A Wobbly Frog - The Paper Players #489

It's been difficult being in self isolation, especially since this has gone on since March 17.  So, to see a challenge at the Paper Players where the theme is to create something that would "Make you Smile" - makes me smile.  So many possibilities went through my mind, but I finally settled on a frog.

To make this card I used numerous stamp sets (So Hoppy Together, Party Panda, The Gangs All Meer" and My Meadow)  many of which are retired, only because I had them.  If you don't have these stamps just the frog trying to balance on a unicycle would be enough to bring a smile to anyone's face.

The little frog with woggly eyes trying to balance on a unicycle while juggling objects in the air certainly makes me smile.  He is obviously trying to liven up a birthday for a shy little marmot hovering in the back"ground.

On a scrap piece of Whisper White I stamped two images of the frog on a unicycle and after colouring them with Stampin' Blends, they were die cut with the Hop Around Dies.  For the second image I snipped the frog from the unicycle, and added him to the first frog using a woggle.

Then I added a birthday hat from "Party Panda" and some larger than life googly eyes.  Using dimensionals he was added to a die cut background lightly washed using an alcohol filled aqua painter and ink pads.  Balmy Blue was used for the sky; Pear Pizzazz for the grass.  The actual tufts of grass were stamped using the "My Meadow" stamp set.

The Marmot having a birthday is from "The Gang's All Meer".  He's holding 3 tiny balloons punched with a retired tiny balloon punch.

The frog seems to be having balance problems but he believed he could, thus the sentiment from "Believe You Can"

Will he make it, will he not.!!!

The Three Amigos - another catalogue sneak peak

Three days before Christmas, and I spent the day in the kitchen baking   I haven't made apple crisp in a long time so felt like a bit rusty.  Non the less I ended up  trying mething new as well -  apples in a tortilla.  After adding copping applies and some sugar and cinnamon, the tortilla was rolled it up tightly rolled in melted butter and a sugar/cinnamon mixture and baked it in the oven.   Mmmmm ! I think this may be my new seasonal favourite!

After all this kitchen labour, I took a foray down to the craft room to make some cards using the "So Hoppy Together" stamp set.

This is such an adorable stamp set. I gave you a sneak peak of this SAB stamp set earlier in the week here, and today I'm giving you another. The frog characters bring a smile to my face every time.

For this card I used the masking technique to bring all three characters together on one card. Together they look like the 3 amigos.

I just love the little guy on the unicyle, so I stamped some bees overhead as if he were tumbling them.  Because I visualized him bobbing around on this cycle, I crafted another frog identical to on the cycle and mounted him on top using a wobble.  So, he actually does move about.

After colouring all with Stampin Blends, I gave them all "google" eyes.  I wanted smaller ones, but couldn't find them.  I quite like the bigger ones.  It gives them more personality.

Behind the 3 amigos I created clouds in the sky using scallop circles and Pool Party ink.

The art piece was matted with Berry Burst card stock and mounted to the card front using dimensionals.

The card base of Berry Burst is matted with Whisper White with 2 different patterns of Animal Adventure DSP added to the left.

Supplies Used:
Stamp:  So Hoppy Together
Inks:  Pool Party, Stampin' Blends (Granny Apply Green, Smoky Slate
Papers:  Berry Burst, Whisper White, Animal Adventure DSP
Accessories:  Google eyes, Dimensionals, small wobble (non SU)

So Hoppy Together - a SAB sneak peak

Do you want a sneak peak of one of the SAB stamps which will be offered free with  $60 purchase starting in January?

I couldn't wait to make some cards using the "So Hoppy Together" cling   stamp set.  The new cling stamps are so marvelous!! Once they are mounted on the stamping block they stay there i.e. they won't fall off or slide while stamping.  See the earlier post here where I posted a video made by Stampin' Up explaining all about the new cling stamps - putting the labels on, using, cleaning and storing them.

So, here's the first card:

These little frogs are so cute!
This one finds himself in a pond full of hippos waiting to snap him up!  His friend the butterfly hovers over head. I love this little guy's attitude - it seems like he's saying that as long as he's on his "lily pad" the hippo's can't get him- thus the "hey"

After colouring the frog with Stampin' Blends (Granny Apple Green light and dark, with Pool Party eyes I used a 1 3/4" circle punch to punch him out, then matted him with a Starburst circle in Basic Gray.

The butterfly was coloured with Rich Razzelberry and Smokey Slate stampin blends, punched with a 1" circle punch and matted with 1 1/8" scallop circle of Basic Gray.

I also used punches to punch out that defiant "hey!"- a 3/4" matted with a 7/8" scallop.

These elements were arranged on some Animal Expedition DSP (annual catalogue) which was layered on a Whisper White layer.  After these layers were adhered together, some 3/8" Basic Gray ribbon was added near the bottom and a bow added to the right of the main image piece.
The layers were then adhered to a Pool Party card base.
