Serene Silhouette Happy Anniversary - Unscripted Sketches #194

Today is a snow day.  We got dumped on last night - but now it's starting to rain.  I wish the weather would make up its mind!
Regardless, it's a good day to stay in and make some cards.
This card is for the challenge with Unscripted Sketches here .  It's a piggyback challenge i.e. we're to use stickers with the sketch.  Unfortunately I didn't have any stickers, so I made some using a stamp.
I put the sketch upright to make my card.

 

Stamps:  Serene silhouettes, Button, button, A Word for You

Inks: Melon mambo, SU markers (Melon Mambo, Old Olive)

Papers: Melon Mambo, Whisper white, Watercolor paper, Old Olive

Accessories: Brocade folder, Pearls, 1/2" circle punch, 1/8" Old Olive taffeta ribbon, dimensionals, Pearlized smooch.

Technique:

Here's how I watercolored the focal image:

1.  Cut a piece of watercolor paper

2.  Color the stamp with SU markers

3.  Lightly spritz the watercolor paper

4.  Huff on the stamp and stamp on the damp watercolor paper.  The image will start to "bleed" and blur

5.  Clean stamp and reink with the markers the same as before

6.  Lightly mist the inked stamp

7.  Stamp over the image on the watercolor paper.  Lightly spritz the image if you want more blurring of the edges.

8.  Allow to dry.

The stickers I made were stamped images from Button, button.  They were punched with the 1/2" circle punch and covered with Pearlized smooch and then run through the xyron.  A pearl was placed in the middle of each button

Everything Eleanor Congratulations - Unscripted Sketches #192

I love doing triple stamping, but today's card is done using double stamping.  I don't know if that is the correct word for this technique or not, but that's what I'm calling it.  This technique was used for the sketch challenge with Unscripted Sketches here

Sailboat Baby - Unscripted Sketches 189

I seem to be needing a lot of baby cards lately, so I thought I'd use the sketch with Unscripted Sketches here to make a baby boy card.  The challenge this week is also a piggy back challenge i.e. i do something to or with the circle. Alter it somehow- distress it, tear it, layer it, etc. Make the circle a unique focal point!  Since this is a baby card I did not want to distress or tear the circle, so I layered it.

 

I started out by punching out a 2 1/2" circle in Whisper White and layering it with Baja Breeze card stock.  On the Whisper White circle, I stamped the sailboat which had been inked with markers.  A piece of daffodil delight designer paper was used to paper piece the sail of the boat.

The circle was then pierced with the mat pack and paper piercer and attached to the Baja Breeze layer with dimensionals.

Papillon Potpourri Birthday - Unscripted Sketches #188

What a busy time of year this is! All day I have been making presents, then wrapping them, and putting them under the tree.  My cat, Mischief, loves to go under the Christmas tree and he was a bit offended that there were parcels under there.  He's really good though.  Never touches anything on the tree, and he gently maneuvers around the parcels.  He was just initially taken aback.
The only thing left to do is address and mail my Christmas cards.  I've made as many as I'm going to make, so for the challenge with Unscripted Sketches here  I thought I would make a birthday card, as I have several birthdays coming up in January.
Here is my card:

 

A panel of Whisper White card stock was randonly stamped with a butterfly from the Papillon Potpourri stamp set using Midnight Muse ink. It was matted with a piece of Primrose Petals which had been scalloped along one of the long edges.

Trees & Snowflakes all-a-glitter Unscripted Sketches

I've had a few days off from craft shows and I'm starting to get my Mojo back.  For several days I had a hard time creating cards because I was so tired.  But, having said that, I'm starting to get ready for another craft show on the weekend.
This card, which I should have titled Winter Wonderland is sparkling with glitter and was made using the sketch with Unscripted Sketches here

 

At first I didn't know what to do with the sketch, so I just looked at it for a couple of days.  Today I knew!

Technique:  The base of the card is Gumball Green, and it is layered with Very Vanilla card stock that has been double embossed using the Northern Flurry folder and Iridescent Ice embossing powder. Boy, does it glitter!  The picture doesn't do it justice.

The trees were hand cut from the Be of Good Cheer designer paper because the pattern has trees on it.  I punched a Champagne glitter star using the tiny star punch and adhered it to the top of the 2 trees.

