die cut with the labels framelit die, the edges were stippled with Pool Party ink and a stipple brush, after with they were sponged slightly with Gumball Green ink.

Stamps: Winter Memories, Joyous Celebrations
Inks: Black Stazon, Chalks, Basic Black, Versa Mark, Pool Party, Gumball Green
Papers: Gumball Green, Very Vanilla, Be of Good Cheer designer paper, Whisper White
Accessories: Labels Framelit, mat pack &; paper piercer, Stiple brush, dazzling diamonds, Iridescent Ice embossing powder, Stripes folder, dimensionals, blender pen

Warm Winter Wishes - Sketch Frenzy Friday

It's seems somewhat ironic to wish someone warm winter wishes when it's still summer, but if I'm to be ready for some big craft shows in Sept. & Oct. I need to be starting now.
Today is Friday and time for another mini blog hop with Sketch Frenzy Friday.
Today's sketch is by Robbie

The image was stamped with Black Stazon ink and coloured with watercolor pencils and blended with mineral spirits.
Some pricking was done in the corners of the image panel and well above the sentiment. The Vanilla hodgepodge ribbon embellishment was covered with crystal effects and then covered with silver glitter.  When dried it was attached to the ribbon.

Stamp: Winter Memories
Inks: Black Stazon, watercolor pencils, Basic Black
Papers: Whisper White, Real Red, Candlelight Christmas designer series paper
Accessories: Mineral spirits (non SU), stubbie (non SU), 1/4" Real Red grosgrain ribbon (retired), Vanilla Hodgepodge hardware, Silver glitter (retired), Dazzling diamonds, mat pack & paper piercer, Crystal Effects

Now it's your turn to create something using Robbie's sketch.  Then upload it to the Sketch Frenzy Friday homepage here .  Then visit the blogs of the other team members - and don't forget to leave comments.
Your next stop is Patrice's blog here

Stay safe, and I'll see you next week.
