Merry Christmas to You and Yours - Dryer sheet technique - Try Stampin' on Tuesday #244

The sketch challenge with Try Stampin on Tuesday this week had a caveat with it - add glitter.  Well, when someone suggests adding glitter, I add glitter.  I decided the best way to do this was to use the Dryer Sheet Technique.

  • The base card is Old Olive, layered with Whisper White embossed with the Lucky Stars embossing folder.  At the bottom of this layer is a strip of Old Olive DSP, at the top of which was attached a piece of silver ribbon and a bow.
  • The image of the tree, from "To You and Yours Too" was stamped in Chocolate Chip ink, as was the barrel the tree was sitting in.  In a way, this Christmas tree reminded me of Charlie Bown's Christmas Tree - all bare and naked.  I coloured the barrel with a Chocolate chip marker.
  • Using Soft Sky ink, I stamped stars all around the tree, and if you look carefully in this picture below you can see the stars.
  • I measured a piece of Dryer sheet, sprayed adhesive on it and adhered it to the image panel.  Then I generously sprinkled Dazzling details on it.  WOW, the glitter effect was phenomenal.

  • This panel was matted with Old Olive cardstock.
  • Next to this panel I placed a piece of Merry Moments DSP and matted it with Old Olive cardstock.  This DSP had white ornaments all over it.  Two way glue was applied to each ornament, and Dazzling diamonds added more glitter to the clard.  This panel was adhered directly to the card front.  The panel covered in a dryer sheet was adhered using dimensionals.
  • The embellishment of the wooden snowflake, was
placed at the top of the panel rather than at the bottom where it competed with the silver bow.
  • The sentiment is from the same stamp set, stamped with Old Olive ink, and the strip of Whisper White made into a banner and adhered to the DSP at the bottom.

Peace to You and Yours - Friday Mashup #229

Normally colour challenges throw me off, but I thought I would try this one with the Friday Mashup

The challenge here is as follows:

  • Use all 5 or 3 of the colors listed above.
  • Create a project using a Masking Techniques.
  • or Mash it Up! and create a project with the colors above and some Masking.
On my card, I used the following colours:  black, Island Indigo, Daffodil Delight, and Crushed Currie.  I did do some masking, covering up the moon before I sponged the sky.

  • The basic card is Island Indigo cardstock, layered with Whisper White.
  • On a smaller piece of Whisper White, I stamped the image from "To You and Yours Too" with Versa Mark and embossed it with black embossing powder.
  • A 1 3/4" circle post it note was punched and temporarily adhered to the right upper sky.
  • Island Indigo was sponged first starting at the sky line and lightly working upward, leaving a space around the moon.
  • Daffodil Delight was then sponged around the moon, with Crushed Curry closer to the moon.
  • After the mask was removed, some Daffodil  Delight was applied to the moon.
  • The image of santa and his sleight from "Cosy Christmas" was stamped with Black Memento flying across the sky and over the moon.
  • To make the sparkles in the sky, the new Fine Tipped Glue pen was tapped lightly all over the sky, and dazzling diamonds applied.
  • The sentiment is from "Happy Scenes".  A bow made of silver cord was adhered to this banner with a glue dot.
Supplies Used:
Stamps: To You and Yours Too, Cozy Christmas, Happy Scenes
Inks: Versa Mark, Island Indigo, Daffodil Delight, Crushed Curry, Black Memento
Papers: Island Indigo, Whisper White
Accessories: Black embossing powder, 1 3/4" circle punch, Fine tip glue pen, silver cording trim, glue dot, embossing buddy

I missed the linky, so I'll share this card with you.

Sleigh Ride Ornament

After yesterday's numerous die cutting attempts I had some die cuts left over, so I created a whole different card - a sleigh ride ornament.

  • A piece of the left over trees die was adhered to a piece of Real Red cardstock.
  • On top of that I placed the sleigh and horse.
  • This was die cut in the shape of an ornament.  To do this I used  the open ornament from the delicate ornament thinlet die set.
  •  For the ornament top, I embossed with pewter embossing powder the topper from the "To You and Yours Too" stamp set.  This was hand cut.
  • The basic card is Real Red layered with an embossed Whisper White layer.
  • I adhered the ornament topper to the top of the ornament, with the string going to the top of the card.  To that I added a bow made with the silver cord string with a glue dot.
  • The sentiment is from "To You and Yours Too" and was adhered to the card front with dimensionals. Part of the sentiment was over the lower part of the ornament.