I was a bit of a loss as to what to do with the circles on the sketch.  So, to continue my theme of glitter, I die cut 2 of the smallest snowflakes using the Snowflake flurry die and punched one using the Snowflake punch.  They were adhered to the card as shown and a pearl placed in the middle of each snowflake.

Leaves Falling for You - Unscripted Sketches #180

Again, since I had a lot of leaves left over from a previous project, this card uses some of these leaves in its design.  It is made for the sketch challenge with Unscripted Sketches here

 

Technique:

The card base is Early Espresso layered with Crumb Cake card stock which is embossed with the Brocade folder.  Using a dauber, the embossed cardstock was painted with Champagne shimmer paint.  This makes it look like gold paper.

Image: Three pieces of Very Vanilla card stock were cut and sponged with Early Espresso ink.  They were mounted on a piece of Champagne glitter paper.

The leaves were mounted on the various size pieces with dimensionals.  Crystal effects was applied to the acorn.

Embellishment: A piece of Early Espresso Baker's twine was wrapped around the crumb cake layer 3 times and a button was attached to the string.

Winter Post Happy Christmas - Unscripted Sketches #177

Last night there was a risk of frost, so today I spent most of my time in the garden trimming back my geraniums and repotting them.  I overwinter them indoors.  Some of my plants are over 10 years old.  And what a beautiful day to be working outside - sunny, but cool.

Technique:   

This is a 5 by 5" square card with a Cherry cobbler base layered with Very Vanilla.  The designer paper is Be of Good Cheer and that set the tone for the rest of the card.

I put a strip of silver glitter paper on the left hand side instead of ribbon.  I was visualizing all sorts of glitter for this card.

Image: The skaters were stamped using Soft Suede ink on Very Vanilla card stock - and punched out using a 2 1/2" circle punch.  The edges were sponged and then silver glitter as added around the circle.  

Embellishment: The snowflake from the Winter Post stamp set was embossed twice with silver embossing powder.  With one, the outline of the entire snowflake was cut out, and with the second only the middle portion.  It was attached to the first snowflake using a dimensional.  A rhinestone in the middle completed the embellishment.  Dimensionals were used to attach this embellishment to the card.

Autumn Colors - Unscripted Sketches #176

The leaves are changing colors rapidly.  In some parts of the city the trees present as a sea of color.  I tried to mimic this cacaphony of colour in the card I make for the sketch challenge with Unscripted Sketches here.  This month there is also a piggy back challenge i.e. to actually use the card.
My plan is to donate the card to the Toronto Hospital for Sick Children for one of the older children.  I am a member of SendaSmile4Kids, an organization that donates hand made cards to this particular hospital in Ontario.  I was instrumental in bringing this to Ontario.There are similar branches in British Columbia and Alberta, and many in the United States.

 

Technique: 

I turned the sketch on its side for this card.

The base card of Lucky Limeade is matted with Very Vanilla, and then a layer of Orchard Harvest designer paper.  The latter had its corners rounded with the corner rounder punch.

To make the "sea of color" panel, the following colors were sponged randomly on a piece of Whisper White card stock : Daffodil Delight, Soft Suede, Cajun Craze and Lucky Limeade.  The paper was then crumples and when straightened out the wrinkles were sponged with Soft suede ink.  Then it was spritzed lightly with water to blend the colors.  When dry  it was spritzed with gold smooch.

It was matted with Island Indigo card stock, the lower edge of which was punched with a scallop border punch.

Leaves:

First they were die cut using the Autumn Accents die.  The acorn was die cut twice, the second time with Soft Suede card stock.  The leaves were then stamped using the Wonderfall stamp set - the oal leaf in Cajun Craze; the poplar in Daffodil Delight, and the acorn in Soft Suede. They were then sponged with 3 different colors and the edges with Soft suede.  Then they were given the same treatment as the panel - crumpled, sponged, spritzed with water and then with gold smooch.

For the acorn, the top was cut off the soft suede acorn (which had been embossed with the Square lattice embossing folder) and attached to the stamped acorn, which had been sponged with Cajun Craze ink.  The top was then sponged with soft suede ink, and Crystal Effects was applied to the bottom portion.

The leaves were layered and attached to each other with stampin dimensionals.

The panel was made a little larger than in the sketch to accommodate the leaves.

Embellishment:

Island Indigo ruffled ribbon was inserted through 2 holes in a brushed bronze button and tied into a knot at the top.  Two glue dots were used to attach the button to the card.
